Zephaniah 2

1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;	1 Venez, rassemblez-vous, nation indigne d'être aimée,
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger come upon you.	2 avant que le décret n'enfante ce jour qui passera comme un tourbillon de poussière, avant que la fureur de la colère du Seigneur fonde sur vous, avant que le jour de l'indignation du Seigneur fonde sur vous.
3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.	3 Cherhez le Seigneur, vous tous qui êtes doux sur la terre, qui avez agi selon Ses préceptes; cherchez Celui qui est juste, cherchez Celui qui est doux, afin d'essayer de trouver un abri au jour de la colère du Seigneur.
4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.	4 Car Gaza sera détruite et Ascalon deviendra un désert; on chassera Azot en plein midi, et Accaron sera déracinée.
5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.	5 Malheur à vous qui habitez sur la côte de la mer, peuple de perdus! La parole du Seigneur va tomber sur vous, Chanaan, terre des Philistins; Je t'exterminerai, de sorte que tu n'auras plus d'habitants.
6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.	6 La côte de la mer sera alors un lieu de repos pour les pasteurs, et un parc pour les brebis;
7 And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.	7 elle sera l'héritage de ceux qui seront demeurés de la maison de Juda: ils trouveront là des pâturages, ils se reposeront le soir dans les maisons d'Ascalon, car le Seigneur leur Dieu les visitera, et Il ramènera leurs captifs.
8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.	8 J'ai entendu les insultes de Moab et les blasphèmes des enfants d'Ammon, qui ont outragé Mon peuple, et qui se sont élevés arrogamment contre ses frontières.
9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.	9 C'est pourquoi, par Ma vie, dit le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, Moab sera comme Sodome, et les enfants d'Ammon comme Gomorrhe, un amas d'épines sèches, des monceaux de sel et un désert éternel; le reste de Mon peuple les pillera, et ceux de Ma nation qui auront survécu en seront les maîtres.
10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.	10 Cela leur arrivera à cause de leur orgueil, parce qu'ils ont blasphémé et traité avec arrogance le peuple du Seigneur des armées.
11 The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.	11 Le Seigneur sera terrible à leur égard, et Il anéantira tous les dieux de la terre; et chacun L'adorera dans son pays, dans toutes les îles des nations.
12 Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.	12 Mais vous aussi, Ethiopiens, vous tomberez morts sous Mon glaive.
13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.	13 Il étendra Sa main contre l'aquilon, et Il détruira Assur; Il fera de leur ville si belle une solitude, un lieu inhabité et comme un désert.
14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.	14 Les troupeaux se reposeront au milieu d'elle, et toutes les bêtes des nations; le butor et le hérisson habiteront dans ses portiques, les oiseaux crieront sur les fenêtres, et le corbeau sur les portes, car J'anéantirai sa puissance.
15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.	15 Voilà la ville orgueilleuse qui se tenait si assurée, qui disait en son coeur: Je suis, et en dehors de moi il n'y en a pas d'autre. Comment a-t-elle été changée en un désert, en un repaire de bêtes sauvages? Tous ceux qui passeront par elle siffleront et agiteront la main.
