1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 C'erano nella chiesa stabilita ad Antiochia profeti e dottori: Bàrnaba, Simeone detto il Nero, Lucio di Cirene, Manaèn, educato insieme ad Erode il tetrarca, e Saulo.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.	2 Mentre essi prestavano servizio cultuale al Signore e facevano digiuni, lo Spirito Santo disse: "Mettetemi da parte Bàrnaba e Saulo per l'opera a cui li ho destinati".
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.	3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato e pregato, imposero loro le mani e li lasciarono partire.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.	4 Essi, mandati in missione dallo Spirito Santo, scesero a Seleucia e di là si imbarcarono per Cipro.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.	5 Giunti a Salamina, vi annunciavano la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe dei Giudei. Avevano anche Giovanni come aiutante.
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus:	6 Attraversata tutta l'isola fino a Pafo, trovarono un mago, uno pseudoprofeta giudeo, di nome Bar-Iesus,
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.	7 che stava col proconsole Sergio Paolo, uomo intelligente. Costui fece chiamare Bàrnaba e Saulo, perché desiderava ascoltare la parola di Dio.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.	8 Ma Elimas, il mago (questo infatti è il significato del suo nome), si opponeva loro cercando di distogliere il proconsole dalla fede.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,	9 Allora Saulo, detto anche Paolo, pieno di Spirito Santo, fissandolo in volto disse:
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?	10 "Uomo ricolmo di ogni inganno e di ogni malizia, figlio del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia, non la finirai di distorcere le vie rette del Signore?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.	11 Ed ora, ecco, la mano del Signore è su di te: resterai cieco e per un certo tempo non potrai vedere la luce del sole". In quell'istante buio e oscurità lo avvolsero ed egli andava intorno cercando chi lo conducesse per mano.
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.	12 Allora il proconsole, vedendo ciò che era accaduto, abbracciò la fede, colpito dalla dottrina del Signore.
13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.	13 Paolo e i suoi compagni s'imbarcarono da Pafo e giunsero a Perge di Panfilia. Giovanni si separò da loro e ritornò a Gerusalemme.
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.	14 Essi, partendo da Perge, con una traversata giunsero ad Antiochia di Pisidia. Il giorno di sabato entrarono nella sinagoga e si posero a sedere.
15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.	15 Dopo la lettura della legge e dei profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono a dir loro: "Fratelli, se avete qualche parola d'esortazione per il popolo, ditela".
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.	16 Allora Paolo, alzatosi e fatto segno con la mano, disse: "Uomini d'Israele e voi che temete Dio, ascoltate.
17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.	17 Il Dio di questo popolo d'Israele scelse i padri nostri ed esaltò il popolo durante la sua dimora in Egitto, e con opere prodigiose li condusse fuori da quella terra.
18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.	18 Per circa quarant'anni li assisté nel deserto.
19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.	19 Poi distrusse sette popoli nella terra di Canaan e diede ad essi in eredità la loro terra:
20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.	20 tutto ciò nello spazio di circa quattrocentocinquant'anni. Dopo diede loro dei giudici fino al profeta Samuele.
21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.	21 Poi chiesero un re e Dio diede loro Saul figlio di Cis, della tribù di Beniamino, per quarant'anni.
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.	22 Dopo averlo deposto, suscitò loro un altro re, Davide, e gli rese questa testimonianza: Ho trovato Davide, figlio di Iesse, secondo il mio cuore, che eseguirà tutti i miei voleri.
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:	23 Dalla sua discendenza Dio, secondo la promessa, trasse un salvatore per Israele, Gesù.
24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.	24 Giovanni preparò la sua venuta predicando un battesimo di penitenza a tutto il popolo d'Israele.
25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.	25 E quando Giovanni stava per compiere la sua missione, diceva: "Io non sono ciò che voi pensate che io sia; ma ecco, viene dopo di me uno a cui io non sono degno di slegare i sandali".
