1 And the people set out from Hazeroth, and they pitched their tents in the desert of Paran.	1 Και ελαλησε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην λεγων,
2 And there, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	2 Αποστειλον ανδρας δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην Χανααν, την οποιαν εγω διδω εις τους υιους Ισραηλ? απο πασης φυλης των πατερων αυτων θελετε αποστειλει ανα ενα ανδρα, εκαστον εξ αυτων αρχηγον.
3 “Send men, who may examine the land of Canaan, which I will give to the sons of Israel, one from the rulers of each tribe.”	3 Και απεστειλεν αυτους ο Μωυσης δια προσταγης του Κυριου εκ της ερημου Φαραν. Παντες οι ανδρες ουτοι ησαν αρχηγοι των υιων Ισραηλ.
4 Moses did what the Lord had commanded, sending, from the desert of Paran, leading men, whose names are these:	4 Και ταυτα ησαν τα ονοματα αυτων? εκ της φυλης Ρουβην, Σαμμουα ο υιος του Σακχουρ?
5 from the tribe of Ruben, Shammua the son of Zaccur;	5 εκ της φυλης Συμεων, Σαφατ ο υιος του Χορρι?
6 from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori;	6 εκ της φυλης Ιουδα, Χαλεβ ο υιος του Ιεφοννη?
7 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh;	7 εκ της φυλης Ισσαχαρ, Ιγαλ ο υιος του Ιωσηφ?
8 from the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph;	8 εκ της φυλης Εφραιμ, Αυση ο υιος του Ναυη?
9 from the tribe of Ephraim, Hosea the son of Nun;	9 εκ της φυλης Βενιαμιν, Φαλτι ο υιος του Ραφου?
10 from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu;	10 εκ της φυλης Ζαβουλων, Γαδιηλ ο υιος του Σουδι?
11 from the tribe of Zebulon, Gaddiel the son of Sodi;	11 εκ της φυλης Ιωσηφ, εκ της φυλης Μανασση, Γαδδι ο υιος του Σουσι?
12 from the tribe of Joseph, of the scepter of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi;	12 εκ της φυλης Δαν, Αμμιηλ ο υιος του Γεμαλι?
13 from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli;	13 εκ της φυλης Ασηρ, Σεθουρ ο υιος του Μιχαηλ?
14 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;	14 εκ της φυλης Νεφθαλι, Νααβι ο υιος του Βαυσι?
15 from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi;	15 εκ της φυλης Γαδ, Γεουηλ ο υιος του Μαχι.
16 from the tribe of Gad, Guel the son of Machi.	16 Ταυτα ειναι τα ονοματα των ανδρων, τους οποιους απεστειλεν ο Μωυσης δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην? και επωνομασεν ο Μωυσης τον Αυση, τον υιον του Ναυη, Ιησουν.
17 These are the names of the men, whom Moses sent to examine the land. And he called Hosea, the son of Nun, Joshua.	17 Και απεστειλεν αυτους ο Μωυσης δια να κατασκοπευσωσι την γην Χανααν? και ειπε προς αυτους, Αναβητε απο του μερους τουτου της μεσημβριας και θελετε αναβη εις το ορος?
18 And so, Moses sent them to examine the land of Canaan, and he said to them: “Ascend by the south side. And when you arrive at the mountains,	18 και θεωρησατε την γην, οποια ειναι, και τον λαον τον κατοικουντα εν αυτη, εαν ηναι δυνατος η αδυνατος, ολιγοι η πολλοι?
19 consider the land, as to what kind it may be, and the people, who are its inhabitants, whether they may be strong or weak, whether they may be few in number or many,	19 και οποια ειναι η γη εν η ουτοι κατοικουσι, καλη ηναι η κακη? και οποιαι ειναι αι πολεις, τας οποιας ουτοι κατοικουσιν, ατειχιστοι η περιτετειχισμεναι?
20 and the land itself, whether it is good or bad, what kind of cities, walled or without walls,	20 και οποια ειναι η γη, παχεια ηναι η λεπτη, εαν υπαρχωσιν εν αυτη δενδρα η ουχι? και ανδριζεσθε και φερετε απο των καρπων της γης. Αι δε ημεραι ησαν αι ημεραι των πρωτων σταφυλων.
21 the soil, rich or barren, forested or without trees. Be strong, and bring us some of the fruits of the land.” Now it was the time when the first ripe grapes were ready to be eaten.	21 Και αναβαντες κατεσκοπευσαν την γην απο της ερημου Σιν εως Ρεωβ, κατα την εισοδον Αιμαθ.
22 And when they had ascended, they explored the land from the desert of Sin, all the way to Rehob, as one enters into Hamath.	22 Και ανεβησαν κατα το μεσημβρινον, και ηλθον εως Χεβρων, οπου ησαν Αχιμαν, Σεσαι και Θαλμαι, οι υιοι του Ανακ. Η δε Χεβρων εκτισθη επτα ετη προ της Τανεως της Αιγυπτου.
