1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:	1 - Gesù vista tanta folla, salì sul monte e, quando fu seduto, gli s'accostarono i discepoli.
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,	2 Allora incominciò ad ammaestrarli, dicendo:
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.	3 Beati i poveri in ispirito, perchè di loro è il regno dei cieli.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.	4 Beati i mansueti, perchè essi possederanno la terra.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.	5 Beati coloro che piangono, perchè essi saranno consolati.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.	6 Beati quelli che hanno fame e sete della giustizia, perchè essi saranno saziati.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.	7 Beati i misericordiosi, perchè essi troveranno misericordia.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.	8 Beati i puri di cuore, perchè essi vedranno Dio.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.	9 Beati i pacifici, perchè saranno chiamati figli di Dio.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.	10 Beati quelli che soffrono persecuzioni per causa della giustizia, perchè di loro è il regno dei cieli.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.	11 Beati voi, quando vi oltraggeranno, e mentendo, diranno di voi ogni male per causa mia;
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.	12 rallegratevi ed esultate, perchè grande è la vostra ricompensa, nei cieli; poichè così han perseguitato i profeti che vi precedettero.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.	13 Voi siete il sale della terra. Ora se il sale diventa insipido, con che gli si renderà il suo sapore? Non è più buono ad altro che ad essere buttato via e calpestato dalla gente.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.	14 Voi siete la luce del mondo. Una città posta su un monte non può rimaner nascosta,
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.	15 e non si accende una lucerna per metterla sotto il moggio, ma sul candeliere, perchè faccia lume a tutti quelli che sono in casa.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.	16 La vostra luce risplenda dinanzi agli uomini in modo tale che, vedendo le vostre opere buone, diano gloria al Padre vostro, che è nei cieli.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.	17 Non vogliate credere che io sia venuto per abolire la legge o i Profeti: non son venuto per abolirli, ma per completarli.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.	18 In verità vi dico che finchè non passeranno cielo e terra, non perirà neppure uno jota o un apice della legge, prima che tutto sia adempito.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.	19 Chi dunque violerà un solo di questi minimi precetti e insegnerà agli uomini a fare altrettanto, sarà chiamato minimo nel regno dei cieli; chi invece li metterà in pratica e li insegnerà, sarà chiamato grande nel regno dei cieli.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.	20 E io vi dico che se la vostra giustizia non sarà maggiore di quella degli Scribi e dei Farisei non entrerete nel regno dei cieli.
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:	21 Voi avete udito che fu detto agli antichi: - Non uccidere - e chi ucciderà sarà sottoposto al giudizio.
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.	22 Io invece dico a voi: - Chiunque si adira contro il suo fratello, merita di essere giudicato. E chi dirà al fratel suo: " Raca ", sarà sottoposto al Sinedrio. E chi gli dirà " Stolto ", sarà condannato al fuoco della Geenna. -
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;	23 Se dunque tu, nel fare la tua offerta sull'altare, ti rammenti che il tuo fratello ha qualcosa contro di te,
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.	24 lascia lì la tua offerta davanti all'altare e va' prima a riconciliarti col tuo fratello; poi ritorna a fare l'offerta.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.	25 Mettiti presto d'accordo col tuo avversario mentre te ne vai con lui affinchè il tuo avversario non ti consegni al giudice e questi alle guardie e tu venga gettato nel carcere.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.	26 In verità ti dico che tu non ne uscirai prima d'aver pagato l'ultimo centesimo.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:	27 Voi avete udito che fu detto agli antichi: - Non commettete adulterio. -
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.	28 Io invece dico a voi: - Chiunque guarda una donna per desiderarla ha già, in cuor suo, commesso adulterio con lei. -
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.	29 Ora se il tuo occhio destro ti è occasione di scandalo devi strappartelo e gettarlo lungi da te; è molto meglio per te che perisca un solo tuo membro, piuttosto che l'intero tuo corpo sia gettato nella Geenna.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.	30 E se la tua mano destra ti è occasione di scandalo, tagliala via e gettala lungi da te; meglio per te perdere un solo membro, piuttosto che andare nella Geenna con tutto il corpo.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:	31 Fu anche detto: - Chiunque rimanda la propria moglie, le dia il libello del divorzio. -
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.	32 Io invece dico a voi: - Chiunque manda via la propria moglie, salvo il caso di fornicazione, la rende adultera, e chiunque sposa la donna mandata via, commette adulterio. -
33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:	33 Voi avete anche udito che fu detto agli antichi: - Non spergiurare, ma mantieni al Signore i tuoi giuramenti. -
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:	34 Io invece dico a voi di non far giuramenti, nè per il cielo, che è il trono di Dio,
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.	35 nè per la terra, che è lo sgabello dei suoi piedi, nè per Gerusalemme, che è la città del gran re.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.	36 Non giurare neppure per il tuo capo, mentre non puoi far bianco o nero uno solo dei tuoi capelli.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.	37 Ma il vostro linguaggio sia: - Sì, sì, no, no. - Ciò che si dice in più, vien dal maligno.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:	38 Voi avete udito che è stato detto: - Occhio per occhio e dente per dente. -
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.	39 Io invece dico a voi di non far resistenza al malvagio; ma se uno ti percuote sulla guancia destra, porgigli anche la sinistra;
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.	40 e a chi vuol chiamarti in giudizio per toglierti la tunica, cedigli anche il mantello;
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.	41 e con chi ti vuole obbligare a fare un miglio con lui, fanne due.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.	42 Dà a chi ti domanda, e non voltar le spalle a chi ti chiede un prestito.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.	43 Voi avete udito che è stato detto: - Amerai il tuo prossimo e odierai il tuo nemico. -
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;	44 Io invece dico a voi: - Amate i vostri nemici, fate del bene a chi vi odia e pregate per quelli che vi perseguitano e vi calunniano,
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.	45 affinchè siate figli del Padre vostro, che è nei cieli, il quale fa sorgere il sole sui buoni e sui cattivi e fa piovere sui giusti e sugl'ingiusti. -
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?	46 Infatti se voi amate coloro che vi amano, qual ricompensa meritate? Non fanno forse altrettanto anche i pubblicani?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?	47 E se voi salutate soltanto i vostri fratelli, che fate di straordinario? Non fanno forse altrettanto anche i Gentili?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.	48 Siate dunque perfetti com'è perfetto il Padre vostro, che è nei cieli.
