1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 - Dopo ciò Davide battè i Filistei, li umiliò e tolse dalle mani dei Filistei Get e i villaggi circostanti.
2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.	2 Battè ancora i Moabiti, e i Moabiti divennero soggetti a Davide e suoi tributari.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.	3 In quel tempo Davide battè anche Adarezer, re di Soba, della regione di Emat, in occasione della spedizione fatta per dilatare il suo dominio fino al fiume Eufrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli prese mille quadrighe, settemila cavalieri e ventimila pedoni; e tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro, ad eccezione di cento quadrighe che aveva riservato per sè.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.	5 Sopravvenuti per porgere aiuto ad Adarezer, re di Soba, i Siri di Damasco, Davide battè anche ventiduemila uomini di essi;
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	6 e pose delle guarnigioni in Damasco, affinchè la Siria gli fosse soggetta e pagasse tributi. Il Signore lo aiutò in tutte le imprese a cui pose mano.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese poi delle faretre d'oro, tolte ai servi di Adarezer, e le portò a Gerusalemme.
8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.	8 Parimenti da Tebat e Cun, città di Adarezer, prelevò una grande quantità di rame, che Salomone adoperò per fondere il mare di rame e le colonne e i vasi di rame.
9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;	9 Avendo Tou, re di Emat, inteso ciò, che cioè Davide aveva battuto l'esercito di Adarezer, re di Soba,
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.	10 mandò il figliuolo suo Adoram al re Davide per chiedergli la pace e congratularsi con lui d'aver battuto e vinto Adarezer, poichè Tou era avversario di Adarezer.
11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.	11 Davide consacrò al Signore tutti i vasi d'oro, d'argento, di rame, e tutto l'oro e l'argento che aveva tolto a tutte le nazioni, tanto dell'Idumea, di Moab e dei figli di Ammon, quanto dei Filistei e degli Amaleciti.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.	12 Abisai figlio di Sarvia battè diciottomila Idumei nella valle delle Saline,
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	13 e mise una guarnigione in Edom, affinchè l'Idumea fosse soggetta a Davide. Il Signore salvò Davide ovunque si portò.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.	14 Regnò adunque Davide sopra tutto Israele e amministrava il diritto e la giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
15 And Joab the son Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.	15 Joab figlio di Sarvia comandava l'esercito, Josafat figlio di Ailud era lo storico,
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;	16 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Achimelec figlio di Abiatar erano sacerdoti e Susa segretario;
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.	17 Banaia figlio di Joiada comandava ai Ceretei e ai Feletei, mentre i figli di Davide erano i suoi primi ministri.
