1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.	1 Parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par le Seigneur, la dixième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda, qui est la dix-huitième année de Nabuchodonosor.
2 For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.	2 Alors l'armée du roi de Babylone assiégeait Jérusalem, et le prophète Jérémie était enfermé dans le vestibule de la prison qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda.
3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;	3 Car Sédécias, roi de Juda, l'avait fait enfermer, en disant : Pourquoi prophétises-tu en disant : Ainsi parle le Seigneur : Voici, je livrerai cette ville entre les mains du roi de Babylone, et il la prendra ; (?)
4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;	4 et (Et) Sédécias, roi de Juda, n'échappera pas à la main des Chaldéens, mais il sera livré entre les mains du roi de Babylone ; sa bouche parlera à sa bouche, et ses yeux verront ses yeux ; (.)
5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper?	5 et (Et) Sédécias sera mené à Babylone, et il y demeurera jusqu'à ce que je le visite, dit le Seigneur ; si vous combattez contre les Chaldéens vous n'aurez aucun succès ? (.)
6 And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	6 Jérémie (répon)dit : la parole du Seigneur m'a été adressée en ces termes :
7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.	7 Voici qu'Hanaméel, ton cousin germain, fils de Sellum, viendra auprès de toi, pour te dire : Achète mon champ qui est à Anathoth, car c'est toi qui as le droit de l'acheter en vertu de la (ta) parenté.
8 So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.	8 Et Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, vint auprès de moi dans le vestibule de la prison, selon la parole du Seigneur, et il me dit : Achète mon champ qui est à Anathoth, dans la terre de Benjamin, car l'héritage t'appartient, et tu as le droit de l'acheter, comme proche parent. Or je compris que c'était la parole du Seigneur.
9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.	9 J'achetai donc d'Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, le champ qui est à Anathoth, et je lui pesai l'argent : sept sicles (statères), et dix pièces d'argent.
10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.	10 Et j'écrivis le contrat, que je cachetai, et je pris des témoins, et je pesai l'argent dans une balance.
11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:	11 Je pris ensuite le contrat d'acquisition cacheté, avec les dispositions et les clauses, et les sceaux extérieurs ;
12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.	12 et je donnai ce contrat d'acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, fils de Maasias, en présence d'Hanaméel, mon cousin germain, en présence des témoins qui avaient signé le contrat d'acquisition, et en présence de tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans le vestibule de la prison ;
13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying,	13 et je donnai devant eux cet ordre à Baruch, en disant :
14 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.	14 Ainsi parle le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d'Israël : Prends ces contrats, ce contrat d'acquisition qui est cacheté, et cet autre qui est ouvert, et mets-les dans un vase de terre ; afin qu'ils puissent se conserver longtemps ;
15 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.	15 car ainsi parle le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d'Israël : On achètera encore des maisons, des champs et des vignes dans ce pays.
16 Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,	16 Et après que j'eus remis le contrat d'acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, je priai le Seigneur, en disant :
17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:	17 Hélas, hélas, hélas, Seigneur (, mon) Dieu ! c'est vous qui avez fait le ciel et la terre par votre grande puissance et par votre bras étendu ; rien ne vous est (sera) difficile ;
18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,	18 vous (qui) faites miséricorde à des milliers, et vous (qui) rendez l'iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants (fils) qui viennent après eux ; ô très fort, grand et puissant, le Seigneur des armées est votre nom.
19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:	19 Vous êtes grand en conseil, et incompréhensible dans vos pensées ; vos yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des enfants d'Adam, pour rendre à chacun selon ses voies et selon le fruit de sesœuvres (inventions).
20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;	20 Vous avez fait des miracles et des prodiges dans le pays d'Egypte jusqu'à ce jour, et dans Israël, et parmi les hommes, et vous vous êtes fait un nom tel qu'il est aujourd'hui.
21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;	21 Vous avez fait sortir votre peuple Israël de la terre d'Egypte par des miracles (signes) et des prodiges, avec une main forte et un bras étendu, et avec une grande terreur.
22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;	22 Et vous leur avez donné ce pays, que vous aviez juré à leurs pères de leur donner, (un) pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:	23 Ils y sont entrés, et ils l'ont possédé, et ils n'ont pas obéi à votre voix, et ils n'ont pas marché dans votre loi ; ils n'ont pas fait tout ce que vous leur aviez ordonné de faire, et tous ces maux leur sont arrivés.