23 And they ascended by the south side. And they arrived at Hebron, where there were Ahiman and Shishai and Talmai, the sons of Anak. For Hebron was founded seven years before Tanis, the city of Egypt.	23 Και ηλθον μεχρι της φαραγγος Εσχωλ, και εκοψαν εκειθεν κλημα αμπελου μετα ενος βοτρυος σταφυλης, και εβασταζον αυτο δυο επι ξυλου? εφεραν και ροδια και συκα.
24 And continuing on as far as the Torrent of the Cluster of Grapes, they cut off a vine with its grapes, which two men carried on a board. Likewise, they took from the pomegranates and the figs of that place,	24 Ο τοπος εκεινος ωνομασθη φαραγξ Εσχωλ? δια τον βοτρυν τον οποιον εκοψαν εκειθεν οι υιοι Ισραηλ.
25 which was called Nehel Eshcol, that is, the Torrent of the Cluster of Grapes, because the sons of Israel had carried a cluster of grapes from there.	25 Και επεστρεψαν, αφου κατεσκοπευσαν την γην, μετα τεσσαρακοντα ημερας.
26 And those exploring the land returned after forty days, having circulated through the entire region.	26 Και πορευθεντες ηλθον προς τον Μωυσην, και προς τον Ααρων, και προς πασαν την συναγωγην των υιων Ισραηλ, εκ τη ερημω Φαραν, εις Καδης? και εφεραν αποκρισιν προς αυτους, και προς πασαν την συναγωγην, και εδειξαν εις αυτους τον καρπον της γης.
27 And they went to Moses and Aaron, and to the entire assembly of the sons of Israel in the desert of Paran, which is in Kadesh. And speaking to them, and to the entire multitude, they showed them the fruits of the land.	27 Και απηγγειλαν προς αυτον, και ειπον, Ηλθομεν εις την γην, εις την οποιαν απεστειλας εμας, και ειναι τωοντι γη ρεουσα γαλα και μελι και ιδου, ο καρπος αυτης?
28 And they explained, saying: “We went into the land, to which you sent us, which, it is true, flows with milk and honey, as one can know by these fruits.	28 ο λαος ομως, ο κατοικων εν τη γη, ειναι δυνατος, και αι πολεις περιτετειχισμεναι, μεγαλαι σφοδρα? προς τουτοις, ειδομεν εκει και τους υιους του Ανακ?
29 But it has very strong occupants, and the cities are great and also walled. We saw the race of Anak there.	29 οι Αμαληκιται κατοικουσιν εν τη γη της μεσημβριας? και οι Χετταιοι, και οι Ιεβουσαιοι, και οι Αμορραιοι, κατοικουσιν επι τα ορη? και οι Χαναναιοι κατοικουσι παρα την θαλασσαν και τας οχθας του Ιορδανου.
30 Amalek lives in the south. The Hethite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite live in the mountains. And truly, the Canaanite stays near the sea and around the streams of the Jordan.”	30 Και ο Χαλεβ κατεσιγασε τον λαον εμπροσθεν του Μωυσεως, και ειπεν, Ας αναβωμεν ευθυς, και ας εξουσιασωμεν αυτην? διοτι δυναμεθα να κυριευσωμεν αυτην.
31 During these events, Caleb, to restrain the murmuring of the people who rose up against Moses, said, “Let us ascend and possess the land, for we will be able to obtain it.”	31 Οι ανθρωποι ομως, οι συναναβαντες μετ' αυτου, ειπαν, Δεν δυναμεθα να αναβωμεν επι τον λαον τουτον, διοτι ειναι δυνατωτεροι ημων.
32 Yet truly, the others, who had been with him, were saying, “By no means are we able to ascend to this people, because they are stronger than we are.”	32 Και δυσφημησαν την γην, την οποιαν κατεσκοπευσαν, προς τους υιους Ισραηλ, λεγοντες, Η γη, την οποιαν διεπερασαμεν δια να κατασκοπευσωμεν αυτην, ειναι γη κατατρωγουσα τους κατοικους αυτης? και πας ο λαος, τον οποιον ειδομεν εν αυτη ειναι ανδρες υπερμεγεθεις?
33 And before the sons of Israel they disparaged the land, which they had inspected, saying: “The land, which we viewed, devours its inhabitants. The people, upon whom we gazed, were of lofty stature.	33 και ειδομεν εκει τους γιγαντας, τους υιους Ανακ, του εκ των γιγαντων? και εβλεπομεν εαυτους ως ακριδας και τοιουτους εβλεπον ημας αυτοι.
34 There, we saw some monsters among the sons of Anak, of the race of giants; by comparison with them, we seemed like locusts.”
