NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
"Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased."11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way:15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
"Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say,16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!"17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests!18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
