| 1 For the sons of Core, a psalm of a canticle. The foundations thereof are in the holy mountains: | 1 A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. A Song. On the holy mount stands the city he founded; |
| 2 The Lord loveth the gates of Sion above all the tabernacles of Jacob. | 2 the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. |
| 3 Glorious things are said of thee, O city of God. | 3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God. [Selah] |
| 4 I will be mindful of Rahab and of Babylon knowing me. Behold the foreigners, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians, these were there. | 4 Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia-- "This one was born there," they say. |
| 5 Shall not Sion say: This man and that man is born in her? and the Highest himself hath founded her. | 5 And of Zion it shall be said, "This one and that one were born in her"; for the Most High himself will establish her. |
| 6 The Lord shall tell in his writings of peoples and of princes, of them that have been in her. | 6 The LORD records as he registers the peoples, "This one was born there." [Selah] |
| 7 The dwelling in thee is as it were of all rejoicing. | 7 Singers and dancers alike say, "All my springs are in you." |
