Genesis 15

1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.	1 Ezen események után az Úr látomásban beszédet intézett Ábrámhoz, és azt mondta neki: »Ne félj, Ábrám, én az oltalmazód vagyok, és igen nagy lesz a jutalmad!«
2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?	2 Ábrám ekkor megkérdezte: »Uram, Isten, mit adhatnál nekem? Gyermektelenül költözöm én el, s házam gondviselőjének fia, a damaszkuszi Eliézer örökli a házamat!«
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.	3 Aztán így folytatta Ábrám: »Nem adtál nekem gyermeket, és íme, a házamban született rabszolga lesz az örökösöm!«
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.	4 De az Úr azt válaszolta neki: »Nem az lesz az örökösöd, hanem aki a te ágyékodból származik, az lesz a te örökösöd!«
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.	5 Majd kivezette a szabadba, és azt mondta neki: »Nézz fel az égre, és számláld meg a csillagokat, ha tudod!« Aztán így folytatta: »Éppen ilyen lesz az utódod is.«
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.	6 Hitt az Úrnak, s ez igazságul tudatott be neki.
7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.	7 Ekkor azt mondta neki az Úr: »Én vagyok az Úr, aki kihoztalak a káldeai Úrból, hogy neked adjam ezt a földet birtokul.«
8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?	8 Ám ő azt válaszolta: »Uram, Isten, miből tudhatnám meg, hogy a birtokom lesz?«
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.	9 Az Úr erre azt felelte neki: »Hozz nekem egy háromesztendős üszőt, egy háromesztendős kecskét, egy háromesztendős kost, továbbá egy gerlét és egy galambot!«
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.	10 Ekkor ő elhozta mindezeket, középen kettévágta őket, és lerakta a két darabot egymással szembe; a madarakat azonban nem vágta ketté.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.	11 A húsokra ragadozó madarak szálltak, de Ábrám elűzte őket.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.	12 Amikor aztán a nap leszállóban volt, mély álom fogta el Ábrámot, és nagy rettegés és sötétség szállt rá.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;	13 Az Úr azt mondta Ábrámnak: »Tudd meg előre, hogy utódod idegenként olyan földön lesz, amely nem az övé. Szolgaságba vetik és sanyargatják őket négyszáz esztendeig.
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.	14 De a népet, amelynek szolgálni fognak, megítélem majd, s aztán kijönnek onnan nagy vagyonnal.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.	15 Te azonban békességben térsz meg atyáidhoz, és szép öregségben fognak eltemetni.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.	16 Utódaid a negyedik nemzedék idején térnek vissza ide, mert mindmáig nem telt még be az amoriták gonoszsága.«
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.	17 Amikor a nap lenyugodott, sűrű sötétség lett. És íme, megjelent egy füstölgő kemence és egy tüzes fáklya, s átvonult a húsdarabok között.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:	18 Ezen a napon kötött az Úr szövetséget Ábrámmal, ezekkel a szavakkal: »Utódodnak adom ezt a földet, Egyiptom folyójától egészen a nagy folyóig, az Eufráteszig,
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,	19 a kenitákat, a kenizitákat, a kedmonitákat,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,	20 a hetitákat és a perizitákat, valamint a ráfaitákat, az amoritákat, a kanániakat, a girgasitákat és a jebuzitákat!«
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
