Job 16

1 Then Job, answering, said:	1 Allora rispose:
2 I have often heard such things; you are all aggravating comforters.	2 Ne ho udite già molte di simili cose! Siete tutti consolatori molesti.
3 Will there be no end to windy words? Or is it at all a burden to you, if you speak?	3 Non avran termine le parole campate in aria? O che cosa ti spinge a rispondere così?
4 I, too, can speak like you; and I also wish that your soul favored my soul.	4 Anch'io sarei capace di parlare come voi, se voi foste al mio posto: vi affogherei con parole e scuoterei il mio capo su di voi.
5 I would also comfort you with speeches and would wag my head over you.	5 Vi conforterei con la bocca e il tremito delle mie labbra cesserebbe.
6 I would strengthen you with my mouth, and would move my lips, as if being lenient to you.	6 Ma se parlo, non viene impedito il mio dolore; se taccio, che cosa lo allontana da me?
7 But what can I do? When I am speaking, my grief will not be quiet; and if I am quiet, it will not withdraw from me.	7 Ora però egli m'ha spossato, fiaccato, tutto il mio vicinato mi è addosso;
8 But now my grief has crushed me, and all my limbs have been reduced to nothing.	8 si è costituito testimone ed è insorto contro di me: il mio calunniatore mi accusa in faccia.
9 My wrinkles bear witness against me, and a liar rises up against my face, contradicting me.	9 La sua collera mi dilania e mi perseguita; digrigna i denti contro di me, il mio nemico su di me aguzza gli occhi.
10 He has gathered together his fury towards me, and, threatening me, he has roared against me with his teeth; my enemy has beheld me with terrible eyes.	10 Spalancano la bocca contro di me, mi schiaffeggiano con insulti, insieme si alleano contro di me.
11 They have opened their mouths against me, and, reproaching me, they have struck me on the cheek; they are nourished by my sufferings.	11 Dio mi consegna come preda all'empio, e mi getta nelle mani dei malvagi.
12 God has confined me with the immoral, and he has delivered me into the hands of the impious.	12 Me ne stavo tranquillo ed egli mi ha rovinato, mi ha afferrato per il collo e mi ha stritolato; ha fatto di me il suo bersaglio.
13 I, who once was wealthy, am now crushed. He has grabbed me by my neck; he has broken me and has place me before him as a sign.	13 I suoi arcieri mi circondano; mi trafigge i fianchi senza pietà, versa a terra il mio fiele,
14 He has surrounded me with his lances. He has severely wounded my lower back, he has not been lenient, and he has poured out my organs upon the earth.	14 mi apre ferita su ferita, mi si avventa contro come un guerriero.
15 He has cut me with wound after wound. He has rushed upon me like a giant.	15 Ho cucito un sacco sulla mia pelle e ho prostrato la fronte nella polvere.
16 I have sewn sackcloth over my skin, and I have covered my body with ashes.	16 La mia faccia è rossa per il pianto e sulle mie palpebre v'è una fitta oscurità.
17 My face is swollen from weeping, and my eyelids have dimmed my vision.	17 Non c'è violenza nelle mie mani e pura è stata la mia preghiera.
18 These things I have endured without iniquity in my hand, while I held pure prayers before God.	18 O terra, non coprire il mio sangue e non abbia sosta il mio grido!
19 O earth, do not conceal my blood, nor let my outcry find a hiding place in you.	19 Ma ecco, fin d'ora il mio testimone è nei cieli, il mio mallevadore è lassù;
20 For behold, my witness is in heaven, and my confidante is on high.	20 miei avvocati presso Dio sono i miei lamenti, mentre davanti a lui sparge lacrime il mio occhio,
21 My friends are full of words; my eye rains tears upon God.	21 perché difenda l'uomo davanti a Dio, come un mortale fa con un suo amico;
22 And I wish that a man might be so judged before God, just as the son of man is judged with his assistant!	22 poiché passano i miei anni contati e io me ne vado per una via senza ritorno.
23 For behold, a few years pass by, and I am walking a path by which I will not return.
