Acts of the Apostles 13

1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 En la Iglesia de Antioquía había profetas y doctores, entre los cuales estaban Bernabé y Simeón, llamado el Negro, Lucio de Cirene, Manahén, amigo de infancia del tetrarca Herodes, y Saulo.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.	2 Un día, mientras celebraban el culto del Señor y ayunaban, el Espíritu Santo les dijo: «Resérvenme a Saulo y a Bernabé para la obra a la cual los he llamado».
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.	3 Ellos, después de haber ayunado y orado, les impusieron las manos y los despidieron.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.	4 Saulo y Bernabé, enviados por el Espíritu Santo, fueron a Seleucia y de allí se embarcaron para Chipre.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.	5 Al llegar a Salamina anunciaron la Palabra de Dios en las sinagogas de los judíos, y Juan colaboraba con ellos.
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus:	6 Recorrieron toda la isla y llegaron hasta Pafos, donde encontraron a un mago judío llamado Barjesús, que se hacía pasar por profeta
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.	7 y estaba vinculado al procónsul Sergio Pablo, hombre de gran prudencia. Este hizo llamar a Bernabé y a Saulo, porque deseaba escuchar la Palabra de Dios.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.	8 Pero los discípulos chocaron con la oposición de Barjesús –llamado Elimas, que significa mago– el cual quería impedir que el procónsul abrazara la fe.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,	9 Saulo, llamado también Pablo, lleno del Espíritu Santo, clavó los ojos en él,
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?	10 y le dijo: «Hombre falso y lleno de maldad, hijo del demonio, enemigo de la justicia, ¿cuándo dejarás de torcer los rectos caminos del Señor?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.	11 Ahora la mano del Señor va a caer sobre ti: quedarás ciego y privado por un tiempo de la luz del sol». En ese mismo momento, se vio envuelto en oscuridad y tinieblas, y andaba a tientas buscando a alguien que le tendiera la mano.
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.	12 Al ver lo que había sucedido, el procónsul, profundamente impresionado por la doctrina del Señor, abrazó la fe.
13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.	13 Desde Pafos, donde se embarcaron, Pablo y sus compañeros llegaron a Perge de Panfilia. Juan se separó y volvió a Jerusalén,
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.	14 pero ellos continuaron su viaje, y de Perge fueron a Antioquía de Pisidia. El sábado entraron en la sinagoga y se sentaron.
15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.	15 Después de la lectura de la Ley y de los Profetas, los jefes de la sinagoga les mandaron a decir: «Hermanos, si tienen que dirigir al pueblo alguna exhortación, pueden hablar».
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.	16 Entonces Pablo se levantó y, pidiendo silencio con un gesto, dijo: «Escúchenme, israelitas y todos los que temen a Dios.
17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.	17 El Dios de Este Pueblo, el Dios de Israel, eligió a nuestros padres y los convirtió en un gran Pueblo, cuando todavía vivían como extranjeros en Egipto. Luego, con el poder de su brazo, los hizo salir de allí
18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.	18 y los cuidó durante cuarenta años en el desierto.
19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.	19 Después, en el país de Canaán, destruyó a siete naciones y les dio en posesión sus tierras,
20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.	20 al cabo de unos cuatrocientos cincuenta años. A continuación, les dio Jueces hasta el profeta Samuel.
21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.	21 Pero ellos pidieron un rey y Dios les dio a Saúl, hijo de Quis, de la tribu de Benjamín, por espacio de cuarenta años.
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.	22 Y cuando Dios desechó a Saúl, les suscitó como rey a David, de quien dio este testimonio: He encontrado en David, el hijo de Jesé, a un hombre conforme a mi corazón que cumplirá siempre mi voluntad.
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:	23 De la descendencia de David, como lo había prometido, Dios hizo surgir para Israel un Salvador, que es Jesús.
24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.	24 Como preparación a su venida, Juan había predicado un bautismo de penitencia a todo el pueblo de Israel.
25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.	25 Y al final de su carrera, Juan decía: «Yo no soy el que ustedes creen, pero sepan que después de mí viene aquel a quien yo no soy digno de desatar las sandalias».
