1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 - Nella Chiesa d'Antiochia vi eran dei profeti e de' dottori: Barnaba, Simone chiamato il Nero, Lucio di Cirene, Manaen, fratello di latte di Erode il tetrarca, e Saulo.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.	2 E mentre attendevano al servizio del Signore e digiunavano, lo Spirito Santo disse loro: «Segregatemi Saulo e Barnaba per l'opera alla quale gli ho destinati».
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.	3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato e pregato, imposero loro le mani, e li accomiatarono.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.	4 Essi dunque, mandati dallo Spirito Santo, scesero a Seleucia, e di là navigarono verso Cipro.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.	5 E giunti a Salamina, annunziavano la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe de' Giudei. Avevano anche Giovanni nel ministero.
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus:	6 Poi, traversata tutta l'isola sino a Pafo, trovarono un certo mago e falso profeta giudeo, che aveva nome Bar-Iesu,
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.	7 il quale era col proconsole Sergio Paolo, uomo di molto senno. Costui, chiamati a sè Barnaba e Saulo, chiese d'udir la parola di Dio.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.	8 Ma Elima - il mago - (così s'interpreta il nome di lui), s'opponeva loro, cercando di stornare il proconsole dalla fede.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,	9 Allora Saulo, chiamato anche Paolo, acceso di Spirito Santo, fissandolo in viso,
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?	10 disse: «O tu che sei pieno d'ogni frode e d'ogni malizia, figliuol del diavolo, nemico d'ogni giustizia non finirai mai di sovvertire le vie diritte del Signore?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.	11 Or ecco, la mano del Signore è sopra di te, e sarai cieco, senza poter vedere il sole per un certo tempo». D'un subito egli si trovò in fitte tenebre, e, brancolando, cercava chi lo menasse per mano.
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.	12 Allora il proconsole, veduto il fatto, credette, ammirando la dottrina del Signore.
13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.	13 Or Paolo e i suoi compagni, imbarcatisi a Pafo, arrivarono a Perge di Panfilia; ma, Giovanni, separatosi da loro, ritornò a Gerusalemme.
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.	14 Essi poi, spingendosi oltre Perge, giunsero ad Antiochia di Pisidia: ed entrati di sabato nella sinagoga, si posero a sedere.
15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.	15 Dopo la lettura della Legge e dei Profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono a dir loro: «Fratelli, se avete qualche parola d'esortazione da rivolgere al popolo, ditela pure».
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.	16 Allora Paolo, alzatosi e fatto cenno con la mano, disse: «Uomini d'Israele, e voi che temete Dio, ascoltate.
17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.	17 Il Dio del popolo d'Israele scelse i nostri padri e fece grande questo popolo nel tempo che dimorò nella terra d'Egitto, donde lo trasse con la potenza del suo braccio,
18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.	18 e, per lo spazio di quarant'anni, ne sopportò le costumanze nel deserto.
19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.	19 Distrusse poi sette nazioni nella terra di Canaan, la dette loro a sorte,
20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.	20 circa quattrocentocinquant'anni dopo; e più tardi diede i Giudici, fino a Samuele profeta.
21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.	21 Poi, chiesto un re, Dio diè loro, per circa quarant'anni, Saul, figlio di Cis, uomo della tribù di Beniamino,
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.	22 e, tolto lui, suscitò loro per re David, al quale rese questa testimonianza: - Io ho trovato David figlio di Jesse, uomo secondo il cuor mio, che farà tutti i miei voleri. -
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:	23 Dalla progenie di lui Iddio, secondo la sua promessa, ha suscitato il salvatore per Israele, Gesù;
24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.	24 avendo Giovanni, che andò avanti a lui nella sua venuta, predicato il battesimo della penitenza a tutto il popolo d'Israele;
25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.	25 e, presso a compiere la missione della sua vita, Giovanni diceva: - Chi credete io sia? Non son io quello; ma, ecco, vien dopo di me uno, del quale io non son degno di sciogliere dai piedi i calzari. -
26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.	26 Fratelli, figliuoli della stirpe di Abramo e quanti tra voi temono Dio, sappiate che la parola di questa salvezza è già venuta.
