1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)	1 Nel dodicesimo mese, il mese di Adar, nel giorno tredicesimo, quando arrivò l'ordine del re e il suo editto per essere eseguito, nel mese in cui i nemici degli Ebrei avevano sperato di trionfare su di essi, la situazione si capovolse e gli Ebrei trionfarono su coloro che li odiavano.
2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.	2 Gli Ebrei si radunarono nelle loro città in ogni provincia del re Assuero per alzare la mano contro coloro che avessero voluto far loro del male e nessuno resistette loro, perché il timore di essi aveva preso tutti i popoli.
3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.	3 Tutti i prìncipi delle province, i satrapi e i governatori al servizio del re sostenevano gli Ebrei, perché anch'essi erano presi dal timore di Mardocheo.
4 For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.	4 Mardocheo infatti era grande nella casa del re e la sua fama si spargeva in ogni provincia, tanto che egli, Mardocheo, diventava sempre più grande.
5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.	5 Gli Ebrei colpirono i loro nemici a colpi di spada: uccisioni e massacri! Fecero quello che vollero di coloro che li odiavano.
6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.	6 Anche nella cittadella di Susa gli Ebrei fecero uccisioni e perirono cinquecento persone;
7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,	7 misero a morte Parsandàta, Dalfòr, Aspàta,
8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,	8 Poràta, Adalia, Aridàta,
9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,	9 Parmàsta, Arisài, Aridài e Vaizàta:
10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.	10 uccisero i dieci figli di Aman, figlio di Ammedàta, persecutore degli Ebrei, ma non stesero la mano sul bottino.
11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.	11 Quando il numero degli uccisi venne a conoscenza del re,
12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.	12 questi disse alla regina Ester: "Nella cittadella di Susa gli Ebrei hanno ucciso cinquecento uomini e i dieci figli di Aman; nelle altre province del re che cosa hanno fatto? Che cosa chiedi di più? Ti sarà dato. Che cosa desideri, perché ti sia fatto?".
13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.	13 Ester disse: "Se sembrerà conveniente al re, sia concesso agli Ebrei di applicare ancora domani l'editto come hanno fatto oggi, e i dieci figli di Aman siano appesi a un patibolo".
14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.	14 Il re disse che così fosse fatto e fu promulgato un editto nella cittadella di Susa e i figli di Aman furono appesi al patibolo.
15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.	15 Gli Ebrei che si trovavano a Susa si radunarono anche nel quattordicesimo giorno del mese di Adar e uccisero a Susa trecento uomini, senza tuttavia stendere la mano sul bottino.
16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,	16 Gli altri Ebrei delle province del re si radunarono per difendere le loro vite e avere tranquillità da parte dei loro nemici, e fra quelli che li odiavano uccisero settantacinquemila persone, senza metter le mani sul bottino.
17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.	17 Era il giorno tredici del mese di Adar; il quattordici si riposarono e fecero banchetti e allegria.
18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof; and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.	18 Gli Ebrei che si trovavano a Susa si radunarono il giorno tredici e il quattordici dello stesso mese e il quindici si riposarono e nello stesso giorno fecero banchetti e allegria.
19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.	19 E' per questo che gli Ebrei sparsi qua e là, che abitano in città lontane, il quattordici del mese di Adar fanno allegria, banchetti e festa e si scambiano doni.
20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,	20 Mardocheo mise per iscritto tutte queste cose e mandò lettere a tutti gli Ebrei che si trovavano nelle province del re Assuero, in quelle vicine e in quelle lontane,
21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,	21 per impegnarli a festeggiare ogni anno il giorno quattordici del mese di Adar e il giorno quindici dello stesso mese,
22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.	22 essendo questi i giorni nei quali gli Ebrei ebbero pace dai loro nemici, e questo il mese in cui la loro sorte cambiò dall'angoscia alla gioia, dal lutto alla festa, diventando questi giorni di festino e di gaudio, di scambio di doni e di offerte ai poveri.
23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;	23 Gli Ebrei accettarono come una istituzione quelle cose che avevano cominciato a fare e che Mardocheo aveva scritto loro:
24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;	24 Aman, figlio di Ammedàta, l'agaghita, persecutore di tutti gli Ebrei, decretò di sterminare gli Ebrei e gettò il pur, cioè la sorte, per massacrarli e distruggerli.
25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.	25 Ma quando la regina Ester fu entrata alla presenza del re, egli ordinò con uno scritto che la malvagità che Aman aveva tramato contro gli Ebrei ricadesse sul suo capo e fece impiccare lui e i suoi figli al patibolo.
26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,	26 Perciò quei giorni furono chiamati Purim, dalla parola pur. In conseguenza di tutte le cose dette in questa lettera e di quello che avevano visto ed era accaduto loro,
27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;	27 gli Ebrei stabilirono di assumersi l'impegno, essi e i loro figli e tutti coloro che sarebbero venuti a unirsi a loro, di non mancare di festeggiare questi due giorni, secondo quanto era stato scritto, al tempo stabilito ogni anno.
28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.	28 Questi giorni vengono ricordati e festeggiati in ogni generazione, in ogni famiglia, in ogni provincia e città, e i giorni di Purim non spariranno in mezzo agli Ebrei e il loro ricordo non si allontanerà dalla loro discendenza.
29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.	29 La regina Ester, figlia di Abicàil, e l'ebreo Mardocheo scrissero, con piena autorità, per confermare questa seconda lettera relativa ai Purim.
30 And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,	30 E mandarono lettere a tutti gli Ebrei, nelle centoventisette province del regno di Assuero, con parole di pace e di fedeltà,
31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.	31 affinché osservassero questi giorni di Purim nel tempo stabilito, come avevano deciso l'ebreo Mardocheo e la regina Ester, e come avevano stabilito per se stessi e i loro discendenti riguardo ai digiuni e ai lamenti.
32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.	32 Così l'ordinanza di Ester fissò la prassi della festa di Purim e fu scritta in un libro.
