1 Saulus wütete immer noch mit Drohung und Mord gegen die Jünger des Herrn. Er ging zum Hohenpriester	1 And Saul, as yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
2 und erbat sich von ihm Briefe an die Synagogen in Damaskus, um die Anhänger des (neuen) Weges, Männer und Frauen, die er dort finde, zu fesseln und nach Jerusalem zu bringen.	2 And asked of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any men and wemen of this way, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 Unterwegs aber, als er sich bereits Damaskus näherte, geschah es, dass ihn plötzlich ein Licht vom Himmel umstrahlte.	3 And as he went on his journey, it came to pass that he drew nigh to Damascus; and suddenly a light from heaven shined round about him.
4 Er stürzte zu Boden und hörte, wie eine Stimme zu ihm sagte: Saul, Saul, warum verfolgst du mich?	4 And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 Er antwortete: Wer bist du, Herr? Dieser sagte: Ich bin Jesus, den du verfolgst.	5 Who said: Who art thou, Lord? And he: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.
6 Steh auf und geh in die Stadt; dort wird dir gesagt werden, was du tun sollst.	6 And he trembling and astonished, said: Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?
7 Seine Begleiter standen sprachlos da; sie hörten zwar die Stimme, sahen aber niemand.	7 And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the city, and there it shall be told thee what thou must do. Now the men who went in company with him, stood amazed, hearing indeed a voice, but seeing no man.
8 Saulus erhob sich vom Boden. Als er aber die Augen öffnete, sah er nichts. Sie nahmen ihn bei der Hand und führten ihn nach Damaskus hinein.	8 And Saul arose from the ground; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. But they leading him by the hands, brought him to Damascus.
9 Und er war drei Tage blind und er aß nicht und trank nicht.	9 And he was there three days, without sight, and he did neither eat nor drink.
10 In Damaskus lebte ein Jünger namens Hananias. Zu ihm sagte der Herr in einer Vision: Hananias! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich, Herr.	10 Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision: Ananias. And he said: Behold I am here, Lord.
11 Der Herr sagte zu ihm: Steh auf und geh zur sogenannten Geraden Straße und frag im Haus des Judas nach einem Mann namens Saulus aus Tarsus. Er betet gerade	11 And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the street that is called Stait, and seek in the house of Judas, one named Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth.
12 und hat in einer Vision gesehen, wie ein Mann namens Hananias hereinkommt und ihm die Hände auflegt, damit er wieder sieht.	12 (And he saw a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hands upon him, that he might receive his sight.)
13 Hananias antwortete: Herr, ich habe von vielen gehört, wie viel Böses dieser Mann deinen Heiligen in Jerusalem angetan hat.	13 But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem.
14 Auch hier hat er Vollmacht von den Hohenpriestern, alle zu verhaften, die deinen Namen anrufen.	14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.
15 Der Herr aber sprach zu ihm: Geh nur! Denn dieser Mann ist mein auserwähltes Werkzeug: Er soll meinen Namen vor Völker und Könige und die Söhne Israels tragen.	15 And the Lord said to him: Go thy way; for this man is to me a vessel of election, to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.
16 Ich werde ihm auch zeigen, wie viel er für meinen Namen leiden muss.	16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
17 Da ging Hananias hin und trat in das Haus ein; er legte Saulus die Hände auf und sagte: Bruder Saul, der Herr hat mich gesandt, Jesus, der dir auf dem Weg hierher erschienen ist; du sollst wieder sehen und mit dem Heiligen Geist erfüllt werden.	17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house. And laying his hands upon him, he said: Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus hath sent me, he that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest; that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 Sofort fiel es wie Schuppen von seinen Augen und er sah wieder; er stand auf und ließ sich taufen.	18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and rising up, he was baptized.
19 Und nachdem er etwas gegessen hatte, kam er wieder zu Kräften. Einige Tage blieb er bei den Jüngern in Damaskus;	19 And when he had taken meat, he was strengthened. And he was with the disciples that were at Damascus, for some days.
20 und sogleich verkündete er Jesus in den Synagogen und sagte: Er ist der Sohn Gottes.	20 And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
21 Alle, die es hörten, gerieten in Aufregung und sagten: Ist das nicht der Mann, der in Jerusalem alle vernichten wollte, die diesen Namen anrufen? Und ist er nicht auch hierher gekommen, um sie zu fesseln und vor die Hohenpriester zu führen?	21 And all that heard him, were astonished, and said: Is not this he who persecuted in Jerusalem those that called upon this name: and came hither for that intent, that he might carry them bound to the chief priests?
22 Saulus aber trat um so kraftvoller auf und brachte die Juden in Damaskus in Verwirrung, weil er ihnen bewies, dass Jesus der Messias ist.	22 But Saul increased much more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ.
