Psalms 81

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.	1 Al maestro di coro. Sulla (melodia) ghittita. Di Asaf.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.	2 Esultate in Dio nostra forza, acclamate al Dio di Giacobbe.
3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.	3 Intonate il salmo e suonate il timpano, la cetra melodiosa con l'arpa.
4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.	4 Suonate la tromba nel novilunio, nel plenilunio, nostro giorno di festa.
5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.	5 Questo è un decreto per Israele, uno statuto del Dio di Giacobbe;

8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;	8 "Gridasti a me nell'angoscia e ti liberai; avvolto nella nube ti diedi risposta; ti misi alla prova alle acque di Meriba".
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.	9 "Ascolta, o popolo mio, ti voglio ammonire; Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!
10 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.	10 Non vi sarà in mezzo a te nessun altro dio, non ti prostrerai a divinità straniere.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.	11 Io sono il Signore, il tuo Dio, che ti ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto. Apri la bocca e io la riempirò".
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.	12 "Ma il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce; Israele non mi ha obbedito.
13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!	13 Per questo l'ho abbandonato alla durezza del suo cuore, lasciando che seguisse il proprio consiglio".
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.	14 "Oh se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse, se Israele camminasse nelle mie vie!
15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.	15 Umilierei in breve i suoi nemici, contro i suoi avversari porterei la mia mano.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.	16 Quelli che l'odiano gli sarebbero sottomessi, sarebbe segnata per sempre la loro sorte.
	17 Li nutrirei con fiore di frumento, li sazierei con miele di roccia".
