Siracide 17

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore ha creato l'uomo dalla terra, e ad essa lo fa di nuovo tornare.	1 The Lord fashioned human beings from the earth, to consign them back to it.
2 Gli ha concesso giorni contati e tempo definito, dandogli potere su quanto essa contiene.	2 He gave them so many days and so much time, he gave them authority over everything on earth.
3 Li ha rivestiti di forza come se stesso, li ha fatti secondo la sua immagine.	3 He clothed them in strength, like himself, and made them in his own image.
4 Ha posto il timore di lui su ogni carne, perché egli dominasse le bestie e i volatili.	4 He fil ed al living things with dread of human beings, making them masters over beasts and birds.
5 Il consiglio, la lingua, gli occhi, gli orecchi e il cuore diede loro per ragionare.	5
6 Li riempì con giudizio e intelligenza, e mostrò loro il bene e il male.	6 He made them a tongue, eyes and ears, and gave them a heart to think with.
7 Pose nei loro cuori il suo timore per mostrare la grandezza delle sue opere.	7 He fil ed them with knowledge and intelligence, and showed them what was good and what evil.
8 Loderanno il suo santo nome, per narrare i portenti delle sue opere.	8 He put his own light in their hearts to show them the magnificence of his works,
9 Ha dato loro l'intelligenza, li ha dotati con la legge della vita.	9
10 Stabilì con loro un'alleanza eterna e mostrò loro i suoi giudizi.	10 so that they would praise his holy name as they told of his magnificent works.
11 I loro occhi videro lo splendore della sua gloria, il loro orecchio udì la meraviglia della sua voce.	11 He set knowledge before them, he endowed them with the law of life.
12 E disse loro: "Guardatevi da ogni ingiustizia"; e ordinò che ciascuno si curasse del prossimo.	12 He established an eternal covenant with them, and revealed his judgements to them.
13 Le loro vie son sempre davanti a lui, non sono nascoste ai suoi occhi.	13 Their eyes saw the majesty of his glory, and their ears heard the glory of his voice.
14 Stabilì per ogni popolo un reggitore, ma Israele è la porzione del Signore.	14 He said to them, 'Beware of al wrong-doing'; he gave each a commandment concerning hisneighbour.
15 Tutte le loro opere sono come il sole davanti a lui, i suoi occhi sono sempre sulle loro vie.	15 Their ways are always under his eye, they cannot be hidden from his sight.
16 Le loro ingiustizie non gli sono nascoste e tutti i loro peccati sono davanti al Signore.	16
17 Per lui è come un sigillo l'elemosina dell'uomo, custodisce come pupilla il bene fatto dall'uomo.	17 Over each nation he has set a governor, but Israel is the Lord's own portion.
18 Dopo sorgerà per ricompensarli, renderà loro il premio sul capo.	18
19 Nondimeno ai pentiti lascia aperta la via e agli esitanti dà la forza della costanza.	19 Their actions are al as plain as the sun to him, and his eyes rest constantly on their conduct.
20 Ritorna al Signore, stàccati dal peccato, prega in sua presenza, riduci gli ostacoli.	20 Their iniquities are not hidden from him, al their sins are before the Lord.
21 Volgiti all'Altissimo, desisti dall'ingiustizia: odia profondamente ciò ch'egli detesta.	21
22 Chi loderà l'Altissimo negl'inferi invece dei vivi che gli rendono grazie?	22 Almsgiving is like a signet ring to him, he cherishes generosity like the pupil of an eye.
23 Per il morto -- egli è come inesistente -- cessa la lode; chi è vivo e sano loda il Signore.	23 One day he wil rise and reward them, he wil repay their deserts on their own heads.
24 Come è grande la misericordia del Signore e il suo perdono per quanti tornano a lui!	24 But to those who repent he permits return, and he encourages those who have lost hope.
25 Non può esserci tutto negli uomini, perché un figlio d'uomo non è immortale.	25 Return to the Lord and renounce your sins, plead before his face, stop offending him.
26 Cosa è più luminoso del sole? Anch'esso si oscura! Così l'uomo di carne e sangue concepisce il male.	26 Come back to the Most High, turn away from iniquity and hold all that is foul in abhorrence.
27 Dio passa in rassegna gli astri nel più alto dei cieli, mentre gli uomini tutti son polvere e terra.	27 Who is going to praise the Most High in Sheol if we do not glorify him while we are alive?
	28 The dead can praise no more than those who do not exist, only those with life and health can praisethe Lord.
	29 How great is the mercy of the Lord, his pardon for those who turn to him!
	30 For we cannot have everything, human beings are not immortal.
	31 What is brighter than the sun? And yet it fades. Flesh and blood think of nothing but evil.
	32 He surveys the armies of the lofty sky, and al of us are only dust and ashes.
