Zephaniah 2

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;	1 Amoncelez-vous, amoncelez-vous, ô nation sans honte,
2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger come upon you.	2 avant que vous ne soyez chassés comme la bale qui disparaît en un jour, avant que ne vienne survous l'ardente colère de Yahvé (avant que ne vienne sur vous le jour de la colère de Yahvé).
3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.	3 Cherchez Yahvé, vous tous les humbles de la terre, qui accomplissez ses ordonnances. Cherchezla justice, cherchez l'humilité: peut-être serez-vous à l'abri au jour de la colère de Yahvé.
4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.	4 Oui, Gaza va être abandonnée, Ashqelôn sera une solitude. Ashdod, en plein midi on la chassera;Eqrôn sera déracinée.
5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.	5 Malheur aux habitants de la ligue de la mer, à la nation des Kerétiens! Voici la parole de Yahvécontre vous: "Canaan, terre des Philistins, je vais te faire périr faute d'habitants!"
6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.	6 La ligue de la mer sera réduite en pâtures, en pacages pour les bergers et en enclos pour lesmoutons.
7 And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.	7 Et la ligue appartiendra au reste de la maison de Juda; ils y mèneront paître; le soir, ils sereposeront au milieu des maisons d'Ashqelôn; car Yahvé leur Dieu les visitera et il accomplira leur restauration.
8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.	8 J'ai entendu l'insulte de Moab et les sarcasmes des fils d'Ammon, lorsqu'ils insultaient mon peupleet se glorifiaient de leur territoire.
9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.	9 C'est pourquoi, par ma vie! - oracle de Yahvé Sabaot, Dieu d'Israël: "Moab deviendra commeSodome et les fils d'Ammon comme Gomorrhe: un domaine de chardons, un monceau de sel, une solitude àjamais. Le reste de mon peuple les pillera, ce qui subsistera de ma nation en recevra l'héritage."
10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.	10 Ce sera le prix de leur orgueil, puisqu'ils ont proféré des insultes et des paroles hautaines contrele peuple de Yahvé Sabaot.
11 The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.	11 Terrible sera Yahvé pour eux. Quand il aura supprimé tous les dieux de la terre, elles seprosterneront devant lui, chacune sur son propre sol, toutes les îles des nations.
12 Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.	12 Vous aussi, Ethiopiens: "Ils seront transpercés de mon épée."
13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.	13 Il lèvera la main contre le Nord et réduira Assur en ruines; il fera de Ninive une solitude, terrearide comme le désert.
14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.	14 Au milieu d'elle se reposeront les troupeaux; toutes sortes de bêtes: même le choucas, même lehérisson gîteront la nuit parmi ses sculptures; le hibou poussera son cri à la fenêtre et le corbeau sur le seuil, carle cèdre a été arraché.
15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.	15 C'est la cité joyeuse qui trônait avec assurance, celle qui disait en son coeur: "Moi, sans égale!"Comment est-elle devenue un objet de stupeur, un repaire pour les bêtes? Quiconque passe auprès d'elle siffle etagite la main.
