The inscription of a title to David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put trust in thee.1 A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in thee I take refuge.
I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods.2 I say to the LORD, "Thou art my Lord; I have no good apart from thee."
To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.3 As for the saints in the land, they are the noble, in whom is all my delight.
Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.4 Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their libations of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips.
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.5 The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; thou holdest my lot.
The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover my reins also have corrected me even till night.7 I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved.8 I keep the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure.
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt then give thy holy one to see corruption.10 For thou dost not give me up to Sheol, or let thy godly one see the Pit.
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.11 Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fulness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.
