1 Da sprach David: "Dies soll das Haus des Herrn und Gottes sein; und dies der Altar für die Brandopfer Israels!"	1 David then said, 'This is to be the house of Yahweh God and this the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'
2 David befahl, man solle die Fremden im Land Israel zusammenholen. Er setzte sie als Steinmetzen ein, um Quadern zu behauen für den Bau des Gotteshauses.	2 David then gave orders for al foreigners in Israel to be rounded up, and appointed quarrymen to cutdressed stone for building the house of God.
3 Sodann beschaffte David eine Menge Eisen für die Nägel zu den Torflügeln und für die Klammern und eine unwägbare Menge Erz.	3 David also prepared great quantities of iron to make nails for the leaves of the doors and for theclamps, and more bronze than could be weighed,
4 Ebenso besorgte er unzählige Zedernstämme; denn die Bewohner von Sidon und Tyrus belieferten David mit großen Mengen Zedernholz.	4 as wel as innumerable cedar-wood logs, as the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought cedar logs toDavid in great quantities.
5 David sagte sich nämlich: "Mein Sohn Salomo ist jung und zart. Das Haus aber, das dem Herrn zu erbauen ist, soll über die Maßen groß werden zum Ruhm und zur Zierde bei allen Ländern. Daher will ich die Vorbereitungen dafür treffen." So traf denn David zahlreiche Vorkehrungen noch vor seinem Tode.	5 David then said, 'My son Solomon is young and immature, and the house to be built for Yahweh mustbe superlatively fine, the most famous and splendid in any country. I shal now make the preparations for it.' Andso, before he died, David made ample preparations.
6 Dann rief er seinen Sohn Salomo und trug ihm auf, dem Herrn, dem Gott Israels, ein Haus zu bauen.	6 He then summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, God of Israel.
7 David sprach zu Salomo: "Mein Sohn, ich selbst hatte die Absicht, dem Namen des Herrn, meines Gottes, ein Haus zu bauen.	7 'My son,' David said to Solomon, 'my heart was set on building a house for the name of Yahweh myGod.
8 Da erging an mich das Wort des Herrn: "Du hast Blut in Mengen vergossen und gewaltige Kriege geführt. Du darfst meinem Namen kein Haus bauen; denn du hast viel Blut zur Erde vergossen vor meinem Antlitz.	8 But the word of Yahweh came to me, "You have shed much blood and fought great wars; it is not foryou to build a house for my name, since you have shed much blood in my sight on earth.
9 Siehe, ein Sohn wird dir geboren. Dieser wird ein Mann der Ruhe sein; ich will ihm Ruhe verschaffen vor seinen Feinden ringsum. Salomo sei sein Name. Frieden und Ruhe will ich in seinen Tagen Israel bescheren.	9 Look, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of peace, and I shal give him peace from hisenemies on all sides; for Solomon is to be his name, and in his days I shal give Israel peace and tranquil ity.
10 Er wird meinem Namen ein Haus bauen. Er soll mir Sohn sein, und ich will ihm Vater sein. Den Thron seiner Königsherrschaft will ich in Israel für immerwährende Zeit festigen."	10 He must build a house for my name; he wil be my son and I shall be his father, and I shall make thethrone of his kingdom secure over Israel for ever."
11 Und nun, mein Sohn, sei der Herr mit dir, auf daß du Erfolg habest und das Haus deines Gottes erbauest, wie er über dich vorausgesagt hat!	11 Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and give you success in building a house for Yahweh yourGod, as he has promised about you.
12 Ja, der Herr gebe dir, wenn er dich über Israel bestellt, Einsicht und Verstand und dazu die Gnade, daß du das Gesetz des Herrn, deines Gottes, erfüllst!	12 And especial y, may Yahweh give you discretion and discernment, may he give you his orders forIsrael, so that you may observe the Law of Yahweh your God.
13 Dann wirst du Erfolg haben, wenn du gewissenhaft die Satzungen und Gebote erfüllst, die der Herr dem Moses für Israel aufgetragen hat. Sei tapfer und mutig! Fürchte dich nicht und habe keine Angst!	13 Success wil be yours, only if you observe the statutes and ordinances which Yahweh gave Mosesas regulations for Israel. Be strong and stand fast, be fearless, be dauntless.
14 Siehe, durch meine Bemühung habe ich für das Haus des Herrn hunderttausend Talente Gold und eine Million Talente Silber beschafft. Erz und Eisen sind unwägbar; denn sie sind in Menge da. Auch Holzbalken und Steine habe ich besorgt, und du magst darüber hinaus noch mehr anschaffen!	14 Now, poor as I am, I have set aside for the house of Yahweh a hundred thousand talents of gold, amil ion talents of silver and more bronze and iron than can be weighed, there being so much. I have alsoprovided timber and stone, to which you may add more.
15 Werkleute in großer Menge stehen zu deinen Diensten, Steinmetzen, Maurer und Zimmerleute und alle beliebigen Meister für jegliche Werkarbeit	15 Furthermore, you have a large number of workmen, quarrymen, masons, carpenters and al sorts ofcraftsmen for every kind of work,
16 in Gold, Silber, Erz und Eisen ohne Zahl. Wohlan, mache dich ans Werk, und der Herr sei mit dir!"	16 while your gold and silver, bronze and iron wil be beyond reckoning. Set to work, then, and mayYahweh be with you!'
17 Danach befahl David allen Fürsten Israels, seinem Sohne Salomo beizustehen:	17 David then commanded al the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.
18 "War nicht der Herr, euer Gott, mit euch, und hat er euch nicht allseits Ruhe verschafft, indem er die Landesbewohner meiner Gewalt überlieferte, so daß das Land dem Herrn und seinem Volk unterworfen ist?	18 'Has not Yahweh your God been with you and given you peace on al sides, having put theinhabitants of the country into my power and the country now having been subdued for Yahweh and his people?
19 Wendet nun Herz und Sinn darauf, den Herrn, euren Gott, zu suchen! Auf! Baut das Heiligtum des Herrn, um die Bundeslade des Herrn und die heiligen Geräte Gottes in das Haus bringen zu können, das dem Namen des Herrn errichtet werden soll!"	19 So now devote heart and soul to searching for Yahweh your God. Set to and build the sanctuary ofYahweh God, so that you can bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and the holy vessels of God into thehouse built for the name of Yahweh.'