24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.	24 Voici que des retranchements ont été élevés contre la ville pour la prendre, et elle a été livrée entre les mains des Chaldéens qui l'assiègent, au glaive, à la famine et à la peste, et tout ce que vous avez dit est arrivé, comme vous le voyez vous-même.
25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.	25 Et vous me dites, Seigneur Dieu : Achète un champ à prix d'argent, et prends des témoins, et (quoique) la ville a(it) été livrée entre les mains des Chaldéens.
26 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,	26 Alors la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Jérémie en ces termes :
27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?	27 C'est moi qui suis le Seigneur, le Dieu de toute chair ; y a-t-il rien qui me soit (sera) difficile ?
28 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:	28 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur : Voici, je livrerai cette ville entre les mains des Chaldéens et entre les mains du roi de Babylone, et ils la prendront.
29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.	29 Et les Chaldéens viendront attaquer cette ville ; ils y mettront le feu et ils la brûleront, avec les maisons sur les toits desquelles on sacrifiait à Baal, et on faisait des libations à des dieux étrangers, pour m'irriter.
30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.	30 Car les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda ont toujours fait, depuis leur jeunesse, ce qui est mal à mes yeux ; ces enfants d'Israël, qui jusqu'à maintenant m'irritent (me révoltaient) par lesœuvres de leurs mains, dit le Seigneur.
31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,	31 Car cette ville est devenue l'objet de ma fureur et de mon indignation, depuis le jour où elle a été bâtie jusqu'au jour où je l'enlèverai (elle disparaîtra) de devant ma face,
32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	32 à cause du mal que les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda ont commis pour exciter ma colère, eux et leurs rois, leurs princes, et leurs prêtres, et leurs prophètes, les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.
33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.	33 Ils m'ont tourné le dos et non le visage, lorsque je les enseignais et les instruisais de grand matin ; et ils n'ont pas voulu écouter, ni recevoir l'instruction.
34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.	34 Et ils ont mis leurs idoles dans la maison où mon nom a été invoqué, pour la profaner.
35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.	35 Et ils ont bâti à Baal les hauts lieux qui sont dans la vallée du fils d'Ennom, pour sacrifier (consacrer) à Moloch leurs fils et leurs filles, ce que je ne leur ai pas commandé, et il ne m'est pas venu à la pensée qu'ils commettraient cette abomination, et qu'ils porteraient Juda au péché.
36 And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;	36 Après cela néanmoins, ainsi parle le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, à cette ville, dont vous dites qu'elle sera livrée entre les mains du roi de Babylone, par le glaive, par la famine et par la peste :
37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:	37 Voici, je les rassemblerai de tous les pays où je les aurai chassés dans ma fureur, et dans ma colère, et dans ma grande indignation ; et je les ramènerai en ce lieu, et je les y ferai habiter en sûreté (assurance).
38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:	38 Ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu.
39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:	39 Je leur donnerai un même (seul) cœur et une même (seule) voie, afin qu'ils me craignent tous les jours (de leur vie), et qu'ils soient heureux, eux et leurs enfants après eux.
40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.	40 Je ferai avec eux une alliance éternelle, et je ne cesserai pas de leur faire du bien, et je mettrai ma crainte dans leur cœur, afin qu'ils ne se retirent pas de moi.
41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.	41 Et je me réjouirai à leur sujet, lorsque je leur aurai fait du bien ; je les planterai dans ce pays, de tout mon cœur et de toute mon âme.
42 For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.	42 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur : De même que j'ai amené sur ce peuple tous ces grands maux, de même j'amènerai sur eux tout le bien que je leur promets,
43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.	43 et l'on achètera des champs (auprès des possesseurs) dans ce pays, dont vous dites qu'il est désert, parce qu'il n'y reste ni homme bi bête, et parce qu'il a été livré entre les mains des Chaldéens.
44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.	44 On y achètera des champs à prix d'argent, on en écrira les contrats, et on y mettra le sceau, et on emploiera des témoins, dans la terre de Benjamin et aux environs de Jérusalem, dans les villes de Juda, dans les villes des montagnes, dans les villes de la plaine et dans les villes du midi, car je ramènerai leurs captifs, dit le Seigneur.