26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.	26 Fratelli, figli della stirpe di Abramo, e voi che temete Dio, è a noi che è stato mandato questo messaggio di salvezza.
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.	27 Infatti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e i loro capi, rifiutando di riconoscere lui e non comprendendo gli oracoli dei profeti che si leggono ogni sabato, li hanno adempiuti, pronunciando la sua condanna.
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.	28 E pur non avendo trovato nessun motivo di condanna a morte, chiesero a Pilato che fosse ucciso.
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.	29 Quando ebbero compiuto tutto ciò che era stato scritto intorno a lui, lo deposero dal patibolo e lo misero in un sepolcro.
30 But God raised him from the dead:	30 Ma Dio l'ha risuscitato dai morti
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.	31 ed è apparso durante molti giorni a quelli che erano saliti con lui dalla Galilea a Gerusalemme, i quali ora sono suoi testimoni davanti al popolo.
32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,	32 E noi vi proclamiamo la buona novella: la promessa fatta ai padri
33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.	33 Dio l'ha adempiuta per noi, loro figli, facendo risorgere Gesù, come è scritto nel salmo secondo: Tu sei mio figlio, io oggi ti ho generato.
34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.	34 Che poi lo abbia fatto risuscitare dai morti così che non ritorni alla corruzione, lo ha detto affermando: Darò a voi le cose sante di Davide, quelle permanenti.
35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.	35 Perciò dice ancora in un altro luogo: Non permetterai che il tuo santo veda la corruzione.
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:	36 Davide infatti, dopo aver adempiuto nella sua generazione la volontà di Dio, si addormentò, fu sepolto con i suoi padri e vide la corruzione.
37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.	37 Ma colui che Dio ha risuscitato non ha visto la corruzione.
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:	38 Vi sia dunque noto, o fratelli, che per mezzo suo a voi è annunciato il perdono dei peccati. E l'intera giustificazione, che non avete potuto ottenere mediante la legge di Mosè,
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.	39 per mezzo suo la ottiene chiunque crede.
40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;	40 Guardate perciò che non si avveri per voi la parola dei profeti:
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.	41 Guardate, o spergiuri, stupitevi e allibite, perché io farò un'opera nei vostri giorni, un'opera che non la credereste se ve la raccontassero".
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.	42 All'uscita li pregavano di parlare loro di queste cose anche nel sabato seguente.
43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.	43 Scioltasi l'adunanza, molti Giudei e proseliti adoratori di Dio accompagnarono Paolo e Bàrnaba, i quali, continuando a parlare loro, li persuasero a perseverare nella grazia di Dio.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.	44 Il sabato seguente quasi tutta la città si radunò per ascoltare la parola di Dio.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.	45 I Giudei, vedendo quella folla, furono presi da gelosia e contraddicevano alle cose dette da Paolo, bestemmiando.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.	46 Allora Paolo e Bàrnaba, pieni di ardire, dissero: "Era necessario annunciare a voi prima di tutti la parola di Dio. Ma poiché la respingete e non vi ritenete degni della vita eterna, ecco, ci rivolgiamo ai pagani!
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.	47 Così infatti ci ha ordinato il Signore: Ti ho posto a luce delle genti perché tu porti la salvezza fino all'estremità della terra".
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.	48 I pagani che ascoltavano ciò si rallegravano e glorificavano la parola di Dio, e quanti erano preordinati alla vita eterna abbracciarono la fede.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.	49 La parola del Signore si diffondeva per tutta la regione.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.	50 Ma i Giudei istigarono le donne devote della nobiltà e gli uomini di primo piano della città, suscitarono una persecuzione contro Paolo e Barnaba e li cacciarono dai loro confini.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.	51 Essi allora, scuotendo la polvere dai loro piedi contro di essi, se ne vennero a Iconio,
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.	52 mentre i discepoli erano pieni di letizia e di Spirito Santo.