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.	27 Infatti, gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e i loro capi, non avendo cognizione di lui nè delle voci de' profeti che si leggono ogni sabato, condannandolo, le adempirono;
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.	28 pur non trovando in lui causa di morte, chiesero a Pilato che fosse ucciso;
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.	29 e dopo ch'ebbero finito di fare tutto quel ch'era stato scritto di lui, depostolo dal legno, lo posero nel sepolcro.
30 But God raised him from the dead:	30 Ma Dio lo risuscitò da morte il terzo giorno; e fu visto per molti giorni da coloro,
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.	31 che eran saliti con lui dalla Galilea a Gerusalemme, e che ora sono suoi testimoni presso il popolo.
32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,	32 E noi pure vi rechiamo la buona novella, che la promessa fatta a' nostri padri,
33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.	33 Dio l'ha adempita con i nostri figli, risuscitando Gesù, come sta scritto anche nel salmo secondo: "Mio Figlio sei tu; oggi io ti ho generato".
34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.	34 E che l'abbia risuscitato da' morti in modo da non ritornare nella corruzione, l'ha dichiarato dicendo: "Io vi manterrò fedelmente le promesse fatte a David".
35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.	35 E ancora dice in altro luogo: "Non permetterai che il tuo Santo vegga la corruzione".
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:	36 Or David, servito che ebbe in vita sua al disegno di Dio, s'addormentò, e, come i suoi padri, vide la corruzione.
37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.	37 Ma quello cui Dio risuscitò, non ha visto la corruzione.
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:	38 Vi sia dunque noto, fratelli, che per lui vi è annunziata la liberazione da' peccati e da tutte quelle cose, dalle quali non avete potuto esser giustificati nella legge di Mosè.
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.	39 Chiunque crede è giustificato in lui.
40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;	40 Badate ora che non venga su voi quello che è scritto ne' profeti:
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.	41 "O dispregiatori, ponete mente e stupite, e disperdetevi; che io fo un'opera a' giorni vostri; opera che voi non credete se qualcuno ve la racconterà"».
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.	42 Or mentre alcuni se n'uscivano, gli apostoli furon pregati di tornar nel sabato seguente a parlare delle medesime cose.
43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.	43 Sciolta che fu poi l'adunanza, molti dei Giudei e de' proseliti pii seguirono Paolo e Barnaba; i quali, con calde parole, li persuasero a perseverare nella grazia di Dio.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.	44 Il sabato seguente, quasi tutta la città si radunò per sentire la parola di Dio.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.	45 Ma i Giudei, vista la gran folla, furon ripieni di zelo, e, bestemmiando, contradicevano alle cose dette da Paolo.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.	46 Allora Paolo e Barnaba dissero risolutamente: «Era necessario che a voi per primi si annunciasse la parola di Dio; ma, poichè la respingete e vi fate indegni della vita eterna, ecco noi ci volgiamo ai Gentili;
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.	47 ed è proprio questo l'ordine che il Signore ci ha dato: - Io ti ho posto per esser luce delle Genti, affinchè tu porti la salvezza sino agli estremi confini della terra -».
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.	48 I Gentili, a udir questo, n'ebbero letizia, e glorificavano la parola del Signore; e tutti quelli che eran preordinati alla vita eterna, credettero.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.	49 Così la parola del Signore si spandeva per tutto il paese.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.	50 Ma i Giudei istigarono donne religiose e ragguardevoli e i maggiori della città, e suscitarono una persecuzione contro Paolo e Barnaba, e li scacciarono dalle loro contrade.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.	51 Ed essi, scossa contro quelli la polvere de' loro piedi, vennero a Iconio;
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.	52 e i discepoli erano pieni d'allegrezza e di Spirito Santo.
