1 Um jene Zeit ließ der König Herodes einige aus der Gemeinde verhaften und misshandeln.	1 Now at the same time, king Herod extended his hand, in order to afflict some from the Church.
2 Jakobus, den Bruder des Johannes, ließ er mit dem Schwert hinrichten.	2 Then he killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.
3 Als er sah, dass es den Juden gefiel, ließ er auch Petrus festnehmen. Das geschah in den Tagen der Ungesäuerten Brote.	3 And seeing that it pleased the Jews, he set out next to apprehend Peter also. Now it was the days of Unleavened Bread.
4 Er nahm ihn also fest und warf ihn ins Gefängnis. Die Bewachung übertrug er vier Abteilungen von je vier Soldaten. Er beabsichtigte, ihn nach dem Paschafest dem Volk vorführen zu lassen.	4 So when he had apprehended him, he sent him into prison, handing him over into the custody of four groups of four soldiers, intending to produce him to the people after the Passover.
5 Petrus wurde also im Gefängnis bewacht. Die Gemeinde aber betete inständig für ihn zu Gott.	5 And so Peter was detained in prison. But prayers were being made without ceasing, by the Church, to God on his behalf.
6 In der Nacht, ehe Herodes ihn vorführen lassen wollte, schlief Petrus, mit zwei Ketten gefesselt, zwischen zwei Soldaten; vor der Tür aber bewachten Posten den Kerker.	6 And when Herod was ready to produce him, in that same night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, and was bound with two chains. And there were guards in front of the door, guarding the prison.
7 Plötzlich trat ein Engel des Herrn ein und ein helles Licht strahlte in den Raum. Er stieß Petrus in die Seite, weckte ihn und sagte: Schnell, steh auf! Da fielen die Ketten von seinen Händen.	7 And behold, an Angel of the Lord stood near, and a light shined forth in the cell. And tapping Peter on the side, he awakened him, saying, “Rise up, quickly.” And the chains fell from his hands.
8 Der Engel aber sagte zu ihm: Gürte dich und zieh deine Sandalen an! Er tat es. Und der Engel sagte zu ihm: Wirf deinen Mantel um und folge mir!	8 Then the Angel said to him: “Dress yourself, and put on your boots.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your garment around yourself and follow me.”
9 Dann ging er hinaus und Petrus folgte ihm, ohne zu wissen, dass es Wirklichkeit war, was durch den Engel geschah; es kam ihm vor, als habe er eine Vision.	9 And going out, he followed him. And he did not know this truth: that this was being done by an Angel. For he thought that he was seeing a vision.
10 Sie gingen an der ersten und an der zweiten Wache vorbei und kamen an das eiserne Tor, das in die Stadt führt; es öffnete sich ihnen von selbst. Sie traten hinaus und gingen eine Gasse weit; und auf einmal verließ ihn der Engel.	10 And passing by the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city; and it opened for them by itself. And departing, they continued on along a certain side street. And suddenly the Angel withdrew from him.
11 Da kam Petrus zu sich und sagte: Nun weiß ich wahrhaftig, dass der Herr seinen Engel gesandt und mich der Hand des Herodes entrissen hat und all dem, was das Volk der Juden erhofft hat.	11 And Peter, returning to himself, said: “Now I know, truly, that the Lord sent his Angel, and that he rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the people of the Jews were anticipating.”
12 Als er sich darüber klar geworden war, ging er zum Haus der Maria, der Mutter des Johannes mit dem Beinamen Markus, wo nicht wenige versammelt waren und beteten.	12 And as he was considering this, he arrived at the house of Mary, the mother of John, who was surnamed Mark, where many were gathered and were praying.
13 Als er am Außentor klopfte, kam eine Magd namens Rhode, um zu öffnen.	13 Then, as he knocked at the door of the gate, a girl went out to answer, whose name was Rhoda.
14 Sie erkannte die Stimme des Petrus, doch vor Freude machte sie das Tor nicht auf, sondern lief hinein und berichtete: Petrus steht vor dem Tor.	14 And when she recognized the voice of Peter, out of joy, she did not open the gate, but instead, running in, she reported that Peter stood before the gate.
15 Da sagten sie zu ihr: Du bist nicht bei Sinnen. Doch sie bestand darauf, es sei so. Da sagten sie: Es ist sein Engel.	15 But they said to her, “You are crazy.” But she reaffirmed that this was so. Then they were saying, “It is his angel.”
16 Petrus aber klopfte noch immer. Als sie öffneten und ihn sahen, staunten sie.	16 But Peter was persevering in knocking. And when they had opened, they saw him and were astonished.
17 Er gab ihnen mit der Hand ein Zeichen zu schweigen und erzählte ihnen, wie der Herr ihn aus dem Gefängnis herausgeführt hatte. Er sagte: Berichtet das dem Jakobus und den Brüdern! Dann verließ er sie und ging an einen anderen Ort.	17 But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he explained how the Lord had led him away from prison. And he said, “Inform James and those brothers.” And going out, he went away to another place.
18 Als es Tag wurde, herrschte bei den Soldaten große Aufregung darüber, was wohl mit Petrus geschehen sei.	18 Then, when daylight came, there was no small commotion among the soldiers, as to what had happened concerning Peter.
19 aHerodes aber ließ ihn suchen, und da man ihn nicht fand, verhörte er die Wachen und befahl, sie abzuführen. Dann zog Herodes von Judäa nach Cäsarea hinab und blieb dort.	19 And when Herod had requested him and did not obtain him, having had the guards interrogated, he ordered them led away. And descending from Judea into Caesarea, he lodged there.
20 Er war über die Bewohner von Tyrus und Sidon sehr aufgebracht. Sie kamen gemeinsam zu ihm, gewannen Blastus, den Kämmerer des Königs, für sich und baten um Frieden, weil sie ihre Nahrung aus dem Land des Königs bezogen.	20 Now he was angry with those of Tyre and Sidon. But they came to him with one accord, and, having persuaded Blastus, who was over the bedchamber of the king, they petitioned for peace, because their regions were supplied with food by him.
21 Am festgesetzten Tag nahm Herodes im Königsgewand auf der Tribüne Platz und hielt vor ihnen eine feierliche Ansprache.	21 Then, on the appointed day, Herod was clothed in kingly apparel, and he sat in the judgment seat, and he gave a speech to them.
22 Das Volk aber schrie: Die Stimme eines Gottes, nicht eines Menschen!	22 Then the people were crying out, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”
23 Im selben Augenblick schlug ihn ein Engel des Herrn, weil er nicht Gott die Ehre gegeben hatte. Und von Würmern zerfressen, starb er.	23 And immediately, an Angel of the Lord struck him down, because he had not given honor to God. And having been consumed by worms, he expired.
24 Das Wort des Herrn aber wuchs und breitete sich aus.	24 But the word of the Lord was increasing and multiplying.
25 Nachdem Barnabas und Saulus in Jerusalem ihre Aufgabe erfüllt hatten, kehrten sie zurück; Johannes mit dem Beinamen Markus nahmen sie mit.	25 Then Barnabas and Saul, having completed the ministry, returned from Jerusalem, bringing with them John, who was surnamed Mark.
