1 And David spoke to the Lord the words of this verse, in the day that the Lord freed him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.	1 David sang dem Herrn an dem Tag, als ihn der Herr aus der Gewalt all seiner Feinde und aus der Gewalt Sauls errettet hatte, folgendes Lied:
2 And he said: “The Lord is my rock, and my strength, and my Savior.	2 Herr, du mein Fels, meine Burg, mein Retter,
3 I will hope in him. God is my strong one, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. He lifts me up, and he is my refreshment. You, O my Savior, will free me from iniquity.	3 mein Gott, mein Fels, bei dem ich mich berge, mein Schild und sicheres Heil, meine Feste, meine Zuflucht, mein Helfer, der mich vor der Gewalttat rettet.
4 I will call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy; and I will be saved from my enemies.	4 Ich rufe: Der Herr sei gepriesen!, und ich werde vor meinen Feinden gerettet.
5 For the pangs of death have encircled me. The torrents of Belial have terrified me.	5 Denn mich umfingen die Wellen des Todes, mich erschreckten die Fluten des Verderbens.
6 The ropes of Hell have encompassed me. The snares of death have intercepted me.	6 Die Bande der Unterwelt umstrickten mich, über mich fielen die Schlingen des Todes.
7 In my tribulation, I will call upon the Lord, and I will cry out to my God. And he will heed my voice from his temple, and my outcry will reach his ears.	7 In meiner Not rief ich zum Herrn und rief zu meinem Gott. Aus seinem Heiligtum hörte er mein Rufen, mein Hilfeschrei (drang) zu seinen Ohren.

10 He bent down the heavens, and it descended; and a fog was beneath his feet.	10 Er neigte den Himmel und fuhr herab, zu seinen Füßen dunkle Wolken.
11 And he climbed upon the cherubim, and he flew; and he slid upon the wings of the wind.	11 Er fuhr auf dem Kerub und flog daher; er schwebte auf den Flügeln des Windes.
12 He set darkness as a hiding place around himself, with waters sifted from the clouds of the heavens.	12 Er hüllte sich in Finsternis, in dunkles Wasser und dichtes Gewölk wie in ein Zelt.
13 By means of the brightness of his glance, coals of fire were kindled.	13 Von seinem Glanz flammten glühende Kohlen auf.
14 The Lord will thunder from heaven; and the Most High will utter his voice.	14 Da ließ der Herr den Donner vom Himmel her dröhnen, der Höchste ließ seine Stimme erschallen.
15 He shot arrows, and he scattered them; lightning, and he consumed them.	15 Er schoss seine Pfeile und streute sie, er schleuderte Blitze und jagte sie dahin.
16 And the overflow of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the globe were revealed, at the rebuke of the Lord, at the exhale of the breath of his fury.	16 Da wurden sichtbar die Tiefen des Meeres, die Grundfesten der Erde wurden entblößt durch das Drohen des Herrn, vor dem Schnauben seines zornigen Atems.
17 He sent from on high, and he took me up. And he drew me out of many waters.	17 Er griff aus der Höhe herab und fasste mich, zog mich heraus aus gewaltigen Wassern.
18 He freed me from my most powerful enemy and from those who had hated me. For they were too strong for me.	18 Er entriss mich meinen mächtigen Feinden, die stärker waren als ich und mich hassten.
19 He went before me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my firmament.	19 Sie überfielen mich am Tag meines Unheils, doch der Herr wurde mein Halt.
20 And he led me out to a wide-open place. He freed me, because I was pleasing to him.	20 Er führte mich hinaus ins Weite, er befreite mich, denn er hatte an mir Gefallen.
21 The Lord will reward me according to my justice. And he will repay me according to the cleanness of my hands.	21 Der Herr hat mir vergolten, weil ich gerecht bin und meine Hände rein sind.
22 For I have kept to the ways of the Lord, and I have not acted impiously before my God.	22 Denn ich hielt mich an die Wege des Herrn und fiel nicht ruchlos ab von meinem Gott.
23 For all his judgments are in my sight. And I have not removed his precepts from me.	23 Ja, ich habe alle seine Gebote vor Augen, weiche von seinen Gesetzen niemals ab.
24 And I shall be perfect with him. And I shall guard myself from my own iniquity.	24 Ich war vor ihm ohne Makel, ich nahm mich in Acht vor der Sünde.
25 And the Lord will recompense me according to my justice, and according to the cleanness of my hands in the sight of his eyes.	25 Darum hat der Herr mir vergolten, weil ich gerecht bin und weil ich rein bin vor seinen Augen.
26 With the holy one, you will be holy, and with the strong one, you will be perfect.	26 Gegen den Treuen zeigst du dich treu, an dem Aufrichtigen handelst du recht.
