Segunda Epístola a Timóteo 3

1 Nota bem o seguinte: nos últimos dias haverá um período difícil.	1 And know this: that in the last days perilous times will press near.
2 Os homens se tornarão egoístas, avarentos, fanfarrões, soberbos, rebeldes aos pais, ingratos, malvados,	2 Men will be lovers of themselves, greedy, self-exalting, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,
3 desalmados, desleais, caluniadores, devassos, cruéis, inimigos dos bons,	3 without affection, without peace, false accusers, unchaste, cruel, without kindness,
4 traidores, insolentes, cegos de orgulho, amigos dos prazeres e não de Deus,	4 traitorous, reckless, self-important, loving pleasure more than God,
5 ostentarão a aparência de piedade, mas desdenharão a realidade. Dessa gente, afasta-te!	5 even having the appearance of piety while rejecting its virtue. And so, avoid them.
6 Deles fazem parte os que se insinuam jeitosamente pelas casas e enfeitiçam mulherzinhas carregadas de pecados, atormentadas por toda espécie de paixões,	6 For among these are ones who penetrate houses and lead away, like captives, foolish women burdened with sins, who are led away by means of various desires,
7 sempre a aprender sem nunca chegar ao conhecimento da verdade.	7 always learning, yet never achieving knowledge of the truth.
8 Como Janes e Jambres resistiram a Moisés, assim também estes homens de coração pervertido, reprovados na fé, tentam resistir à verdade.	8 And in the same manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so also will these resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobates from the faith.
9 Mas não irão longe, porque será manifesta a todos a sua insensatez, como o foi a daqueles dois.	9 But they will not advance beyond a certain point. For the folly of the latter shall be made manifest to all, just as that of the former.
10 Tu, pelo contrário, te aplicaste a seguir-me de perto na minha doutrina, no meu modo de vida, nos meus planos, na minha fé, na minha paciência, na minha caridade, na minha constância,	10 But you have fully comprehended my doctrine, instruction, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
11 nas minhas perseguições, nas provações que me sobrevieram em Antioquia, em Icônio, em Listra. Que perseguições tive que sofrer! E de todas me livrou o Senhor.	11 persecutions, afflictions; such things as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; how I endured persecutions, and how the Lord rescued me from everything.
12 Pois todos os que quiserem viver piedosamente, em Jesus Cristo, terão de sofrer a perseguição.	12 And all those who willingly live the piety in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
13 Mas os homens perversos e impostores irão de mal a pior, sedutores e seduzidos.	13 But evil men and deceivers will advance in evil, erring and sending into error.
14 Tu, porém, permanece firme naquilo que aprendeste e creste. Sabes de quem aprendeste.	14 Yet truly, you should remain in those things which you have learned and which have been entrusted to you. For you know from whom you have learned them.
15 E desde a infância conheces as Sagradas Escrituras e sabes que elas têm o condão de te proporcionar a sabedoria que conduz à salvação, pela fé em Jesus Cristo.	15 And, from your infancy, you have known the Sacred Scriptures, which are able to instruct you toward salvation, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 Toda a Escritura é inspirada por Deus, e útil para ensinar, para repreender, para corrigir e para formar na justiça.	16 All Scripture, having been divinely inspired, is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in justice,
17 Por ela, o homem de Deus se torna perfeito, capacitado para toda boa obra.	17 so that the man of God may be perfect, having been trained for every good work.
