Lettera ai Romani 12

1 Io vi scongiuro adunque, o fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, che presentiate i vostri corpi ostia viva, santa, gradevole a Dio (che è) il razionale vostro culto.	1 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the mercy of God, that you offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, with the subservience of your mind.
2 E non vogliate conformarvi a questo secolo, ma riformate voi stessi col rinnovellamento della vostra mente, per ravvisare qual sia la volontà di Dio, buona, gradevole, e perfetta.	2 And do not choose to be conformed to this age, but instead choose to be reformed in the newness of your mind, so that you may demonstrate what is the will of God: what is good, and what is well-pleasing, and what is perfect.
3 Dico adunque per la grazia, che mi è stata data, a quanti son tra di voi: che non siano saggi più di quel, che convenga esser saggi, ma di essere moderatamente saggi, e secondo la misura della fede distribuita da Dio a ciascheduno.	3 For I say, through the grace that has been given to me, to all who are among you: Taste no more than it is necessary to taste, but taste unto sobriety and just as God has distributed a share of the faith to each one.
4 Imperocché siccome in un sol corpo abbiam molte membra, e non tutte le membra hanno la stessa azione:	4 For just as, within one body, we have many parts, though all the parts do not have the same role,
5 Cosi siamo molti un solo corpo in Cristo, e a uno a uno membra gli uni degli altri.	5 so also we, being many, are one body in Christ, and each one is a part, the one of the other.
6 Abbiam però doni diversi secondo la grazia, che ci è stata data; chi la profezia (la usi) secondo la regola della fede;	6 And we each have different gifts, according to the grace that has been given to us: whether prophecy, in agreement with the reasonableness of faith;
7 Chi il ministero, amministri; chi l'insegnare, insegni;	7 or ministry, in ministering; or he who teaches, in doctrine;
8 L'ammonitore ammonisca; chi fa altrui parte del suo (la faccia) con semplicità; chi presiede, sia sollecito; chi fa opere di misericordia (le faccia) con ilarità.	8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, in simplicity; he who governs, in solicitude; he who shows mercy, in cheerfulness.
9 Dilezione non finta. Abborrimento del male, affezione al bene:	9 Let love be without falseness: hating evil, clinging to what is good,
10 Amandovi scambievolmente con fraterna carità: prevenendovi gli uni gli altri nel rendervi onore:	10 loving one another with fraternal charity, surpassing one another in honor:
11 Per sollecitudine non tardi: fervorosi di spirito: servendo noi al Signore:	11 in solicitude, not lazy; in spirit, fervent; serving the Lord;
12 Lieti per la speranza: pazienti nella tribolazione: assidui nell'orazione:	12 in hope, rejoicing; in tribulation, enduring; in prayer, ever-willing;
13 Entrando a parte de' bisogni dei Santi: praticando ospitalità.	13 in the difficulties of the saints, sharing; in hospitality, attentive.
14 Benedite coloro, che vi perseguitano: benedite, e non vogliate maledire.	14 Bless those who are persecuting you: bless, and do not curse.
15 Rallegrarsi con chi si rallegra, piangere con chi piange:	15 Rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Weep with those who are weeping.
16 Avendo gli stessi sentimenti l'uno per l'altro: non assettando cose sublimi, ma adattandovi alle cose basse. Non vogliate esser sapienti negli occhi vostri:	16 Be of the same mind toward one another: not savoring what is exalted, but consenting in humility. Do not choose to seem wise to yourself.
17 Non rendendo male per male: avendo cura di ben fare non solo negli occhi di Dio, ma anche in quelli di tutti gli uomini.	17 Render to no one harm for harm. Provide good things, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of all men.
18 Se è possibile, per quanto da voi dipende, avendo pace con tutti gli uomini:	18 If it is possible, in so far as you are able, be at peace with all men.
19 Non vendicandovi da voi stessi, o carissimi, ma date luogo all'ira; imperocché sta scritto: A me la vendetta; io farò ragione, dice il Signore.	19 Do not defend yourselves, dearest ones. Instead, step aside from wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is mine. I shall give retribution, says the Lord.”
20 Se pertanto il nemico tuo ha fame,dagli da mangiare: se ha sete, dagli da bere: imperocché così facendo, ragunerai carboni ardenti sopra la sua testa.	20 So if an enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in doing so, you will heap burning coals upon his head.
21 Non voler esser vinto dal male, ma vinci col bene il male.	21 Do not allow evil to prevail, instead prevail over evil by means of goodness.