27 With the elect one, you will be elect, and with the perverse one, you will be perverse.	27 Gegen den Reinen zeigst du dich rein, doch falsch gegen den Falschen.
28 And you will bring to salvation the poor people, and you will humble the exalted with your eyes.	28 Dem bedrückten Volk bringst du Heil, doch die Blicke der Stolzen zwingst du nieder.
29 For you are my lamp, O Lord. And you, O Lord, will illuminate my darkness.	29 Ja, du bist meine Leuchte, Herr. Der Herr macht meine Finsternis hell.
30 For in you, I will run girded. In my God, I will leap over the wall.	30 Mit dir erstürme ich Wälle, mit meinem Gott überspringe ich Mauern.
31 God, his way is immaculate; the eloquence of the Lord is an exacting fire. He is the shield of all who hope in him.	31 Vollkommen ist Gottes Weg, das Wort des Herrn ist im Feuer geläutert. Ein Schild ist er für alle, die sich bei ihm bergen.
32 Who is God except the Lord? And who is strong except our God?	32 Denn wer ist Gott als allein der Herr, wer ist ein Fels, wenn nicht unser Gott?
33 God, he has girded me with fortitude, and he has made my way perfect:	33 Gott ist meine starke Burg, er gab mir meinen Weg ohne Hindernis frei.
34 making my feet like the feet of the stag, and stationing me upon my exalted places,	34 Er ließ mich springen schnell wie Hirsche, auf hohem Weg ließ er mich gehen.
35 teaching my hands to do battle, and making my arms like a bow of brass.	35 Er lehrte meine Hände kämpfen, meine Arme, den ehernen Bogen zu spannen.
36 You have given me the shield of your salvation. And your mildness has multiplied me.	36 Du gabst mir deine Hilfe zum Schild, dein Zuspruch machte mich groß.
37 You will enlarge my steps under me, and my ankles will not fail.	37 Du schaffst meinen Schritten weiten Raum, meine Knöchel wanken nicht.
38 I will pursue my enemies, and crush them. And I will not turn back, until I consume them.	38 Ich verfolge meine Feinde und vertilge sie, ich kehre nicht um, bis sie vernichtet sind.
39 I will consume them and break them apart, so that they cannot rise up; they will fall under my feet.	39 Ich vernichte sie, ich schlage sie nieder; sie können sich nicht mehr erheben, sie fallen und liegen unter meinen Füßen.
40 You have girded me with strength for the battle. Those who resisted me, you have bent down under me.	40 Du hast mich zum Kampf mit Kraft umgürtet, hast (alle) in die Knie gezwungen, die sich gegen mich erhoben.
41 You have caused my enemies to turn their back to me; they have hatred for me, and I shall destroy them.	41 Meine Feinde hast du zur Flucht gezwungen; ich konnte die vernichten, die mich hassen.
42 They will cry out, and there will be no one to save; to the Lord, and he will not heed them.	42 Sie schreien, doch hilft ihnen niemand, sie schreien zum Herrn, doch er gibt keine Antwort.
43 I will wipe them away like the dust of the earth. I will break them apart and crush them, like the mud of the streets.	43 Ich zermalme sie wie Staub auf der Erde, wie Unrat auf der Straße zertrete, zermalme ich sie.
44 You will save me from the contradictions of my people. You will preserve me to be the head of the Gentiles; a people I do not know shall serve me.	44 Du rettest mich aus dem Streit meines Volkes, bewahrst mich als Haupt ganzer Völker. Stämme, die ich früher nicht kannte, sind mir nun untertan.
45 The sons of foreigners, who will resist me, at the hearing of the ear they will be obedient to me.	45 Mir huldigen die Söhne der Fremde; sobald sie mich nur hören, gehorchen sie mir.
46 The foreigners flowed away, but they will be drawn together in their anguishes.	46 Die Söhne der Fremde schwinden dahin, sie kommen zitternd aus ihren Burgen hervor.
47 The Lord lives, and my God is blessed. And the strong God of my salvation shall be exalted.	47 Es lebt der Herr! Mein Fels sei gepriesen! Der Gott, der Fels meines Heils, sei hoch erhoben;
48 God gives me vindication, and he casts down the peoples under me.	48 denn Gott verschaffte mir Vergeltung und unterwarf mir die Völker.
49 He leads me away from my enemies, and he lifts me up from those who resist me. You will free me from the iniquitous man.	49 Du hast mich meinen Feinden entführt, mich über meine Gegner erhoben, dem Mann der Gewalt mich entrissen.
50 Because of this, I will confess to you, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and I will sing to your name:	50 Darum will ich dir danken, Herr, vor den Völkern, ich will deinem Namen singen und spielen.
51 magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring forever.”	51 Seinem König verlieh er große Hilfe, Huld erwies er seinem Gesalbten, David und seinem Stamm auf ewig.
