1 At the first time the land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephtali was lightly touched: and at the last the way of the sea beyond the Jordan of the Galilee of the Gentiles was heavily loaded.	1 Au temps passé (Dans le premier temps) le pays de Zabulon et le pays de Nephthali ont été humiliés (a été allégés), et au temps à venir, la route de la mer, au-delà du Jourdain, la (voie de la) Galilée des nations, seront couvertes de gloire (a été aggravée).
2 The people that walked in darkness, have seen a great light: to them that dwelt in the region of the shadow of death, light is risen.	2 Le peuple qui marchait dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière ; sur (pour) ceux qui habitaient dans la région de l'ombre de la mort, une lumière s'est levée.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and hast not increased the joy. They shall rejoice before thee, as they that rejoice in the harvest, as conquerors rejoice after taking a prey, when they divide the spoils.	3 Vous avez multiplié le peuple dont (et) vous n'av(i)ez pas augmenté la (sa) joie. Ils se réjouiront devant vous, comme on se réjouit à la moisson, et comme les vainqueurs tressaillent d'allégresse lorsqu'ils ont pillé l'ennemi, et qu'ils partagent le butin (les dépouilles).
4 For the yoke of their burden, and the rod of their shoulder, and the sceptre of their oppressor thou best overcome, as in the day of Median.	4 Car le joug qui pesait sur lui, la verge qui déchirait son dos (épaule), et le sceptre de celui qui l'opprimait, vous les avez brisés, comme à la journée de Madian.
5 For every violent taking of spoils, with tumult, and garment mingled with blood, shall be burnt, and be fuel for the fire.	5 Car toutes les dépouilles (tout pillage) remporté(es) (avec violence et) dans le tumulte, et les vêtements souillés de sang seront mis au feu, et deviendront la pâture de la flamme.
6 For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.	6 Car un petit enfant nous est né, et un fils nous a été donné ; il portera sur son épaule la marque de sa principauté ; et il sera appelé Admirable, Conseiller, Dieu, Fort, Père du siècle futur, Prince de la paix.
7 His empire shall be multiplied, and there shall be no end of peace: he shall sit upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom; to establish it and strengthen it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth and for ever: the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.	7 Son empire s'étendra de plus en plus, et la paix n'aura pas de fin ; il s'assiéra sur le trône de David, et il possédera (s'assiéra sur) son royaume pour l'affermir et le fortifier par (dans) le droit (jugement) et par (dans) la justice, dès maintenant et à jamais ; le zèle du Seigneur des armées fera ces choses.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.	8 Le Seigneur a envoyé une parole à Jacob, et elle est tombée sur (dans) Israël.
9 And all the people of Ephraim shall know, and the inhabitants of Samaria that say in the pride and haughtiness of their heart:	9 Tout le peuple le saura, (de même) Ephraïm et les habitants de Samarie, qui disent dans l'orgueil et dans l'arrogance (enflure) de leur cœur :
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with square stones: they have cut down the sycamores, but we will change them for cedars.	10 Les briques sont tombées, mais nous bâtirons en pierres de taille ; ils ont coupé les (nos) sycomores, mais nous mettrons des cèdres à leur place.
11 And the Lord shall set up the enemies of Rasin over him, and shall bring on his enemies in a crowd:	11 Le Seigneur suscitera contre Israël (sur lui, note) les ennemis de Rasin, et il fera venir en foule ses ennemis,
12 The Syrians from the east, and the Philistines from the west: and they shall devour Israel with open mouth, For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.	12 les Syriens à l'orient, et les Philistins à l'occident, et ils dévoreront Israël à pleine bouche. Malgré tout cela, sa fureur n'est pas apaisée, et sa main est encore étendue.
13 And the people are not returned to him who hath struck them, and have not sought after the Lord of hosts.	13 Le peuple n'est pas revenu vers celui qui le frappait, et ils n'ont pas recherché le Seigneur des armées.
14 And the Lord shall destroy out of Israel the head and the tail, him that bendeth down, and him that holdeth back, in one day.	14 Aussi le Seigneur retranchera en un seul jour la tête et la queue, celui qui s'abaisse et celui qui s'élève (plie et celui qui réfrène, note).
15 The aged and honourable, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.	15 Le vieillard et le personnage vénérable sont la tête, et le prophète qui enseigne le mensonge est la queue.
16 And they that call this people blessed, shall cause them to err: and they that are called blessed, shall be thrown down headlong.	16 Ceux qui appellent ce peuple heureux se trouveront être des séducteurs, et ceux qu'on proclame (bien)heureux se trouveront précipités (dans la ruine).
17 Therefore the Lord shell have no joy in their young men: neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless, and widows: for every one is a hypocrite and wicked, and every mouth hath spoken folly. For all this his indignation is not turned away, but his bend is stretched out still.	17 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur ne mettra pas sa joie dans les jeunes gens d'Israël, il n'aura pas pitié des orphelins et des veuves, car ils sont tous des hypocrites et des méchants, et toutes les bouches profèrent la folie. Malgré tout cela sa fureur n'est pas apaisée, et sa main est encore étendue.
18 For wickedness is kindled as a fire, it shall devour the brier and the thorn: and shall kindle in the thicket of the forest, and it shall be wrapped up in smoke ascending on high.	18 Car l'impiété s'est allumée comme un feu : elle dévorera les ronces et les épines ; elle s'embrasera dans l'épaisseur de la (d'une, note) forêt ; et des tourbillons de fumée s'élèveront en haut.
19 By the wrath of the Lord of hosts the land is troubled, and the people shall be as fuel for the fire: no man shall spare his brother.	19 Par la colère du Seigneur des armées le pays a été épouvanté (bouleversé), et le peuple sera comme la pâture du feu ; le frère n'épargnera pas son frère.
20 And he shall turn to the right hand, and shall be hungry: and shall eat on the left hand, and shall not be filled: every one shell eat the flesh of his own arm: Manasses Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasses, and they together shall be against Juda.	20 On ira à droite, et on aura faim ; on dévorera (en allant) à gauche, et on ne sera pas rassasié ; chacun dévorera la chair de son bras : Manassé dévorera Ephraïm, et Ephraïm, Manassé ; et ensemble ils se soulèveront contre Juda.
21 After all these things his indignation is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.	21 Malgré tout cela sa fureur n'est pas apaisée, et sa main est encore étendue.
