Jeremiah 15

1 And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people: cast them out from my sight, and let them go forth.	1 Me dijo el Señor: «Aunque Moisés y Samuel se presentasen ante mí, no me pondría a favor de este pueblo. ¡Échalos de mi presencia, que se vayan!
2 And if they shall say unto thee: Whither shall we go forth? thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: Such as are for death, to death: and such as are to the sword, to the sword: and such as are for famine, to famine: and such as are to captivity, to captivity.	2 Y si te preguntan adónde han de ir, les dices: Esto dice el Señor: El destinado a la muerte, a la muerte; | el destinado a la espada, a la espada; | el destinado al hambre, al hambre; | el destinado al destierro, al destierro.
3 And I will visit them with four kinds, saith the Lord: The sword to kill, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.	3 Los pondré en manos de cuatro destructores —oráculo del Señor—: la espada para degollar, los perros para despedazar, las aves y las bestias para devorar y destrozar.
4 And I will give them up to the rage of all the kingdoms of the earth: because of Manasses the son of Ezechias the king of Juda, for all that he did in Jerusalem.	4 Haré que sirvan de escarmiento para todos los reinos de la tierra, por culpa de Manasés, hijo de Ezequías, rey de Judá, por todo lo que hizo en Jerusalén».
5 For who shall have pity on thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go to pray for thy peace?	5 ¿Quién se apiadará de ti, Jerusalén? | ¿Quién te va a compadecer? | ¿Quién se desviará de su camino | interesado por tu bienestar?
6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will destroy thee: I am weary of entreating thee.	6 Eres tú quien me has abandonado | —oráculo del Señor—, | quien se ha vuelto de espaldas y se ha ido. | Y alargué mi mano para aniquilarte, | harto ya de compadecerte.
7 And I will scatter them with a fan in the gates of the land: I have killed and destroyed my people, and yet they are not returned form their ways.	7 Los he aventado con la horquilla | por todas las ciudades del país; | he dejado a mi pueblo sin hijos, | lo he destruido del todo, | pero no han cambiado su conducta.
8 Their widows are multiplied unto me above the sand of the sea: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young man a spoiler at noonday: I have cast a terror on a sudden upon the cities.	8 Sus viudas son numerosas, | más que las arenas del mar; | envié contra las madres de los jóvenes | devastadores a plena luz del día; | precipité sobre ellos de repente | sobresalto y confusión.
9 She that hath borne seven is become weak, her soul hath fainted away: her sun is gone down, while it was yet day: she is confounded, and ashamed: and the residue of them I will give up to the sword in the sight of their enemies, saith the Lord.	9 La madre de siete hijos | desfallece y pierde el aliento; | su sol se pone en pleno día, | se siente confusa y desconcertada. | El resto lo entregaré a la espada | de sus enemigos —oráculo del Señor—.
10 Woe is me, my mother: why hast thou borne me a man of strife, a man of contention to all the earth? I have not lent on usury, neither hath any man lent to me on usury: yet all curse me.	10 ¡Ay de mí, madre mía, me has engendrado | para discutir y pleitear por todo el país! | Ni presté ni me han prestado, | en cambio, todos me maldicen.
11 The Lord saith to me: Assuredly it shall be well with thy remnant, assuredly I shall help thee in the time of affliction, and in the time of tribulation against the enemy.	11 Dijo el Señor: | —¿No te he fortalecido para bien? | ¿No he intervenido en tu favor, | en tiempo de apuro e infortunio, | a causa de tus enemigos?
12 Shall iron be allied with the iron from the north, and the brass?	12 ¿Puede romperse el hierro, | el hierro del norte y el bronce?
13 Thy riches and thy treasures I will give unto spoil for nothing, because of all thy sins, even in all thy borders.	13 Todos tus haberes y tesoros | voy a entregar al pillaje | por todo tu territorio, | a causa de tus pecados.
14 And I will bring thy enemies out of a land, which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in my rage, it shall burn upon you.	14 Te haré esclavo de tus enemigos | en un país desconocido, | pues arde mi ira como fuego | y va a estallar contra vosotros.
15 O Lord, thou knowest, remember me, and visit me, and defend me from them that persecute me, do not defend me in thy patience: know that for thy sake I have sufferred reproach.	15 —Tú ya lo sabes, Señor: | acuérdate de mí, protégeme; | véngame de mis perseguidores. | No por dar largas a tu ira | vayan a acabar conmigo, | pues soporto ultrajes por tu causa.
16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them, and thy word was to me a joy and gladness of my heart: for thy name is called upon me, O Lord God of hosts.	16 Si encontraba tus palabras, las devoraba: | tus palabras me servían de gozo, | eran la alegría de mi corazón, | y tu nombre era invocado sobre mí, | Señor Dios del universo.
17 I sat not in the assembly of jesters, nor did I make a boast of the presence of thy hand: I sat alone, because thou hast filled me with threats.	17 No me junté con la gente | amiga de la juerga y el disfrute; | me forzaste a vivir en soledad, | pues me habías llenado de tu ira.
18 Why is my sorrow become perpetual, and my wound desperate so as to refuse to be healed? it is become to me as the falsehood of deceitful waters that cannot be trusted.	18 ¿Por qué se ha hecho crónica mi llaga, | enconada e incurable mi herida? | Te has vuelto para mí arroyo engañoso | de aguas inconstantes.
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord: If thou wilt be converted, I will convert thee, and thou shalt stand before my face; and if thou wilt separate the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: they shall be turned to thee, and thou shalt not be turned to them.	19 Entonces respondió el Señor: | —Si vuelves, te dejaré volver, | y así estarás a mi servicio; | si separas la escoria del metal, | yo hablaré por tu boca. | Ellos volverán a ti, | pero tú no vuelvas a ellos.
20 And I will make thee to this people as a strong wall of brass: and they shall fight against thee, and shall not prevail: for I am with thee to save thee, and to deliver thee, saith the Lord.	20 Haré de ti frente al pueblo | muralla de bronce inexpugnable: | lucharán contra ti, | pero no te podrán, | porque yo estoy contigo | para librarte y salvarte | —oráculo del Señor—.
21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the mighty.	21 Te libraré de manos de los malvados, | te rescataré del puño de los violentos.
