1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 Dopo ciò Davide sconfisse i Filistei, li sottomise e prese loro Gat con le sue dipendenze.
2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.	2 Quindi sconfisse Moab e i Moabiti divennero vassalli di Davide e suoi tributari.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.	3 Davide inoltre sconfisse Adad-E'zer, re di Zoba, verso Camat, mentre si recava a stabilire il suo dominio sul fiume Eufrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli prese mille carri, settemila cavalieri e ventimila fanti; Davide tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli risparmiandone un centinaio.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.	5 Gli Aramei di Damasco vennero in aiuto di Adad-E'zer, re di Zoba, ma Davide uccise ventiduemila di questi Aramei.
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	6 Davide stabilì governatori nell'Aram di Damasco e gli Aramei divennero vassalli e tributari di Davide. Il Signore concesse la vittoria a Davide in ogni sua impresa.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Egli prese anche gli scudi d'oro portati dagli ufficiali di Adad-E'zer e li trasportò a Gerusalemme.
8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.	8 Da Tibcat e da Cun, città di Adad-E'zer, Davide asportò una grande quantità di bronzo, con cui Salomone costruì il mare di bronzo, le colonne e le suppellettili di bronzo.
9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;	9 Quando Tou, re di Camat, ebbe udito che Davide aveva sconfitto tutto l'esercito di Adad-E'zer, re di Zoba,
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.	10 inviò il figlio suo Adoram al re Davide per salutarlo e per felicitarlo di aver combattuto e vinto Adad-E'zer; infatti Tou era sempre in guerra con Adad-E'zer. Adoram portava con sé oggetti d'oro, d'argento e di bronzo.
11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.	11 Anche questi oggetti il re Davide consacrò al Signore insieme con l'argento e l'oro che aveva preso da tutti i popoli, cioè da Edom, da Moab, dagli Ammoniti, dai Filistei e dagli Amaleciti.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.	12 Abisai, figlio di Zeruià, sconfisse nella Valle del Sale diciottomila Edomiti.
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	13 Davide pose guarnigioni in Edom; tutti gli Edomiti divennero suoi vassalli. Il Signore rendeva Davide vittorioso in ogni sua impresa.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.	14 Davide regnò su tutto Israele e rese giustizia con le sue sentenze a tutto il popolo.
15 And Joab the son Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.	15 Ioab, figlio di Zeruià, era comandante dell'esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Achilud, era archivista.
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;	16 Zadòk, figlio di Achitùb e Abimèlech, figlio di Ebiatàr erano sacerdoti, mentre Savsa era scriba.
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.	17 Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, comandava i Cretei e i Peletei; i figli di Davide poi erano i primi a fianco del re.
