Josua 4

1 Als das ganze Volk den Jordan durchschritten hatte, sagte der Herr zu Josua:	1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
2 Wählt aus dem Volk zwölf Männer aus, aus jedem Stamm einen,	2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
3 und befehlt ihnen: Hebt hier, an der Stelle mitten im Jordan, wo die Priester fest und sicher standen, zwölf Steine auf, nehmt sie mit hinüber und legt sie an dem Ort nieder, an dem ihr die nächste Nacht verbringt.	3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Da rief Josua die zwölf Männer, die er aus den Israeliten bestimmt hatte, aus jedem Stamm einen,	4 Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
5 und sagte zu ihnen: Geht vor der Lade des Herrn, eures Gottes, her bis zur Mitte des Jordan; dort soll jeder von euch einen Stein auf seine Schulter heben, so viele Steine, wie es Stämme der Israeliten gibt.	5 And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6 Sie sollen unter euch ein Zeichen sein. Wenn euch eure Söhne morgen fragen: Was bedeuten diese Steine für euch?,	6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 dann antwortet ihnen: (Sie bedeuten,) dass die Fluten des Jordan vor der Bundeslade des Herrn wie abgeschnitten waren; als sie durch den Jordan zog, waren die Fluten des Jordan wie abgeschnitten. So sind diese Steine ein ewiges Erinnerungszeichen für die Israeliten.	7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8 Die Israeliten taten, was Josua befohlen hatte, und nahmen zwölf Steine mitten aus dem Jordan, so viele, wie es Stämme der Israeliten gab, wie es der Herr dem Josua befohlen hatte. Sie nahmen sie mit hinüber zu ihrem Rastplatz und stellten sie dort auf.	8 And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9 Und in der Mitte des Jordan richtete Josua zwölf Steine auf, dort, wo die Priester gestanden hatten, die die Bundeslade trugen; sie stehen dort bis zum heutigen Tag.	9 And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10 Die Priester aber, die die Lade trugen, blieben mitten im Jordan stehen, bis alles geschehen war, was der Herr durch Josua dem Volk befohlen hatte [ganz so, wie Mose dem Josua befohlen hatte], und das Volk beeilte sich und zog hinüber.	10 For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
11 Als das ganze Volk vollständig hinübergezogen war, zog auch die Lade des Herrn hinüber und die Priester (gingen wieder) dem Volk voraus.	11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12 Die Rubeniter, die Gaditer und der halbe Stamm Manasse zogen kampfbereit vor den Israeliten her, wie es ihnen Mose befohlen hatte.	12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
13 Es waren etwa vierzigtausend bewaffnete Männer, die vor den Augen des Herrn zum Kampf in die Steppen von Jericho zogen.	13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14 An jenem Tag machte der Herr den Josua in den Augen ganz Israels groß und man hatte Ehrfurcht vor ihm, wie man vor Mose zeit seines Lebens Ehrfurcht hatte.	14 On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15 Da sagte der Herr zu Josua:	15 And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
16 Befiehl den Priestern, die die Lade der Bundesurkunde tragen, aus dem Jordan heraufzusteigen.	16 Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
17 Da befahl Josua den Priestern: Steigt aus dem Jordan herauf!	17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
18 Als nun die Priester, die die Bundeslade des Herrn trugen, aus der Mitte des Jordan heraufstiegen und ihre Füße das Ufer berührten, da kehrte das Wasser des Jordan an seinen Ort zurück und trat wie zuvor wieder über alle Ufer.	18 And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
19 Das Volk zog am zehnten Tag des ersten Monats durch den Jordan und schlug in Gilgal, am Ostrand des Gebietes von Jericho, sein Lager auf.	19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
20 In Gilgal stellte Josua die zwölf Steine auf, die man aus dem Jordan mitgenommen hatte.	20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
21 Er sagte zu den Israeliten: Wenn eure Söhne morgen ihre Väter fragen: Was bedeuten diese Steine?,	21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
22 dann sollt ihr sie belehren: Hier hat Israel trockenen Fußes den Jordan durchschritten;	22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23 denn der Herr, euer Gott, hat das Wasser des Jordan vor euren Augen austrocknen lassen, bis ihr hindurchgezogen wart, genau so wie es Jahwe, euer Gott, mit dem Schilfmeer machte, das er vor unseren Augen austrocknen ließ, bis wir hindurchgezogen waren.	23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
24 Daran sollen alle Völker der Erde erkennen, dass die Hand des Herrn stark ist, und ihr sollt allezeit Jahwe, euren Gott, fürchten.	24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
