1 Jesus aber ging zum Ölberg.	1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 Am frühen Morgen begab er sich wieder in den Tempel. Alles Volk kam zu ihm. Er setzte sich und lehrte es.	2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 Da brachten die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer eine Frau, die beim Ehebruch ertappt worden war. Sie stellten sie in die Mitte	3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 und sagten zu ihm: Meister, diese Frau wurde beim Ehebruch auf frischer Tat ertappt.	4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Mose hat uns im Gesetz vorgeschrieben, solche Frauen zu steinigen. Nun, was sagst du?	5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 Mit dieser Frage wollten sie ihn auf die Probe stellen, um einen Grund zu haben, ihn zu verklagen. Jesus aber bückte sich und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde.	6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 Als sie hartnäckig weiterfragten, richtete er sich auf und sagte zu ihnen: Wer von euch ohne Sünde ist, werfe als Erster einen Stein auf sie.	7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 Und er bückte sich wieder und schrieb auf die Erde.	8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 Als sie seine Antwort gehört hatten, ging einer nach dem anderen fort, zuerst die Ältesten. Jesus blieb allein zurück mit der Frau, die noch in der Mitte stand.	9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 Er richtete sich auf und sagte zu ihr: Frau, wo sind sie geblieben? Hat dich keiner verurteilt?	10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 Sie antwortete: Keiner, Herr. Da sagte Jesus zu ihr: Auch ich verurteile dich nicht. Geh und sündige von jetzt an nicht mehr!]	11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12 Als Jesus ein andermal zu ihnen redete, sagte er: Ich bin das Licht der Welt. Wer mir nachfolgt, wird nicht in der Finsternis umhergehen, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.	12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 Da sagten die Pharisäer zu ihm: Du legst über dich selbst Zeugnis ab; dein Zeugnis ist nicht gültig.	13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14 Jesus erwiderte ihnen: Auch wenn ich über mich selbst Zeugnis ablege, ist mein Zeugnis gültig. Denn ich weiß, woher ich gekommen bin und wohin ich gehe. Ihr aber wisst nicht, woher ich komme und wohin ich gehe.	14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Ihr urteilt, wie Menschen urteilen, ich urteile über keinen.	15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 Wenn ich aber urteile, ist mein Urteil gültig; denn ich urteile nicht allein, sondern ich und der Vater, der mich gesandt hat.	16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 Auch in eurem Gesetz heißt es: Erst das Zeugnis von zwei Menschen ist gültig.	17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 Ich bin es, der über mich Zeugnis ablegt, und auch der Vater, der mich gesandt hat, legt über mich Zeugnis ab.	18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19 Da fragten sie ihn: Wo ist dein Vater? Jesus antwortete: Ihr kennt weder mich noch meinen Vater; würdet ihr mich kennen, dann würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen.	19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
20 Diese Worte sagte er, als er im Tempel bei der Schatzkammer lehrte. Aber niemand nahm ihn fest; denn seine Stunde war noch nicht gekommen.	20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21 Ein andermal sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Ich gehe fort und ihr werdet mich suchen und ihr werdet in eurer Sünde sterben. Wohin ich gehe, dorthin könnt ihr nicht gelangen.	21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22 Da sagten die Juden: Will er sich etwa umbringen? Warum sagt er sonst: Wohin ich gehe, dorthin könnt ihr nicht gelangen?	22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23 Er sagte zu ihnen: Ihr stammt von unten, ich stamme von oben; ihr seid aus dieser Welt, ich bin nicht aus dieser Welt.	23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 Ich habe euch gesagt: Ihr werdet in euren Sünden sterben; denn wenn ihr nicht glaubt, dass ich es bin, werdet ihr in euren Sünden sterben.	24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Da fragten sie ihn: Wer bist du denn? Jesus antwortete: Warum rede ich überhaupt noch mit euch?	25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 Ich hätte noch viel über euch zu sagen und viel zu richten, aber er, der mich gesandt hat, bürgt für die Wahrheit, und was ich von ihm gehört habe, das sage ich der Welt.	26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 Sie verstanden nicht, dass er damit den Vater meinte.	27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Wenn ihr den Menschensohn erhöht habt, dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass Ich es bin. Ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich nichts im eigenen Namen tue, sondern nur das sage, was mich der Vater gelehrt hat.	28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 Und er, der mich gesandt hat, ist bei mir; er hat mich nicht allein gelassen, weil ich immer das tue, was ihm gefällt.	