Der erste Brief des Petrus 4

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Da Christus im Fleisch gelitten hat, wappnet auch ihr euch mit diesem Gedanken: Wer im Fleisch gelitten hat, für den hat die Sünde ein Ende.	1 As Christ has undergone bodily suffering, you too should arm yourselves with the same conviction, thatanyone who has undergone bodily suffering has broken with sin,
2 Darum richtet euch, solange ihr noch auf Erden lebt, nicht mehr nach den menschlichen Begierden, sondern nach dem Willen Gottes!	2 because for the rest of life on earth that person is ruled not by human passions but only by the wil ofGod.
3 Denn lange genug habt ihr in der vergangenen Zeit das heidnische Treiben mitgemacht und habt ein ausschweifendes Leben voller Begierden geführt, habt getrunken, geprasst, gezecht und unerlaubten Götzenkult getrieben.	3 You spent quite long enough in the past living the sort of life that gentiles choose to live, behaving in adebauched way, giving way to your passions, drinking to excess, having wild parties and drunken orgies andsacrilegiously worshipping false gods.
4 Jetzt erregt es ihren Unwillen und sie lästern, weil ihr euch nicht mehr in diesen Strudel der Leidenschaften hineinreißen lasst.	4 So people are taken aback that you no longer hurry off with them to join this flood which is rushingdown to ruin, and then abuse you for it.
5 Aber sie werden vor dem Rechenschaft ablegen müssen, der schon bereitsteht, um die Lebenden und die Toten zu richten.	5 They wil have to answer for it before the judge who is to judge the living and the dead.
6 Denn auch Toten ist das Evangelium dazu verkündet worden, dass sie wie Menschen gerichtet werden im Fleisch, aber wie Gott das Leben haben im Geist.	6 And this was why the gospel was brought to the dead as wel , so that, though in their bodies they hadundergone the judgement that faces al humanity, in their spirit they might enjoy the life of God.
7 Das Ende aller Dinge ist nahe. Seid also besonnen und nüchtern und betet!	7 The end of all things is near, so keep your minds calm and sober for prayer.
8 Vor allem haltet fest an der Liebe zueinander; denn die Liebe deckt viele Sünden zu.	8 Above al preserve an intense love for each other, since love covers over many a sin.
9 Seid untereinander gastfreundlich, ohne zu murren.	9 Welcome each other into your houses without grumbling.
10 Dient einander als gute Verwalter der vielfältigen Gnade Gottes, jeder mit der Gabe, die er empfangen hat.	10 Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these variedgraces of God, put it at the service of others.
11 Wer redet, der rede mit den Worten, die Gott ihm gibt; wer dient, der diene aus der Kraft, die Gott verleiht. So wird in allem Gott verherrlicht durch Jesus Christus. Sein ist die Herrlichkeit und die Macht in alle Ewigkeit. Amen.	11 If anyone is a speaker, let it be as the words of God, if anyone serves, let it be as in strength grantedby God; so that in everything God may receive the glory, through Jesus Christ, since to him alone belong alglory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Liebe Brüder, lasst euch durch die Feuersglut, die zu eurer Prüfung über euch gekommen ist, nicht verwirren, als ob euch etwas Ungewöhnliches zustoße.	12 My dear friends, do not be taken aback at the testing by fire which is taking place among you, asthough something strange were happening to you;
13 Stattdessen freut euch, dass ihr Anteil an den Leiden Christi habt; denn so könnt ihr auch bei der Offenbarung seiner Herrlichkeit voll Freude jubeln.	13 but in so far as you share in the sufferings of Christ, be glad, so that you may enjoy a much greatergladness when his glory is revealed.
14 Wenn ihr wegen des Namens Christi beschimpft werdet, seid ihr selig zu preisen; denn der Geist der Herrlichkeit, der Geist Gottes, ruht auf euch.	14 If you are insulted for bearing Christ's name, blessed are you, for on you rests the Spirit of God, theSpirit of glory.
15 Wenn einer von euch leiden muss, soll es nicht deswegen sein, weil er ein Mörder oder ein Dieb ist, weil er Böses tut oder sich in fremde Angelegenheiten einmischt.	15 None of you should ever deserve to suffer for being a murderer, a thief, a criminal or an informer;
16 Wenn er aber leidet, weil er Christ ist, dann soll er sich nicht schämen, sondern Gott verherrlichen, indem er sich zu diesem Namen bekennt.	16 but if any one of you should suffer for being a Christian, then there must be no shame but thanksgiving to God for bearing this name.
17 Denn jetzt ist die Zeit, in der das Gericht beim Haus Gottes beginnt; wenn es aber bei uns anfängt, wie wird dann das Ende derer sein, die dem Evangelium Gottes nicht gehorchen?	17 The time has come for the judgement to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, whatwil be the end for those who refuse to believe God's gospel?
18 Und wenn der Gerechte kaum gerettet wird, wo wird man dann die Frevler und Sünder finden?	18 If it is hard for the upright to be saved, what wil happen to the wicked and to sinners?
19 Darum sollen alle, die nach dem Willen Gottes leiden müssen, Gutes tun und dadurch ihr Leben dem treuen Schöpfer anbefehlen.	19 So even those whom God allows to suffer should commit themselves to a Creator who is trustworthy,and go on doing good.
