John 3

1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:	1 Or v'era tra i Farisei uno chiamato Nicodemo, dei capi dei Giudei.
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.	2 Questi andò da Gesù di notte e gli disse: Maestro, noi sappiamo che tu da Dio sei venuto ad insegnare, perchè nessuno può fare i tuoi prodigi, se Dio non è con lui.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.	3 Gesù gli rispose: In verità, in verità ti dico, che se uno non rinascerà di nuovo non può vedere il regno di Dio.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?	4 Nicodemo gli chiese: Come può un uomo nascere quand'è vecchio? Può forse ritornare nel seno della madre per essere rigenerato?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.	5 Gesù rispose: In verità, in verità ti dico: chi non rinascerà per acqua e Spirito Santo, non può entrare nel regno di Dio.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.	6 Ciò che è generato dalla carne è carne, e ciò che nasce dallo spirito è spirito.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.	7 Non ti maravigliare se t'ho détto: bisogna che siate rigenerati di nuovo.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.	8 Lo spirito dove vuole spira e ne senti la voce e non sai nè donde venga, nè ove vada, così d'ogni nato dallo spirito.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?	9 E come è possibile tutto questo? chiese Nicodemo.
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?	10 Gesù gli rispose: Come, tu sei maestro in Israele, e non lo sai?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.	11 In verità, in verità ti dico, che noi parliamo di quel che sappiamo, ed attestiamo quello che abbiamo visto, ma voi non accettate la nostra testimonianza.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?	12 Se vi ho parlato di cose terreno e non credete, come crederete se vi parlerò di cose celesti?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.	13 Or nessuno è asceso al cielo se non chi dal cielo discese: il Figlio dell'uomo che è in cielo.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:	14 E come Mosè nel deserto innalzò il serpente, è necessario che nella stessa guisa sia innalzato il Figlio dell'uomo,
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.	15 affinché chiunque crede in lui non perisca, ma abbia la vita eterna.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.	16 Così adunque Dio ha amato il mondo che ha dato il suo Figlio Unigenito, affinchè ognuno che crede in lui non perisca, ma abbia la vita eterna.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.	17 Infatti Dio non ha mandato il Figlio suo al mondo per giudicare il mondo, ma perchè il mondo sia per mezzo di lui salvato.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.	18 Chi crede in lui non è condannato; ma chi non crede è già condannato, perchè non crede nel nome dell'unigenito Figlio di Dio.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.	19 E la condanna sta in questo: che la luce è venuta nel mondo e gli uomini amaron più le tenebre della luce, perchè le loro opere eran malvagie.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.	20 Infatti chi fa il male odia la luce e alla luce non si accosta, perchè non sian ripreso le opere sue.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.	21 Chi invece pratica secondo la verità, si accosta alla luce affinchè siano manifeste le opere sue, che sono fatte secondo Dio.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.	22 Dopo questo Gesù con i suoi discepoli andò nel paese della Giudea; e vi si trattenne con essi, e battezzava.
23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.	23 Ed anche Giovanni stava a battezzare in Ennon, vicino a Salini, perchè, essendovi abbondanza d'acqua, la gente andava lì a farsi battezzare:
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.	24 Chè Giovanni non era ancora stato messo in prigione.
25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.	25 Or nacque disputa tra i discepoli di Giovanni ed i Giudei intorno alla Purificazione.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.	26 E andarono da Giovanni e gli dissero: Maestro, colui che era con te oltre il Giordano, cui rendesti testimonianza, ecco, egli battezza, e tutti vanno da lui.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.	27 Giovanni rispose: L'uomo non può ricevere cosa alcuna se non gli viene data dal cielo.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.	28 Voi stessi mi siete testimoni come io dissi: io non sono il Cristo; ma fui mandato innanzi a lui.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.	29 E' sposo, chi ha la spòsa: ma l'amico dello sposo, che sta ad ascoltarlo, si riempie di gioia alla voce dello sposo. Tal mio gaudio dunque si è compiuto.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.	30 Bisogna, che egli cresca ed io diminuisca.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.	31 Colui che viene di lassù è sopra di tutti. E chi vien dalla terra alla terra appartiene e parla della terra. Colui che viene dal cielo è sopra tutti.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.	32 Ed egli attesta cose che ha vedute e udite, eppure nessuno accetta la sua testimonianza.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.	33 Ma chi l'accetta afferma che Dio è verace.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.	34 Quello mandato da Dio parla parole di Dio, perchè Dio non gli dà lo Spirito con misura.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.	35 Il Padre ama il Figlio e nelle sue mani ha posto ogni cosa.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.	36 Chi crede nel Figlio ha la vita eterna, ma chi non crede nel Figlio non vedrà la vita, chè anzi l'ira di Dio rimane su di lui.