29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 Als Jesus das sagte, kamen viele zum Glauben an ihn.	30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Da sagte er zu den Juden, die an ihn glaubten: Wenn ihr in meinem Wort bleibt, seid ihr wirklich meine Jünger.	31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 Dann werdet ihr die Wahrheit erkennen und die Wahrheit wird euch befreien.	32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 Sie erwiderten ihm: Wir sind Nachkommen Abrahams und sind noch nie Sklaven gewesen. Wie kannst du sagen: Ihr werdet frei werden?	33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Amen, amen, das sage ich euch: Wer die Sünde tut, ist Sklave der Sünde.	34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 Der Sklave aber bleibt nicht für immer im Haus; nur der Sohn bleibt für immer im Haus.	35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 Wenn euch also der Sohn befreit, dann seid ihr wirklich frei.	36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 Ich weiß, dass ihr Nachkommen Abrahams seid. Aber ihr wollt mich töten, weil mein Wort in euch keine Aufnahme findet.	37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38 Ich sage, was ich beim Vater gesehen habe, und ihr tut, was ihr von eurem Vater gehört habt.	38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39 Sie antworteten ihm: Unser Vater ist Abraham. Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Wenn ihr Kinder Abrahams wärt, würdet ihr so handeln wie Abraham.	39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 Jetzt aber wollt ihr mich töten, einen Menschen, der euch die Wahrheit verkündet hat, die Wahrheit, die ich von Gott gehört habe. So hat Abraham nicht gehandelt.	40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ihr vollbringt die Werke eures Vaters. Sie entgegneten ihm: Wir stammen nicht aus einem Ehebruch, sondern wir haben nur den einen Vater: Gott.	41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Wenn Gott euer Vater wäre, würdet ihr mich lieben; denn von Gott bin ich ausgegangen und gekommen. Ich bin nicht in meinem eigenen Namen gekommen, sondern er hat mich gesandt.	42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Warum versteht ihr nicht, was ich sage? Weil ihr nicht imstande seid, mein Wort zu hören.	43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ihr habt den Teufel zum Vater und ihr wollt das tun, wonach es euren Vater verlangt. Er war ein Mörder von Anfang an. Und er steht nicht in der Wahrheit; denn es ist keine Wahrheit in ihm. Wenn er lügt, sagt er das, was aus ihm selbst kommt; denn er ist ein Lügner und ist der Vater der Lüge.	44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 Mir aber glaubt ihr nicht, weil ich die Wahrheit sage.	45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Wer von euch kann mir eine Sünde nachweisen? Wenn ich die Wahrheit sage, warum glaubt ihr mir nicht?	46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 Wer aus Gott ist, hört die Worte Gottes; ihr hört sie deshalb nicht, weil ihr nicht aus Gott seid.	47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
48 Da antworteten ihm die Juden: Sagen wir nicht mit Recht: Du bist ein Samariter und von einem Dämon besessen?	48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 Jesus erwiderte: Ich bin von keinem Dämon besessen, sondern ich ehre meinen Vater; ihr aber schmäht mich.	49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
50 Ich bin nicht auf meine Ehre bedacht; doch es gibt einen, der darauf bedacht ist und der richtet.	50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51 Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Wenn jemand an meinem Wort festhält, wird er auf ewig den Tod nicht schauen.	51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52 Da sagten die Juden zu ihm: Jetzt wissen wir, dass du von einem Dämon besessen bist. Abraham und die Propheten sind gestorben, du aber sagst: Wenn jemand an meinem Wort festhält, wird er auf ewig den Tod nicht erleiden.	52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53 Bist du etwa größer als unser Vater Abraham? Er ist gestorben und die Propheten sind gestorben. Für wen gibst du dich aus?	53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54 Jesus antwortete: Wenn ich mich selbst ehre, so gilt meine Ehre nichts. Mein Vater ist es, der mich ehrt, er, von dem ihr sagt: Er ist unser Gott.	54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Doch ihr habt ihn nicht erkannt. Ich aber kenne ihn, und wenn ich sagen würde: Ich kenne ihn nicht, so wäre ich ein Lügner wie ihr. Aber ich kenne ihn und halte an seinem Wort fest.	55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56 Euer Vater Abraham jubelte, weil er meinen Tag sehen sollte. Er sah ihn und freute sich.	56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Die Juden entgegneten: Du bist noch keine fünfzig Jahre alt und willst Abraham gesehen haben?	57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus erwiderte ihnen: Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Noch ehe Abraham wurde, bin ich.	58 Jesus said unto them, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 Da hoben sie Steine auf, um sie auf ihn zu werfen. Jesus aber verbarg sich und verließ den Tempel.	59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