26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.	26 Hermanos, este mensaje de salvación está dirigido a ustedes: los descendientes de Abraham y los que temen a Dios.
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.	27 En efecto, la gente de Jerusalén y sus jefes no reconocieron a Jesús, ni entendieron las palabras de los profetas que se leen cada sábado, pero las cumplieron sin saberlo, condenado a Jesús.
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.	28 Aunque no encontraron nada en él que mereciera la muerte, pidieron a Pilato que lo condenara.
29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.	29 Después de cumplir todo lo que estaba escrito de él, lo bajaron del patíbulo y lo pusieron en el sepulcro.
30 But God raised him from the dead:	30 Pero Dios lo resucitó de entre los muertos
31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.	31 y durante un tiempo se apareció a los que habían subido con él de Galilea a Jerusalén, los mismos que ahora son sus testigos delante del pueblo.
32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,	32 Y nosotros les anunciamos a ustedes esta Buena Noticia: la promesa que Dios hizo a nuestros padres,
33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.	33 fue cumplida por él en favor de sus hijos, que somos nosotros, resucitando a Jesús, como está escrito en el Salmo segundo: Tú eres mi Hijo; yo te he engendrado hoy.
34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.	34 Que Dios lo ha resucitado de entre los muertos y que no habrá de someterse a la corrupción, es lo que el mismo Dios ha declarado diciendo: Cumpliré las santas promesas hechas a David, aquellas que no pueden fallar.
35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.	35 Por eso también dice en otro pasaje: No permitirás que tu Santo sufra la corrupción.
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:	36 Sin embargo David, después de haber cumplido la voluntad de Dios en su tiempo, murió, fue a reunirse con sus padres y sufrió la corrupción.
37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.	37 Pero aquel a quien Dios resucitó no sufrió la corrupción.
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:	38 Ustedes deben saber que la remisión de los pecados les ha sido anunciada por él. Y la justificación que ustedes no podían alcanzar por la Ley de Moisés, gracias a él,
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.	39 la alcanza todo el que cree.
40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;	40 Tengan cuidado de que no les suceda lo que dijeron los profetas:
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.	41 "¡Ustedes, los que desprecian, llénense de estupor y ocúltense! Porque en estos días voy a realizar algo, que si alguien lo contara no lo podrían creer"».
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.	42 A la salida, les pidieron que retomaran el mismo tema el sábado siguiente.
43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.	43 Cuando se disolvió la asamblea, muchos judíos y prosélitos que adoraban a Dios siguieron a Pablo y a Bernabé. Estos conversaban con ellos, exhortándolos a permanecer fieles a la gracia de Dios.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.	44 Casi toda la ciudad se reunió el sábado siguiente para escuchar la Palabra de Dios.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.	45 Al ver esa multitud, los judíos se llenaron de envidia y con injurias contradecían las palabras de Pablo.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.	46 Entonces Pablo y Bernabé, con gran firmeza, dijeron: «A ustedes debíamos anunciar en primer lugar la Palabra de Dios, pero ya que la rechazan y no se consideran dignos de la Vida eterna, nos dirigimos ahora a los paganos.
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.	47 Así nos ha ordenado el Señor: "Yo te he establecido para ser la luz de las naciones, para llevar la salvación hasta los confines de la tierra"».
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.	48 Al oír esto, los paganos, llenos de alegría, alabaron la Palabra de Dios, y todos los que estaban destinados a la vida eterna abrazaron la fe.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.	49 Así la Palabra del Señor se iba extendiendo por toda la región.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.	50 Pero los judíos instigaron a unas mujeres piadosas que pertenecían a la aristocracia y a los principales de la ciudad, provocando una persecución contra Pablo y Bernabé, y los echaron de su territorio.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.	51 Estos, sacudiendo el polvo de sus pies en señal de protesta contra ellos, se dirigieron a Iconio.
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.	52 Los discípulos, por su parte, quedaron llenos de alegría y del Espíritu Santo.
