CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to you, who dwells in the heavens.1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
Behold, as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress, so our eyes are upon the Lord our God, until he may be merciful to us.2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us. For we have been filled with utter disdain.3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
For our soul has been greatly filled. We are the disgrace of those who have abundance and the disdain of the arrogant.4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.
For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