23 So verging einige Zeit; da beschlossen die Juden, ihn zu töten.	23 And when many days were passed, the Jews consulted together to kill him.
24 Doch ihr Plan wurde dem Saulus bekannt. Sie bewachten sogar Tag und Nacht die Stadttore, um ihn zu beseitigen.	24 But their laying in wait was made known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night, that they might kill him.
25 Aber seine Jünger nahmen ihn und ließen ihn bei Nacht in einem Korb die Stadtmauer hinab.	25 But the disciples taking him in the night, conveyed him away by the wall, letting him down in a basket.
26 Als er nach Jerusalem kam, versuchte er, sich den Jüngern anzuschließen. Aber alle fürchteten sich vor ihm und konnten nicht glauben, dass er ein Jünger war.	26 And when he was come into Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples; and they all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
27 Barnabas jedoch nahm sich seiner an und brachte ihn zu den Aposteln. Er erzählte ihnen, wie Saulus auf dem Weg den Herrn gesehen habe und dass dieser mit ihm gesprochen habe und wie er in Damaskus mutig und offen im Namen Jesu aufgetreten sei.	27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and told them how he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken to him; and how in Damascus he had dealt confidently in the name of Jesus.
28 So ging er bei ihnen in Jerusalem ein und aus, trat unerschrocken im Namen des Herrn auf	28 And he was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, and dealing confidently in the name of the Lord.
29 und führte auch Streitgespräche mit den Hellenisten. Diese aber planten, ihn zu töten.	29 He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him.
30 Als die Brüder das merkten, brachten sie ihn nach Cäsarea hinab und schickten ihn von dort nach Tarsus.	30 Which when the brethren had known, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus.
31 Die Kirche in ganz Judäa, Galiläa und Samarien hatte nun Frieden; sie wurde gefestigt und lebte in der Furcht vor dem Herrn. Und sie wuchs durch die Hilfe des Heiligen Geistes.	31 Now the church had peace throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria; and was edified, walking in the fear of the Lord, and was filled with the consolation of the Holy Ghost.
32 Auf einer Reise zu den einzelnen Gemeinden kam Petrus auch zu den Heiligen in Lydda.	32 And it came to pass that Peter, as he passed through, visiting all, came to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.
33 Dort fand er einen Mann namens Äneas, der seit acht Jahren lahm und bettlägerig war.	33 And he found there a certain man named Eneas, who had kept his bed for eight years, who was ill of the palsy.
34 Petrus sagte zu ihm: Äneas, Jesus Christus heilt dich. Steh auf und richte dir dein Bett! Sogleich stand er auf.	34 And Peter said to him: Eneas, the Lord Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And immediately he arose.
35 Und alle Bewohner von Lydda und der Scharon-Ebene sahen ihn und bekehrten sich zum Herrn.	35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron, saw him: who were converted to the Lord.
36 In Joppe lebte eine Jüngerin namens Tabita, das heißt übersetzt: Gazelle. Sie tat viele gute Werke und gab reichlich Almosen.	36 And in Joppe there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
37 In jenen Tagen aber wurde sie krank und starb. Man wusch sie und bahrte sie im Obergemach auf.	37 And it came to pass in those days that she was sick, and died. Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 Weil aber Lydda nahe bei Joppe liegt und die Jünger hörten, dass Petrus dort war, schickten sie zwei Männer zu ihm und ließen ihn bitten: Komm zu uns, zögere nicht!	38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppe, the disciples hearing that Peter was there, sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not be slack to come unto them.
39 Da stand Petrus auf und ging mit ihnen. Als er ankam, führten sie ihn in das Obergemach hinauf; alle Witwen traten zu ihm, sie weinten und zeigten ihm die Röcke und Mäntel, die Gazelle gemacht hatte, als sie noch bei ihnen war.	39 And Peter rising up, went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber. And all the widows stood about him weeping, and shewing him the coats and garments which Dorcas made them.
40 Petrus aber schickte alle hinaus, kniete nieder und betete. Dann wandte er sich zu dem Leichnam und sagte: Tabita, steh auf! Da öffnete sie ihre Augen, sah Petrus an und setzte sich auf.	40 And they all being put forth, Peter kneeling down prayed, and turning to the body, he said: Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.
41 Er gab ihr die Hand und ließ sie aufstehen; dann rief er die Heiligen und die Witwen und zeigte ihnen, dass sie wieder lebte.	41 And giving her his hand, he lifted her up. And when he had called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.
42 Das wurde in ganz Joppe bekannt und viele kamen zum Glauben an den Herrn.	42 And it was made known throughout all Joppe; and many believed in the Lord.
43 Petrus aber blieb längere Zeit in Joppe bei einem gewissen Simon, einem Gerber.	43 And it came to pass, that he abode many days in Joppe, with one Simon a tanner.
