1 Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 Hernach schlug David die Philister. Er unterwarf sie und nahm ihnen Gat und seine Tochterstädte weg.
2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.	2 Auch die Moabiter schlug er; sie wurden David untertan und tributpflichtig.
3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.	3 David schlug auch Hadad- Eser, den König von Zoba, das in Richtung Hamat liegt, als dieser ausgezogen war, um seine Macht am Eufrat zu festigen.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.	4 David erbeutete von ihm tausend Wagen und nahm siebentausend Wagenkämpfer und zwanzigtausend Fußsoldaten gefangen; er ließ alle Wagenpferde lähmen und behielt nur hundert von ihnen für sich zurück.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.	5 Als die Aramäer von Damaskus Hadad-Eser, dem König von Zoba, zu Hilfe kamen, erschlug David zweiundzwanzigtausend von ihnen
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	6 und besetzte das Aramäerreich von Damaskus. So wurden die Aramäer David untertan und tributpflichtig. Der Herr half David bei allem, was er unternahm.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 David erbeutete die goldenen Schilde, die die Krieger Hadad-Esers trugen, und brachte sie nach Jerusalem.
8 Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.	8 In Tibhat und Kun, den Städten Hadad-Esers, erbeutete David eine sehr große Menge Bronze, aus der Salomo später das «Eherne Meer», die Säulen und die bronzenen Geräte anfertigen ließ.
9 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;	9 Als Toï, der König von Hamat, hörte, dass David das ganze Heer Hadad-Esers, des Königs von Zoba, geschlagen hatte,
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.	10 schickte er seinen Sohn Hadoram mit Gefäßen aus Gold, Silber und Bronze zu König David. Er ließ ihm den Friedensgruß entbieten und ihn dazu beglückwünschen, dass er Hadad-Eser im Krieg geschlagen hatte. Toë lebte nämlich im Krieg mit Hadad- Eser.
11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.	11 König David weihte auch diese Gefäße dem Herrn, zusammen mit dem Silber und Gold, das er von allen Völkern, von Edom und Moab, von den Ammonitern, Philistern und Amalekitern erbeutet hatte.
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.	12 Abischai, der Sohn der Zeruja, schlug von Edom im Salztal achtzehntausend Mann
13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.	13 und David setzte in Edom Vögte ein. So wurde ganz Edom von David unterworfen. Der Herr half David bei allem, was er unternahm.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.	14 David war König von ganz Israel und sorgte für Recht und Gerechtigkeit in seinem ganzen Volk.
15 And Joab the son Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.	15 Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, war Heerführer. Joschafat, der Sohn Ahiluds, war Sprecher des Königs.
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;	16 Zadok, der Sohn Ahitubs, und Abjatar, der Sohn Ahimelechs, waren Priester. Schawscha war Staatsschreiber.
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.	17 Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, war Befehlshaber der Kereter und Peleter. Die Söhne Davids waren die Ersten an der Seite des Königs.
