Proverbs 9

1 Wisdom hath built herself a house, she hath hewn her out seven pillars.	1 Die Weisheit hat ihr Haus gebaut, hat ihre sieben Säulen aufgestellt,
2 She hath slain her victims, mingled her wine, and set forth her table.	2 ihr Vieh geschlachtet, ihren Wein gemischt, auch hat sie ihre Tafel schon gedeckt.
3 She hath sent her maids to invite to the tower, and to the walls of the city:	3 Sie sandte ihre Mägde aus und ruft am Vorsprung bei der hohen Burg der Stadt:
4 Whosoever is a little one, let him come to me. And to the unwise she said:	4 "Wer ungelehrt ist, biege hierher ein, und wem die Einsicht fehlt, dem will ich künden:
5 Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine which I have mingled for you.	5 Kommt her, genießt von meinem Brot, und trinkt vom Wein, den ich gemischt!
6 Forsake childishness, and live, and walk by the ways of prudence.	6 Gebt Torheit auf, damit ihr lebt, und schreitet auf der Einsicht Pfad!"
7 He that teacheth a scorner, doth an injury to himself: and he that rebuketh a wicked man, getteth himself a blot.	7 Wer den Frevler zurechtweist, erwirbt sich Schande, wer den Gottlosen tadelt, eigene Schmach.
8 Rebuke not a scorner lest he hate thee. Rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.	8 Tadle nicht den Frevler, damit er dich nicht hasse; tadle den Weisen, so wird er dich lieben!
9 Give an occasion to a wise man, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach a just man, and he shall make haste to receive it.	9 Unterrichte den Weisen, so wird er noch weiser; belehre den Gerechten, so wächst er an Bildung!
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence.	10 Der Anfang der Weisheit ist Furcht des Herrn, und Erkenntnis des Allheiligen Einsicht.
11 For by me shall thy days be multiplied, and years of life shall be added to thee.	11 Denn durch sie werden viel deine Tage und zahlreich die Jahre des Lebens.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be so to thyself: and if a scorner, thou alone shalt bear the evil.	12 Bist du weise, so ist das dein eigener Nutzen; bist du zuchtlos, so hast du allein es zu tragen.
13 A foolish woman and clamorous, and full of allurements, and knowing nothing at all,	13 Die Torheit fiebert nach Verführung und kümmert sich um keine Scham.
14 Sat at the door of her house, upon a seat, in a high place of the city,	14 Sie sitzt am Eingang ihres Hauses auf einem Throne bei der hohen Burg der Stadt,
15 To call them that pass by the way, and go on their journey:	15 um anzurufen, die des Weges ziehen, gerader Richtung ihre Pfade schreiten:
16 He that is a little one, let him turn to me. And to the fool she said:	16 "Wer ungelehrt ist, biege hierher ein, und wem die Einsicht fehlt, dem will ich künden:
17 Stolen waters are sweeter, and hid den bread is more pleasant.	17 Wasser, das gestohlen ist, schmeckt süß, und heimlich angeeignet Brot schmeckt gut!"
18 And he did not know that giants are there, and that her guests are in the depths of hell. The Parables of Solomon	18 Und nicht bedenkt man, daß dort Totengeister sind und ihre Gäste in der tiefen Unterwelt.
