John 10

1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.	1 "In verità, in verità vi dico: chi non entra per la porta nell'ovile delle pecore, ma s'arrampica da un'altra parte, è un ladro e un bandito.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.	2 Chi invece entra per la porta è pastore delle pecore.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.	3 Il guardiano gli apre, le pecore ascoltano la sua voce e chiama le proprie pecore per nome e le fa uscire.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.	4 Quando ha spinto fuori tutte le proprie, cammina davanti a loro e le pecore lo seguono, perché conoscono la sua voce.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.	5 Non seguiranno affatto un estraneo, ma fuggiranno lontano da lui, perché non conoscono la voce degli estranei".
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.	6 Gesù disse loro questa parabola. Ma quelli non compresero di che cosa volesse parlare loro.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.	7 Gesù allora continuò: "In verità, in verità vi dico: io sono la porta delle pecore.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.	8 Tutti coloro che vennero prima di me sono ladri e briganti. Ma le pecore non li ascoltarono.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.	9 Io sono la porta. Chi entrerà attraverso di me sarà salvo; entrerà ed uscirà e troverà pascolo.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.	10 Il ladro non entra che per rubare, sgozzare e distruggere. Io sono venuto perché abbiano la vita e l'abbiano in sovrabbondanza.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.	11 Io sono il buon pastore. Il buon pastore dà la sua vita per le pecore.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.	12 Il mercenario invece che non è pastore, cui non appartengono le pecore, vede venire il lupo, abbandona le pecore e fugge, e il lupo le rapisce e le disperde,
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.	13 perché è mercenario e non gli importa delle pecore.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.	14 Io sono il buon pastore e conosco le mie e le mie conoscono me,
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.	15 come il Padre conosce me e io conosco il Padre. Io do la mia vita per le pecore.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.	16 Ed ho altre pecore che non sono di questo ovile. Anch'esse io devo guidare, ascolteranno la mia voce e saranno un solo gregge, un solo pastore.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.	17 Per questo il Padre mi ama, perché io do la mia vita per riprenderla di nuovo.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.	18 Nessuno me la toglie, ma io la do da me stesso. Ho il potere di darla e ho il potere di riprenderla. Questo è il comando che ho ricevuto dal Padre mio".
19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.	19 Ci fu nuova divisione fra i Giudei a causa di queste parole.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?	20 Molti di essi dicevano: "Ha un demonio e delira. Perché lo ascoltate?".
21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?	21 Altri dicevano: "Queste parole non sono di un indemoniato. Un demonio può forse aprire gli occhi ai ciechi?".
22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.	22 A Gerusalemme ricorreva allora la festa della Dedicazione. Era inverno
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.	23 e Gesù passeggiava nel tempio, sotto il portico di Salomone.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.	24 Lo circondarono i Giudei e gli dicevano: "Fino a quando ci tieni con l'animo sospeso? Se sei il Cristo, diccelo apertamente".
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.	25 Rispose loro Gesù: "Ve l'ho detto e non credete. Le opere che faccio in nome del Padre mio, esse mi rendono testimonianza.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.	26 Ma voi non credete, perché non siete delle mie pecore.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:	27 Le mie pecore ascoltano la mia voce e io le conosco e mi seguono.
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.	28 Io do loro la vita eterna e non periranno mai; e nessuno le strapperà dalla mia mano.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.	29 Il Padre mio che me le ha date è più grande di tutti e nessuno le può strappare dalla mano del Padre.
30 I and my Father are one.	30 Io e il Padre siamo uno".
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.	31 I Giudei raccolsero di nuovo delle pietre per lapidarlo.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?	32 Gesù rispose loro: "Vi ho mostrato molte opere buone da parte del Padre. Per quale di queste opere mi lapidate?".
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.	33 Gli risposero i Giudei: "Non ti lapidiamo per un'opera buona, ma per una bestemmia: perché tu che sei uomo, ti fai Dio".
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?	34 Rispose loro Gesù: "Non è scritto nella vostra legge: Io ho detto: siete dèi?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;	35 Se ha detto dèi coloro cui fu rivolta la parola di Dio, e la Scrittura non si può abolire,
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?	36 a colui che il Padre ha santificato e ha mandato nel mondo voi dite: "Tu bestemmi", perché ho detto: "Io sono Figlio di Dio"?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.	37 Se non faccio le opere del Padre mio, non credetemi.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.	38 Ma se le faccio, anche se non credete a me, credete alle opere, così che conosciate e cominciate a comprendere che il Padre è in me ed io nel Padre".
39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,	39 Tentarono nuovamente di arrestarlo, ma egli sfuggì dalle loro mani.
40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.	40 Poi andò di nuovo di là del Giordano, nel luogo in cui dapprima Giovanni aveva battezzato, e vi rimase.
41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.	41 Molti vennero a lui e dicevano: "Giovanni non ha fatto nessun segno; ma tutto ciò che egli disse di costui era vero".
42 And many believed on him there.	42 E là molti credettero in lui.
