Genesis 6

1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,	1 Quando gli uomini cominciarono a moltiplicarsi sopra la faccia della terra e nacquero figlie,
2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.	2 allora i figli di Dio videro che le figlie degli uomini erano piacevoli e sposarono tutte quelle che preferivano.
3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'	3 Allora Jahvè disse: «Il mio spirito non durerà per sempre nell’uomo perché egli non è che carne e i suoi giorni saranno di centoventi anni».
4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.	4 C’erano i giganti sulla terra a quei tempi e anche dopo, quando i figli di Dio si accostavano alle figlie degli uomini e queste partorivano loro figli: sono gli eroi dell’antichità, uomini famosi.
5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.	5 Allora Jahvè vide che la malvagità dell’uomo era grande sulla terra e che ogni pensiero concepito dal cuore non era rivolto ad altro che al male, sempre.
6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.	6 E Jahvè si pentì di avere fatto l’uomo sulla terra e si irritò nel suo cuore.
7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'	7 Jahvè disse: «Sterminerò dalla faccia della terra l’uomo che ho creato: uomo e bestiame e rettili e uccelli del cielo, poiché mi pento di averli fatti».
8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.	8 Ma Noè trovò favore agli occhi di Jahvè.
9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.	9 Questa è la storia di Noè. Noè era uomo giusto e integro tra i suoi contemporanei; Noè camminava con Dio.
10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.	10 Noè generò tre figli: Sem, Cam e Jafet.
11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.	11 Ma la terra era corrotta al cospetto di Dio; la terra era piena di violenza.
12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.	12 Dio mirò la terra ed ecco era corrotta, poiché ogni carne aveva corrotto la sua condotta sulla terra.
13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.	13 Allora Dio disse a Noè: «È decisa per me la fine di ogni mortale, poiché la terra, per causa loro, è piena di violenza; ecco, io li distruggerò insieme con la terra.
14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.	14 Costruisci per te un arca di legno resinoso; la farai a celle e la spalmerai di bitume dentro e fuori.
15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.	15 Ecco come devi costruirla: l’arca avrà trecento cubiti di lunghezza, cinquanta di larghezza e trenta di altezza.
16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.	16 Costruirai sull’arca un tetto e così la terminerai con un cubito più in su; di fianco metterai la porta dell’arca. La farai a ripiani: inferiore, medio e superiore.
17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.	17 Ecco, io sto per far venire il diluvio dell’acqua sulla terra, per distruggere sotto il cielo ogni carne in cui è l’alito di vita; quanto è sulla terra perirà.
18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.	18 Ma con te io stabilisco la mia alleanza; entrerai nell’arca tu e i tuoi figli, tua moglie e le mogli dei tuoi figli con te.
19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.	19 Di tutto ciò che vive, di ogni carne, introdurrai nell’arca due di ogni specie, per conservarli in vita con te: siano maschio e femmina.
20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.	20 Dei volatili secondo la loro specie, del bestiame secondo la sua specie e di tutti i rettili della terra secondo la loro specie, due di ognuna verranno con te, affinché siano conservati in vita.
21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'	21 Tu poi prenditi ogni sorta di commestibile che si può mangiare, e radunalo presso di te: questo sarà di nutrimento per te e per loro».
22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.	22 Noè fece tutto ciò che Dio gli aveva comandato; così egli fece.
