1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,	1 - Mentre che essi parlavano al popolo, i sacerdoti, il capitano del tempio e i Sadducei sopraggiunsero,
2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.	2 sdegnati che ammaestrassero il popolo e annunziassero in Gesù la risurrezione da' morti;
3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.	3 e misero loro le mani addosso, e li gettarono in prigione per il dì appresso; perchè era già sera.
4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.	4 Ma molti di coloro che avevano udito il discorso di Pietro, credettero; e il numero degli uomini aumentò a circa cinquemila.
5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,	5 Venuto poi il dì appresso, i capi del popolo, gli anziani e gli scribi si radunarono in Gerusalemme
6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.	6 con Anna, il sommo sacerdote, Caifa, Giovanni, Alessandro, e tutti che erano di stirpe sacerdotale.
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?	7 Essi, fatti comparire in mezzo Pietro e Giovanni, li interrogarono: «Con qual potere e in nome di chi avete fatto ciò?».
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,	8 Allora Pietro, ripieno di Spirito Santo, rispose loro: «Capi del popolo e anziani, vogliate ascoltare.
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;	9 Poichè oggi ci s'interroga su d'un benefizio a un uomo infermo, per sapere in qual modo si sia guarito,
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.	10 sia noto a tutti voi e a tutto il popolo d'Israele, che in nome del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo Nazareno, crocifisso da voi e risuscitato da Dio, per lui questo è innanzi a voi sano.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.	11 Questa è la pietra, da voi edificatori sprezzata, che è divenuta pietra angolare.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.	12 E in nessun altro è salute; perchè non c'è sotto il cielo alcun altro nome dato agli uomini, dal quale possiamo aspettarci d'esser salvati».
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.	13 Vedendo la franchezza di Pietro e di Giovanni, riconosciuti per uomini del popolo illetterati, quelli si meravigliavano, mentre sapevano ch'erano stati con Gesù.
14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.	14 Ma, vedendo ritto con loro l'uomo guarito, non potevano contraddire.
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,	15 Perciò, fattili uscir dal Sinedrio, cominciarono a consultarsi tra loro,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.	16 dicendo: «Che faremo di questi uomini? Che un evidente miracolo sia avvenuto per opera loro, è noto a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, e noi non lo possiamo negare;
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.	17 ma, perchè la cosa non si diffonda anche più nel popolo, imponiamo loro con minacce di non parlare più in quel nome a persona alcuna».
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.	18 E, dopo averli richiamati, intimaron loro di assolutamente non parlare e non insegnare nel nome di Gesù.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.	19 Ma Pietro e Giovanni risposero loro: «Giudicate voi stessi se sia giusto, dinanzi a Dio, l'ubbidire a voi anzi che a Dio!
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.	20 Quanto a noi, non possiamo non parlare di quel ch'abbiamo visto e udito».
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.	21 I giudici, minacciatili, li lasciarono andare, non trovando come punirli, a cagion del popolo che tutto glorificava Dio per l'accaduto.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.	22 L'uomo in cui s'era operato il miracolo della guarigione, aveva più di quarant'anni.
23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.	23 Intanto i rilasciati vennero ai propri fratelli, e riferirono tutto quel che i capi dei sacerdoti e gli anziani avevano detto.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:	24 E quelli, udito ciò, alzarono d'un sol cuore la voce a Dio, e dissero: «Signore, tu sei colui che hai fatto il cielo, la terra, il mare e tutte le cose che sono in essi,
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?	25 tu, mediante lo Spirito Santo, per bocca del padre nostro e tuo servo David, hai detto: - Perchè fremettero le genti, e i popoli han meditate cose vane?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.	26 I re della terra si presentarono, e i principi si son radunati insieme contro al Signore e contro al suo Cristo. -
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,	27 E veramente, in questa città si sono radunati Erode e Ponzio Pilato, insieme co' Gentili e con tutto il popolo d'Israele, contro il santo tuo Figliuolo Gesù, che tu hai consacrato!
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.	28 Essi han fatto quel che la tua mano e il tuo consiglio decretò si facesse.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,	29 E adesso, Signore, tieni presente le loro minacce, e concedi a' tuoi servi d'annunziar la tua parola con tutta franchezza,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.	30 mentre tu stendi la mano a risanare e operar segni e prodigi per mezzo del nome del santo tuo Figlio Gesù».
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.	31 E dopo che ebbero pregato, il luogo dove erano adunati tremò; e furon tutti ripieni di Spirito Santo, e con fermezza annunziavano la parola di Dio.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.	32 E la moltitudine de' credenti era un cuor solo e un'anima sola; nè alcuno c'era che considerasse come suo quel che possedeva, ma avevan tutto in comune.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.	33 E gli apostoli con grande efficacia rendevan testimonianza della risurrezione di Gesù Cristo Signor nostro; e grazia abbondante era in tutti loro.
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,	34 Or non c'era alcun indigente tra essi, perchè tutti quelli che possedevan poderi e case, li vendevano, e portavano il prezzo delle cose vendute,
35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.	35 e lo mettevano a' piedi degli apostoli; poi si distribuiva a ciascuno, secondo il bisogno.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,	36 Così Giuseppe, soprannominato dagli apostoli Barnaba (che vuol dir figlio di consolazione), levita, oriundo di Cipro,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.	37 aveva un campo: lo vendè, portò i denari, e li depose a' piedi degli apostoli.
