1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)	1 Quindi è che il duodecimo mese, il quale come già abbia detto, è chiamato Adar, ai tredici del mese, quando per tutti i Giudei era preparato l'esterminio, e i loro nemici volean dissetarsi del loro sangue, cangiate le cose, principiarono i Giudei a star di sopra, e a prender vendetta de' loro avversari.
2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.	2 E si adunarono in tutte le città, e castelli, e luoghi, per assalire i lor nemici, e persecutori: e nissuno ardi di resistere, perchè il timore della loro grandezza si era impossessato di tutti i popoli.
3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.	3 Imperocché anche i giudici delle Provincie, e i governatori, e i procuratori, e tutte le dignità, che presedevano in ciascun luogo' ai lavori, prestavan favore a' Giudei per timore di Mardocheo,
4 For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.	4 Il quale sapevano, che era principe del palazzo, e che poteva assaissimo: e la rinomanza di lui cresceva ogni giorno, e volava di bocca in bocca.
5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.	5 Cosi i Giudei fecero grande strage de' lor nemici, e li trucidavano rendendo loro quello, che avean preparato per essi:
6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.	6 Talmente che in Susa stessa uccisero cinquecento persone, oltre i dieci figliuoli di Aman figliuolo di Agag, nemico de' Giudei, de quali figliuoli i nomi son questi:
7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,	7 Pharsandata, e Delphon, ed Esphata,
8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,	8 E Phorata, e Adalia, e Aridata,
9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,	9 E Phermesta, e Arisai, e Aridai, e Jezata.
10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.	10 Uccisi i quali, non vollero toccare, né predar nulla delle loro sostanze.
11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.	11 Or fu subito riferito al re il numero di quelli, che erano stati uccisi in Susa:
12 And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.	12 Ed ei disse alla regina: Nella città di Susa i Giudei hanno ucciso cinquecento persone, e di più dieci figliuoli di Aman: quanto grande credi tu, che sia la strage, ch'ei fanno in tutte le provincie? che chiedi di più, e che vuoi ch'io comandi che si faccia?
13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.	13 Ed ella rispose: Se così piace al re, sia data permissione a' Giudei, che come oggi hanno fatto in Susa, così facciano anche domani, e che i dieci figliuoli di Aman siano appesi al patibolo.
14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.	14 E il re ordinò, che così fosse fatto; e subito ne fu affisso l'editto in Susa,e i dieci figliuoli di Aman furono appiccati.
15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.	15 Raunatisi i Giudei a' quattordici del mese di Adar, furono uccisi in Susa trecento uomini: ma non furon da essi saccheggiate le loro sostanze.
16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,	16 E parimente in tutte le provincie soggette all'impero del re; i Giudei si unirono per loro difesa, uccidendo i loro nemici, e persecutori, talmente che il numero degli uccisi arrivò a settanta cinque mila; ma nessuno toccò alcuna cosa delle loro sostanze.
17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.	17 Il dì tredici del mese di Adar principiò dappertutto la uccisione, e il dì quattordici cessarono di uccidere; e questo dì ordinarono, che sarebbe un dì solenne, e che per tutti i seguenti tempi sarebbe celebrato con gaudio, e con festini, e banchetti.
18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof; and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.	18 Ma quelli, che fecer l'uccisione nella città di Susa, la fecero il dì tredici, e il dì quattordici dello stesso mese, e cessaron di uccidere ai quindici; e per questo lo stesso giorno ordinaron, che si selennizzasse con banchetti, e allegrie.
19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.	19 Ma que' Giudei, che dimoravano ne' castelli non murati, e ne' villaggi, destinarono alle allegrezze, e ai conviti il giorno decimo quarto del mese di Adar, onde in quel dì fanno gran festa, e si mandano scambievolmente dei piatti, e delle vivande.
20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,	20 Mardocheo pertanto scrisse tutte queste cose in una lettera, che egli mandò a' Giudei abitanti in tutte le Provincie del re sì vicine, come rimote,
21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,	21 Affinchè il quartodecimo, e il quintodecimo giorno del mese Adar gli avessero in conto di giorni festivi, e li celebrassero d'anno in anno in perpetuo con onore solenne;
22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.	22 Perchè in que' giorni i Giudei preser vendetta de' loro nemici, e il lutto, e la malinconia fu cangiata in festa, e in gaudio; onde questi giorni erano giorni di banchetti, e di letizia, e doveano mandarsi reciprocamente de' piatti, e fare de' presenti ai poverelli.
23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;	23 E gli Ebrei presero per rito solenne tutte quelle cose, che principiarono a fare in quel tempo, e le quali Mardocheo con sue' lettere avea prescritto loro di fare.
24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;	24 Perocché Aman figliuolo di Amadati, della stirpe di Agag, nemico, e persecutor de' Giudei macchinò la loro rovina, e di trucidarli, e sterminarli, e gettò le sorti, o sia in nostro linguaggio il Phur.
25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.	25 E dipoi Esther si presentò al re supplicando, che i tentativi di lui fossero renduti vani mediante lettera del re, e che il male, ch'egli avea pensato di fare agli Ebrei, ricadesse sulla sua testa; e alla fine misero in croce lui, e i suoi figliuoli.
26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,	26 E da quel tempo in poi que' giorni furono detti Phurim, cioè delle sorti, perchè il Phur, o sia la sorte fu gettata nell'urna. E tutti questi avvenimenti si contengono nel volume di questa lettera, o sia di questo libro;
27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;	27 E in memoria di quel, che patirono, e della mutazione, che sopravvenne, i Giudei obbligaron se stessi, e i lor discendenti, e tutti quelli, che volessero unirsi nella lor religione, onde a nissuno sia lecito di passare questi due giorni senza solennità, come da questo scritto apparisce, e ne fissarono il tempo in perpetuo per gli anni susseguenti.
28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.	28 Questi son giorni, che non saranno giammai posti in dimenticanza, e da tutte le generazioni, e in tutte le provincie saranno celebrati: e alcuna città non è, dove non siano solennizzati da' Giudei, e dalla loro stirpe obbligata a queste ceremonie.
29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.	29 Ed Esther regina figliuola di Abihail, e Mardocheo Giudeo scrissero anche una seconda lettera, affinchè con ogni premura si stabilisse la solennità di quel giorno pe' tempi avvenire:
30 And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,	30 E la mandarono a tutti i Giudei, che dimoravano nelle cento ventisette provincie del re Assuero, affinchè vivessero in pace, e tenesser la verità,
31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.	31 Osservando i giorni delle sorti, e celebrandoli nel suo tempo con gaudio: e quelli, conforme era stato prescritto da Esther, e da Mardocheo, e per se, e pei loro posteri abbracciarono l'osservanza de digiuni, de' clamori, e dei giorni delle sorti,
32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.	32 E di tutto quello, che si contiene nella storia di questo libro, che porta il nome di Esther.
