Der zweite Brief an die Korinther 7

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Das sind die Verheißungen, die wir haben, liebe Brüder. Reinigen wir uns also von aller Unreinheit des Leibes und des Geistes und streben wir in Gottesfurcht nach vollkommener Heiligung.	1 Since these promises have been made to us, my dear friends, we should wash ourselves clean ofeverything that pol utes either body or spirit, bringing our sanctification to completion in the fear of God.
2 Gebt uns doch Raum in eurem Herzen! Niemand haben wir geschädigt, niemand zugrunde gerichtet, niemand übervorteilt.	2 Keep a place for us in your hearts. We have not injured anyone, or ruined anyone, or taken advantageof anyone.
3 Ich sage das nicht, um euch zu verurteilen; denn eben habe ich gesagt, dass ihr in unserem Herzen wohnt, verbunden mit uns zum Leben und zum Sterben.	3 I am not saying this to condemn anybody; as I have already told you, you are in our hearts -- so thattogether we live and together we die.
4 Ich habe großes Vertrauen zu euch; ich bin sehr stolz auf euch. Trotz all unserer Not bin ich von Trost erfüllt und ströme über von Freude.	4 I can speak with the greatest frankness to you; and I can speak with the greatest pride about you: in alour hardship, I am fil ed with encouragement and overflowing with joy.
5 Als wir nach Mazedonien gekommen waren, fanden wir in unserer Schwachheit keine Ruhe. Überall bedrängten uns Schwierigkeiten: von außen Widerspruch und Anfeindung, im Innern Angst und Furcht.	5 Even after we had come to Macedonia, there was no rest for this body of ours. Far from it; we werebeset by hardship on al sides, there were quarrels all around us and misgivings within us.
6 Aber Gott, der die Niedergeschlagenen aufrichtet, hat auch uns aufgerichtet, und zwar durch die Ankunft des Titus -	6 But God, who encourages al those who are distressed, encouraged us through the arrival of Titus;
7 nicht nur durch seine Ankunft, sondern auch durch den Trost, den er bei euch erfahren hatte. Er erzählte uns von eurer Sehnsucht, eurer Klage, eurem Eifer für mich, sodass ich mich noch mehr freute.	7 and not simply by his arrival only, but also by means of the encouragement that you had given him, ashe told us of your desire to see us, how sorry you were and how concerned for us; so that I was al the morejoyful.
8 Dass ich euch aber mit meinem Brief traurig gemacht habe, tut mir nicht Leid. Wenn es mir auch eine Weile Leid tat - ich sehe ja, dass dieser Brief euch, wenn auch nur für kurze Zeit, traurig gemacht hat - :	8 So now, though I did distress you with my letter, I do not regret it. Even if I did regret it -- and I realisethat the letter distressed you, even though not for long-
9 jetzt freue ich mich, nicht weil ihr traurig geworden seid, sondern weil die Traurigkeit euch zur Sinnesänderung geführt hat. Denn es war eine gottgewollte Traurigkeit; so ist euch durch uns kein Nachteil erwachsen.	9 I am glad now, not because you were made to feel distress, but because the distress that you werecaused led to repentance; your distress was the kind that God approves and so you have come to no kind ofharm through us.
10 Die gottgewollte Traurigkeit verursacht nämlich Sinnesänderung zum Heil, die nicht bereut zu werden braucht; die weltliche Traurigkeit aber führt zum Tod.	10 For to be distressed in a way that God approves leads to repentance and then to salvation with noregrets; it is the world's kind of distress that ends in death.
11 Wie groß war doch der Eifer, zu dem euch diese gottgewollte Traurigkeit geführt hat, wie aufrichtig eure Entschuldigung, euer Unwille, eure Furcht, eure Sehnsucht, wie wirksam eure Anstrengung und am Ende die Bestrafung! In jeder Hinsicht hat es sich gezeigt, dass ihr in dieser Sache unschuldig seid.	11 Just look at this present case: at what the result has been of your being made to feel distress in theway that God approves -- what concern, what defence, what indignation and what alarm; what yearning, andwhat enthusiasm, and what justice done. In every way you have cleared yourselves of blame in this matter.
12 Wenn ich euch also geschrieben habe, so tat ich es nicht, um den zu treffen, der Unrecht getan hatte, auch nicht, um dem Recht zu verschaffen, der Unrecht erlitten hatte, sondern ich tat es, damit euer Eifer für uns sichtbar werde vor euch und vor Gott.	12 So although I wrote a letter to you, it was not for the sake of the offender, nor for the one offended, butonly so that you yourselves should fully realise in the sight of God what concern you have for us.
13 Deswegen sind wir jetzt getröstet. Wir wurden aber nicht nur getröstet, sondern darüber hinaus erfreut durch die Freude des Titus, dessen Geist neue Kraft gefunden hat durch euch alle.	13 That is what I have found encouraging. In addition to all this to encourage us, we were made al themore joyful by Titus' joy, now that his spirit has been refreshed by you al .
14 Wenn ich euch vor ihm gerühmt hatte, so brauchte ich mich jetzt nicht zu schämen. Im Gegenteil, unser Lob vor Titus erwies sich als volle Wahrheit, wie auch alles Wahrheit ist, was wir euch verkündigt haben.	14 And if I boasted about you to him in any way, then I have not been made to look foolish; indeed, ourboast to Titus has been proved to be as true as anything we said to you.
15 Er ist euch von Herzen zugetan, wenn er daran denkt, wie ihr euch alle gehorsam gezeigt und ihn mit Furcht und Zittern aufgenommen habt.	15 His personal affection for you is all the stronger when he remembers how obedient you have all been,and how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.
16 Ich freue mich, dass ich in jeder Hinsicht auf euch vertrauen kann.	16 I am glad that I have every confidence in you.
