Douai-Rheims Le Sainte Bible Vigouroux
Lord, thou hast proved me, and known me:1 Pour la fin, psaume de David.
thou hast know my sitting down, and my rising up.2 Délivrez-moi (Arrachez-moi) Seigneur, de l'homme méchant ; délivrez-moi (Arrachez-moi) de l'homme injuste (inique).
Thou hast understood my thoughts afar off: my path and my line thou hast searched out.3 Ils méditent l'iniquité dans leur coeur; * tous les jours ils entreprennent des combats.
And thou hast foreseen all my ways: for there is no speech in my tongue.4 Ils ont aiguisé leur langue comme celle du serpent; * le venin des aspics est sous leurs lèvres.
Behold, O Lord, thou hast known all things, the last and those of old: thou hast formed me, and hast laid thy hand upon me.5 Seigneur, préservez-moi de la main du (d'un) pécheur, et délivrez-moi (arrachez-moi) des hommes injustes, qui (ne) pensent (qu') à me renverser.
Thy knowledge is become wonderful to me: it is high, and I cannot reach to it.6 Les (Des) superbes m'ont dressé (devant moi) des pièges en secret, et ils ont tendu des filets pour me prendre (et ils ont tendu des cordes en lacs) ; près (le long) du chemin ils ont mis de quoi me faire tomber (une pierre d'achoppement devant moi).
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy face?7 J'ai dit au Seigneur : Vous êtes mon Dieu ; exaucez, Seigneur, la voix de ma supplication.
If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: if I descend into hell, thou art present.8 Seigneur, Seigneur, qui êtes la force de mon salut, vous avez mis ma tête à couvert (avez couvert ma tête de votre ombre) au jour du combat.
If I take my wings early in the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:9 Seigneur, ne me livrez pas au pécheur contre mon désir ; ils ont formé des desseins contre moi ; ne m'abandonnez pas, de peur qu'ils ne s'en glorifient (triomphent).
Even there also shall thy hand lead me: and thy right hand shall hold me.10 Sur la tête de ceux qui m'environnent retombera l'iniquité de leurs lèvres (La tête de leur circuit, le travail de leurs lèvres les couvrira eux-mêmes).
And I said: Perhaps darkness shall cover me: and night shall be my light in my pleasures.11 Des charbons (ardents) tomberont sur eux ; vous les précipiterez dans le feu ; ils ne pourront subsister dans leurs misères.
But darkness shall not be dark to thee, and night shall be light as day: the darkness thereof, and the light thereof are alike to thee.12 L'homme qui se laisse emporter par sa langue (Un homme à la langue méchante) ne prospérera point sur la terre ; les maux accableront l'homme injuste, de manière à le perdre (à la mort).
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast protected me from my mother's womb.13 Je sais que le Seigneur fera justice à l'indigent, et qu'il vengera les pauvres.
I will praise thee, for thou art fearfully magnified: wonderful are thy works, and my soul knoweth right well.14 Mais les justes célébreront (glorifieront) votre nom, et les hommes droits habiteront devant votre visage (vivront devant vous).
My bone is not hidden from thee, which thou hast made in secret: and my substance in the lower parts of the earth.
Thy eyes did see my imperfect being, and in thy book all shall be written: days shall be formed, and no one in them.
But to me thy friends, O God, are made exceedingly honourable: their principality is exceedingly strengthened.
I will number them, and they shall be multiplied above the sand: I rose up and am still with thee.
If thou wilt kill the wicked, O God: ye men of blood, depart from me:
Because you say in thought: They shall receive thy cities in vain.
Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hated thee: and pine away because of thy enemies?
I have hated them with a perfect hatred: and they are become enemies to me.
Prove me, O God, and know my heart: examine me, and know my paths.
And see if there be in me the way of iniquity: and lead me in the eternal way.
