Proverbs 9

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;	1 La Sabiduría edificó su casa, talló sus siete columnas,
2 She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.	2 inmoló sus víctimas, mezcló su vino, y también preparó su mesa.
3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:	3 Ella envió a sus servidoras a proclamar sobre los sitios más altos de la ciudad:
4 "Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,	4 «El que sea incauto, que venga aquí». Y al falto de entendimiento, le dice:
5 Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!	5 «Vengan, coman de mi pan, y beban del vino que yo mezclé.
6 Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.	6 Abandonen la ingenuidad, y vivirán, y sigan derecho por el camino de la inteligencia».
7 He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.	7 El que corrige a un insolente se atrae la ignominia, y el que reprende a un malvado, el deshonor,
8 Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.	8 No reprendas a un insolente, no sea que te odie; reprende a un sabio, y te amará,
9 Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.	9 Da al sabio y se hará más sabio aún, instruye al justo y ganará en saber.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.	10 El comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor del Señor, y la ciencia del Santo es la inteligencia.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased."	11 Porque tus días se multiplicarán gracias a mí y se añadirán años a tu vida.
12 If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.	12 Si eres sabio, lo eres para ti, si eres insolente, tú solo lo sufrirás.
13 The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.	13 La señora Necedad es turbulenta, es estúpida y no sabe nada.
14 She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,	14 Ella se sienta a la puerta de su casa, en una silla, sobre las alturas de la ciudad,
15 Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way:	15 para gritar a los transeúntes que van derecho por el camino:
16 "Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say,	16 «El que sea incauto, que venga aquí». Y al falto de entendimiento, le dice:
17 Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!"	17 «¡Las aguas robadas son dulces y el pan quitado a escondidas, delicioso!».
18 Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests!	18 Pero él no sabe que allí están las Sombras, y sus invitados, en las profundidades del Abismo.
