Genesis 15

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.	1 Après ces événements, la parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Abram, dans une vision: "Ne crains pas,Abram! Je suis ton bouclier, ta récompense sera très grande."
2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?	2 Abram répondit: "Mon Seigneur Yahvé, que me donnerais-tu? Je m'en vais sans enfant..."
3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.	3 Abram dit: "Voici que tu ne m'as pas donné de descendance et qu'un des gens de ma maisonhéritera de moi."
4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.	4 Alors cette parole de Yahvé lui fut adressée: "Celui-là ne sera pas ton héritier, mais bien quelqu'unissu de ton sang."
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.	5 Il le conduisit dehors et dit: "Lève les yeux au ciel et dénombre les étoiles si tu peux lesdénombrer" et il lui dit: "Telle sera ta postérité."
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.	6 Abram crut en Yahvé, qui le lui compta comme justice.
7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.	7 Il lui dit: "Je suis Yahvé qui t'ai fait sortir d'Ur des Chaldéens, pour te donner ce pays enpossession."
8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?	8 Abram répondit: "Mon Seigneur Yahvé, à quoi saurai-je que je le posséderai?"
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.	9 Il lui dit: "Va me chercher une génisse de trois ans, une chèvre de trois ans, un bélier de trois ans,une tourterelle et un pigeonneau."
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.	10 Il lui amena tous ces animaux, les partagea par le milieu et plaça chaque moitié vis-à-vis del'autre; cependant il ne partagea pas les oiseaux.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.	11 Les rapaces s'abattirent sur les cadavres, mais Abram les chassa.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.	12 Comme le soleil allait se coucher, une torpeur tomba sur Abram et voici qu'un grand effroi lesaisit.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;	13 Yahvé dit à Abram: "Sache bien que tes descendants seront des étrangers dans un pays qui ne serapas le leur. Ils y seront esclaves, on les opprimera pendant 400 ans.
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.	14 Mais je jugerai aussi la nation à laquelle ils auront été asservis et ils sortiront ensuite avec degrands biens.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.	15 Pour toi, tu t'en iras en paix avec tes pères, tu seras enseveli dans une vieillesse heureuse.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.	16 C'est à la quatrième génération qu'ils reviendront ici, car jusque-là l'iniquité des Amorites n'aurapas atteint son comble."
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.	17 Quand le soleil fut couché et que les ténèbres s'étendirent, voici qu'un four fumant et un brandonde feu passèrent entre les animaux partagés.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:	18 Ce jour-là Yahvé conclut une alliance avec Abram en ces termes: "A ta postérité je donne ce pays,du Fleuve d'Egypte jusqu'au Grand Fleuve, le fleuve d'Euphrate,
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,	19 les Qénites, les Qenizzites, les Qadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,	20 les Hittites, les Perizzites, les Rephaïm, les Amorites, les Cananéens, les Girgashites et lesJébuséens."
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
