1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:	1 Manasse aveva dodici anni quando divenne re e regnò cinquantacinque anni a Gerusalemme.
2 But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.	2 Fece il male agli occhi di Jahvè secondo gli abomini delle genti che Jahvè aveva cacciato dal cospetto dei figli di Israele.
3 For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.	3 Ricostruì le alture che suo padre Ezechia aveva distrutto; eresse altari a Baal, si fece pali sacri, adorò tutto l’esercito del cielo e lo servì.
4 Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.	4 Eresse anche altari nel tempio di Jahvè, di cui Jahvè aveva detto: «A Gerusalemme il mio nome abiterà per sempre!»
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.	5 Così edificò altari a tutto l’esercito del cielo nei due cortili del tempio di Jahvè.
6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.	6 Egli fece passare i suoi figli attraverso il fuoco, nella valle di Ben-Hinnom; si diede alla magia e alla divinazione procurandosi pitonesse e indovini. Egli moltiplicò il male agli occhi di Jahvè così da provocarlo a sdegno.
7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:	7 Pose perfino l’immagine scolpita dell’idolo, che si era fatto, nel tempio di Dio, di cui Dio aveva detto a David e a Salomone suo figlio: «In questo tempio e a Gerusalemme che ho scelto fra tutte le città di Giuda porrò il mio nome per sempre;
8 Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.	8 non permetterò più che il piede di Israele erri lontano dal suolo che ho destinato i loro padri, purché si impegnino a eseguire quanto io ho ordinato loro nell'intera legge e, precisamente, negli statuti e nelle disposizioni date per mezzo di Mosè».
9 So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.	9 Manasse invece istigò Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme ad agire peggio delle genti che Jahvè aveva sterminato dal cospetto dei figli di Israele.
10 And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.	10 Jahvè ammonì Manasse e il suo popolo; costoro però non vollero ascoltare.
11 Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.	11 Allora Jahvè fece venire contro di loro i capi dell’esercito del re di Assiria, che presero Manasse con uncini, lo legarono con catene di bronzo e lo condussero a Babilonia.
12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,	12 Trovandosi in angustia, cercò di placare la faccia di Jahvè suo Dio e si umiliò profondamente di fronte al Dio dei suoi padri.
13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.	13 Lo supplicò ed egli si lasciò impietosire; ne ascoltò la supplica e lo restituì a Gerusalemme nel regno. Così Manasse riconobbe che Jahvè è Dio!
14 Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.	14 In seguito egli costruì il muro esterno alla città di David, a occidente del Ghikhon, nella valle, raggiungendo l’ingresso della porta dei Pesci; esso circondava l'Ofel ed egli lo fece molto alto. Quindi pose capi dell’esercito in tutte le roccheforti di Giuda.
15 And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.	15 Eliminò dal tempio di Jahvè gli dèi stranieri, l'idolo e così pure tutti gli altari che aveva eretto sul monte del tempio di Jahvè e a Gerusalemme; li buttò fuori della città.
16 And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.	16 Poi ristabilì l’altare di Jahvè, immolando sopra sacrifici pacifici e di lode; infine ordinò a Giuda di servire Jahvè, Dio di Israele.
17 Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.	17 Il popolo tuttavia continuò a sacrificare sulle alture, benché in onore di Jahvè suo Dio.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.	18 Il resto degli atti di Manasse, la sua preghiera a Dio e le parole dei veggenti che gli parlarono nel nome del Dio di Israele, sono cose scritte negli Atti dei Re di Israele.
19 His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.	19 La sua preghiera e come fu esaudito, tutti i suoi peccati e le sue infedeltà, i luoghi su cui eresse alture e stabilì pali sacri e idoli, prima che si umiliasse, sono cose scritte negli Atti dei veggenti.
20 So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.	20 Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nel giardino della sua casa. Amon suo figlio regnò al suo posto.
21 Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.	21 Quando divenne re, Amon aveva ventidue anni e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme.
22 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;	22 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi di Jahvè, come aveva fatto Manasse suo padre. Amon offrì sacrifici a tutti gli idoli che Manasse suo padre aveva fatto eseguire e li servì.
23 And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.	23 Però non si umiliò innanzi a Jahvè come aveva fatto Manasse suo padre; egli anzi aumentò le colpe.
24 And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.	24 I servitori di Amon congiurarono contro di lui e lo uccisero nella sua casa.
25 But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.	25 Il popolo della terra allora mise a morte tutti coloro che avevano congiurato contro il re Amon; quindi fecero regnare al suo posto Giosia suo figlio.
