1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 Dopo queste cose David percosse i Filistei, li umiliò e tolse Get e le città da lei dipendenti di mano ai Filistei.
2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.	2 Percosse anche Moab, e i Moabiti divennero servi di David e suoi tributari.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.	3 In quel tempo David percosse anche Adarezer re di Soba nel pae­se di Emat, allorché egli si avanzò per dilatare il suo dominio fino al fiume Eufrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.	4 David gli prese mille quadrighe, sette mila cavalieri, venti mila pedoni, e tagliò i garetti a tutti i cavalli dei carri, eccettuate cento quadrighe che si riservò.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.	5 Or quando il Siro di Damasco gli venne addosso per soccorrere Adarezer re di Soba, David gli uccise ventidue mila uomini.
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	6 Poi mise dei soldati in Damasco, per tener soggetta e tributaria la Siria. Il Signore lo aiutò in tutte le imprese in cui s'era messo.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 David prese le faretre d'oro che avevano i servi di Adarezer, le portò a Gerusalemme,
8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.	8 come pure da Tebat, da Cun, città d'Adarezer, grande quantità di rame, col quale poi Salomone fece il mare di rame, le colonne e i vasi di rame.
9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;	9 Or quando Tou re di Emat intese che David aveva disfatto tutto l'esercito di Adarezer re di Soba,
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.	10 mandò il suo figlio Adoram al re David per chiedergli pace e per congratularsi con lui d'aver abbattuto e sconfitto Adarezer. Tou era nemico d'Adarezer.
11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.	11 Or tutti i vasi d'oro, d'argento e di rame il re David li consacrò al Signore, coll'argento e l'oro che egli aveva preso a tutte le genti: all'Idumea, a Moab, ai figli d'Ammon, ai Filistei, ad Amalec.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.	12 Inoltre Abisai figlio di Sarvia percosse diciotto mila Idumei nella Valle delle Saline,
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	13 e pose un pre­sidio nell'Idumea, affinchè l'Idumea stesse soggetta a David. Il Signore salvò David in tutte le sue imprese.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.	14 David regnò sopra tutto Israele, rendendo ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
15 And Joab the son Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.	15 Gioab figlio di Sarvia era capo dell'esercito; Giosafat figlio di Ahilud era lo storico;
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;	16 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Ahimelec figlio di Abiatar eran sacerdoti; Susa era segretario;
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.	17 Banaia figlio di Ioiada comandava le legioni dei Ceretei e dei Feletei; e i figli di David erano i primi ministri del re.
