1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:	1 Gesù vista quella turba, salì sopra un monte: ed essendosi egli posto a sedere, si accostarono a lui i suoi discepoli.
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,	2 È aperta la sua bocca gli ammaestrava dicendo:
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.	3 Beati i poveri di spirito: perché di questi è il regno de' cieli.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.	4 Beati i mansueti: perché questi possederanno la terra,
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.	5 Beati coloro, che piangono: perchè questi saran consolati.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.	6 Beati quelli, che hanno fame, e sete della giustizia: perché questi saranno satollati.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.	7 Beati i misericordiosi: perché questi troveranno misericordia.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.	8 Beati coloro, che hanno il cuor puro: perché questi vedranno Dio.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.	9 Beati i pacifici: perché saranno chiamati figli di Dio.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.	10 Beati quei, che soffrono persecuzione per amore della giustizia: perché di questi è il regno de' cieli.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.	11 Beati siete voi, quando gli uomini vi malediranno, e vi perseguiteranno, e diranno di voi falsamente ogni male per causa mia.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.	12 Rallegratevi, ed esultate: perché grande è la vostra ricompensa ne' cieli: imperocché cosi hanno perseguitato i profeti, che sono stati prima di voi.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.	13 Voi siete il sale della terra. Che se il sale diventa scipito, con che si salerà egli? E' non è più buono a nulla, se non ad esser, gettato via, e calpestato dalla gente.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.	14 Voi siete la luce del mondo. Non può essere ascosa una città situata sopra di un monte.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.	15 Né accendono la lucerna, e la mettono sotto il moggio, ma sopra il candeliere, affinchè faccia lume a tutta la gente di casa:
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.	16 Così risplenda la vostra luce dinanzi agli uomini, affinchè veggano le vostre buone opere, e glorifichino il vostro Padre, che è ne' cieli.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.	17 Non vi deste a credere, che io sia venuto per isciogliere la legge, o i profeti: non son venuto per iscioglierla, ma per adempirla.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.	18 Imperocché in verità vi dico, che se non passa il cielo, e la terra, non iscatterà un jota, o un punto solo della legge, sino a tanto che tutto sia adempito.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.	19 Chiunque pertanto violerà uno di questi comandamenti minimi, e così insegnerà agli uomini, sarà chiamato minimo nel regno de' cieli: ma colui, che avrà e operato, e insegnato, questi sarà tenuto grande nel regno de' cieli.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.	20 Imperocché io vi dico, che se la vostra giustizia non sarà più abbondante, che quella degli Scribi, e Farisei, non entrerete nel regno dei cieli.
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:	21 Avete sentito, che è stato detto agli antichi: Non ammazzare: e chiunque avrà ammazzato, sarà reo in giudizio.
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.	22 Ma io vi dico, che chiunque adirerà contro del suo fratello, sarà ito in giudizio. E chi avrà detto al suo fratello raca, sarà reo nel consesso. E chi gli avrà detto stolto, sarà reo del fuoco della gehenna.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;	23 Se adunque tu stai per fare l'offerta all'altare, e ivi ti viene alla memoria, che il tuo fratello ha qualche cosa contro di te:
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.	24 Posa lì la tua offerta davanti all'altare, e va' a riconciliarti prima col tuo fratello: e poi ritorna a dare la tua offerta.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.	25 Accordati presto col tuo avversario, mentre sei con lui per istrada: affinchè per disgrazia il tuo avversario non ti ponga in mano del giudice: e il giudice in mano del ministro; e tu venga cacciato in prigione.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.	26 Ti dico in verità: non uscirai di qui prima d'aver pagato sino all'ultimo picciolo.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:	27 Avete sentito, che fu detto agli antichi: Non fare adulterio.
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.	28 Ma io vi dico, che chiunque guarda una donna per desiderarla, ha già commesso in cuor suo adulterio con essa.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.	29 Che se il tuo occhio destro ti scandalizza, cavalo, e gettalo da te; imperocché è meglio per te, che perisca uno de' tuoi membri, che esser buttato tutto il tuo corpo nell'inferno.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.	30 E se la tua mano destra ti scandalizza, troncala, e gettala lungi da te: imperocché è meglio per te, che perisca uno de' tuoi membri, che andare tutto il tuo corpo nell'inferno.
31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:	31 E stato pur detto: Chiunque rimanda la propria moglie, le dia il libello di ripudio.
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.	32 Ma io vi dico, che chiunque rimanda la sua moglie, eccetto per ragion di adulterio, la fa divenire adultera: e chi sposa la donna ripudiata, commetta adulterio.
33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:	33 Slmilmente avete udito, che è stato detto agli antichi: Non violare il giuramento: ma rendi al Signore quanto hai giurato.
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:	34 Ma io vi dico di non giurare in modo alcuno, né pel cielo, perché è il trono di Dio:
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.	35 Né per la terra, perché è lo sgabello de' piedi di lui: né per Gerusalemme, perché ella è la Città del gran Re.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.	36 Né giurerai per la tua testa, atteso che tu non puoi far bianco, o nero uno de' tuoi capelli.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.	37 Ma sia il vostro parlare: si sì: no no; imperocché il di più vien da cosa mala.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:	38 Avete udito, che è stato detto: Occhio per occhio, e dente per dente.
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.	39 Ma io vi dico di non resistere al male: ma a chi ti percuoterà nella destra guancia, presentagli anche l'altra.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.	40 E a colui, che vuol muoverti lite e toglierti la tua tonaca, cedigli anche il mantello:
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.	41 E se uno ti strascinerà a correre per un miglio, va' con esso anche altre due miglia.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.	42 Da' a chiunque ti chiede: e non rivolger la faccia da chi vuoi chiederti in prestito qualche cosa.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.	43 Avete udito, che fu detto: Amerai il prossimo tuo, e odierai il tuo nemico.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;	44 Ma io vi dico: Amate i vostri nemici: fate del bene a coloro, che vi odiano; e orate per coloro, che vi perseguitano, e vi calunniano:
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.	45 Affinchè siate figli del Padre vostro, che è ne' cieli, il quale fa, che levisi il suo sole sopra i buoni, e sopra i cattivi; e manda la pioggia pe' giusti, e per gl'iniqui.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?	46 Imperocché, se amerete coloro, che vi amano, che premio avrete voi? non fanno eglino altrettanto anche i pubblicani?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?	47 E se saluterete solo i vostri fratelli, cosa fate di più (degli altri) non fann'eglino altrettanto i gentili?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.	48 Siate adunque voi perfetti, comeè perfetto il Padre vostro, che è ne' cieli.
