1 Moses aber und die Ältesten Israels gaben dem Volke folgenden Befehl: "Befolgt alle Gebote, die ich euch heute gebe!	1 Then Moses, with the elders of Israel, gave the people this order: "Keep all these commandments which I enjoin on you today.
2 Wenn ihr über den Jordan in das Land hinübergekommen seid, das dir der Herr, dein Gott, geben wird, dann richte dir große Steine auf und bestreiche sie mit Kalk!	2 On the day you cross the Jordan into the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.
3 Schreibe auf sie anläßlich deines Einzuges alle Worte dieses Gesetzes, damit du hineinkommst in das Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir verleiht, ein Land, das von Milch und Honig überfließt, wie der Herr, der Gott deiner Väter, dir verheißen.	3 Also write on them, at the time you cross, all the words of this law, that you may thus enter into the land flowing with milk and honey, which the LORD, your God, and the God of your fathers, is giving you as he promised you.
4 Habt ihr den Jordan überschritten, so errichtet diese Steine, um derentwillen ich euch heute Befehl erteile, auf dem Berge Garizim, und du sollst sie mit Kalk übertünchen!	4 When, moreover, you have crossed the Jordan, besides setting up on Mount Ebal these stones concerning which I command you today, and coating them with plaster,
5 Ferner sollst du dort dem Herrn, deinem Gott, einen Altar bauen, einen Altar aus Steinen, die du mit keinem Eisenwerkzeug bearbeitet hast.	5 you shall also build to the LORD, your God, an altar made of stones that no iron tool has touched.
6 Aus unbehauenen Steinen sollst du den Altar des Herrn, deines Gottes, errichten und darauf dem Herrn, deinem Gott, Brandopfer darbringen.	6 You shall make this altar of the LORD, your God, with undressed stones, and shall offer on it holocausts to the LORD, your God.
7 Ebenso sollst du dort Friedopfer schlachten und ein fröhliches Opfermahl vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, halten.	7 You shall also sacrifice peace offerings and eat them there, making merry before the LORD, your God.
8 Schreibe auf die Steine alle Worte dieses Gesetzes deutlich und genau!"	8 On the stones you shall inscribe all the words of this law very clearly."
9 Moses und die levitischen Priester sprachen zu ganz Israel: "Schweige und höre, Israel! Heute bist du das Volk des Herrn, deines Gottes, geworden.	9 Moses, with the levitical priests, then said to all Israel: "Be silent, O Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD, your God.
10 Höre denn auf die Stimme des Herrn, deines Gottes; halte seine Gebote und Satzungen, die ich dir heute gebiete!"	10 You shall therefore hearken to the voice of the LORD, your God, and keep his commandments and statutes which I enjoin on you today."
11 An jenem Tag gab Moses dem Volk folgende Anweisung:	11 That same day Moses gave the people this order:
12 "Wenn ihr den Jordan überschritten habt, sollen sich die einen zur Segnung des Volkes auf dem Berge Garizim aufstellen: Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Joseph und Benjamin;	12 "When you cross the Jordan, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin shall stand on Mount Gerizim to pronounce blessings over the people,
13 die andern aber sollen sich zum Aussprechen des Fluches auf dem Berg Ebal aufstellen: Ruben, Gad, Aser, Sebulun, Dan und Naphtali.	13 while Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali shall stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce curses.
14 Die Leviten sollen feierlich zu Gesamtisrael mit erhobener Stimme sprechen:	14 "The Levites shall proclaim aloud to all the men of Israel:
15 "Verflucht ist, wer ein Schnitzbild oder Gußbild - ein Greuel für den Herrn -, ein Machwerk von Künstlerhand, verfertigt und insgeheim aufstellt!" Das ganze Volk soll antworten: "So sei es!"	15 'Cursed be the man who makes a carved or molten idol--an abomination to the LORD, the product of a craftsman's hands--and sets it up in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
16 "Verflucht ist, wer seinen Vater oder seine Mutter verwünscht!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	16 'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
17 "Verflucht ist, wer die Grenze seines Nachbarn verschiebt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	17 'Cursed be he who moves his neighbor's landmarks!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
18 "Verflucht ist, wer einen Blinden auf dem Weg in die Irre führt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	18 'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on his way!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
19 "Verflucht ist, wer das Recht des Fremdlings, der Waise und der Witwe beugt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	19 'Cursed be he who violates the rights of the alien, the orphan or the widow!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
20 "Verflucht ist, wer der Frau seines Vaters beiwohnt, denn er hat die Decke seines Vaters aufgedeckt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	20 'Cursed be he who has relations with his father's wife, for he dishonors his father's bed!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
21 "Verflucht ist, wer irgendeinem Tier beiwohnt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	21 'Cursed be he who has relations with any animal!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
22 "Verflucht ist, wer seiner Schwester, sei es die Tochter seines Vaters oder seiner Mutter, beiwohnt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	22 'Cursed be he who has relations with his sister or his half-sister!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
23 "Verflucht ist, wer seiner Schwiegermutter beiwohnt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	23 'Cursed be he who has relations with his mother-in-law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
24 "Verflucht ist, wer seinen Nächsten heimlich totschlägt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	24 'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
25 "Verflucht ist, wer für Bestechungsgeld unschuldiges Blut vergießt!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	25 'Cursed be he who accepts payment for slaying an innocent man!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
26 "Verflucht ist, wer den Worten dieses Gesetzes nicht durch ihre Erfüllung Geltung verschafft!" Das ganze Volk soll sprechen: "So sei es!"	26 'Cursed be he who fails to fulfill any of the provisions of this law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'
