1 Am dritten Tag fand in Kana in Galiläa eine Hochzeit statt und die Mutter Jesu war dabei.	1 And on the third day, a wedding was held in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2 Auch Jesus und seine Jünger waren zur Hochzeit eingeladen.	2 Now Jesus was also invited to the wedding, with his disciples.
3 Als der Wein ausging, sagte die Mutter Jesu zu ihm: Sie haben keinen Wein mehr.	3 And when the wine was failing, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus erwiderte ihr: Was willst du von mir, Frau? Meine Stunde ist noch nicht gekommen.	4 And Jesus said to her: “What is that to me and to you, woman? My hour has not yet arrived.”
5 Seine Mutter sagte zu den Dienern: Was er euch sagt, das tut!	5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Es standen dort sechs steinerne Wasserkrüge, wie es der Reinigungsvorschrift der Juden entsprach; jeder fasste ungefähr hundert Liter.	6 Now in that place, there were six stone water jars, for the purification ritual of the Jews, containing two or three measures each.
7 Jesus sagte zu den Dienern: Füllt die Krüge mit Wasser! Und sie füllten sie bis zum Rand.	7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the water jars with water.” And they filled them to the very top.
8 Er sagte zu ihnen: Schöpft jetzt und bringt es dem, der für das Festmahl verantwortlich ist. Sie brachten es ihm.	8 And Jesus said to them, “Now draw from it, and carry it to the chief steward of the feast.” And they took it to him.
9 Er kostete das Wasser, das zu Wein geworden war. Er wusste nicht, woher der Wein kam; die Diener aber, die das Wasser geschöpft hatten, wussten es. Da ließ er den Bräutigam rufen	9 Then, when the chief steward had tasted the water made into wine, since he did not know where it was from, for only the servants who had drawn the water knew, the chief steward called the groom,
10 und sagte zu ihm: Jeder setzt zuerst den guten Wein vor und erst, wenn die Gäste zu viel getrunken haben, den weniger guten. Du jedoch hast den guten Wein bis jetzt zurückgehalten.	10 and he said to him: “Every man offers the good wine first, and then, when they have become inebriated, he offers what is worse. But you have kept the good wine until now.”
11 So tat Jesus sein erstes Zeichen, in Kana in Galiläa, und offenbarte seine Herrlichkeit und seine Jünger glaubten an ihn.	11 This was the beginning of the signs that Jesus accomplished in Cana of Galilee, and it manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
12 Danach zog er mit seiner Mutter, seinen Brüdern und seinen Jüngern nach Kafarnaum hinab. Dort blieben sie einige Zeit.	12 After this, he descended to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, but they did not remain there for many days.
13 Das Paschafest der Juden war nahe und Jesus zog nach Jerusalem hinauf.	13 And the Passover of the Jews was near, and so Jesus ascended to Jerusalem.
14 Im Tempel fand er die Verkäufer von Rindern, Schafen und Tauben und die Geldwechsler, die dort saßen.	14 And he found, sitting in the temple, sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers.
15 Er machte eine Geißel aus Stricken und trieb sie alle aus dem Tempel hinaus, dazu die Schafe und Rinder; das Geld der Wechsler schüttete er aus und ihre Tische stieß er um.	15 And when he had made something like a whip out of little cords, he drove them all out of the temple, including the sheep and the oxen. And he poured out the brass coins of the moneychangers, and he overturned their tables.
16 Zu den Taubenhändlern sagte er: Schafft das hier weg, macht das Haus meines Vaters nicht zu einer Markthalle!	16 And to those who were selling doves, he said: “Take these things out of here, and do not make my Father’s house into a house of commerce.”
17 Seine Jünger erinnerten sich an das Wort der Schrift: Der Eifer für dein Haus verzehrt mich.	17 And truly, his disciples were reminded that it is written: “Zeal for your house consumes me.”
18 Da stellten ihn die Juden zur Rede: Welches Zeichen lässt du uns sehen als Beweis, dass du dies tun darfst?	18 Then the Jews responded and said to him, “What sign can you show to us, that you may do these things?”
19 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Reißt diesen Tempel nieder, in drei Tagen werde ich ihn wieder aufrichten.	19 Jesus responded and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
20 Da sagten die Juden: Sechsundvierzig Jahre wurde an diesem Tempel gebaut und du willst ihn in drei Tagen wieder aufrichten?	20 Then the Jews said, “This temple has been built up over forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?”
21 Er aber meinte den Tempel seines Leibes.	21 Yet he was speaking about the Temple of his body.
22 Als er von den Toten auferstanden war, erinnerten sich seine Jünger, dass er dies gesagt hatte, und sie glaubten der Schrift und dem Wort, das Jesus gesprochen hatte.	22 Therefore, when he had resurrected from the dead, his disciples were reminded that he had said this, and they believed in the Scriptures and in the word that Jesus had spoken.
23 Während er zum Paschafest in Jerusalem war, kamen viele zum Glauben an seinen Namen, als sie die Zeichen sahen, die er tat.	23 Now while he was at Jerusalem during the Passover, on the day of the feast, many trusted in his name, seeing his signs that he was accomplishing.
24 Jesus aber vertraute sich ihnen nicht an, denn er kannte sie alle	24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he himself had knowledge of all persons,
25 und brauchte von keinem ein Zeugnis über den Menschen; denn er wusste, was im Menschen ist.	25 and because he had no need of anyone to offer testimony about a man. For he knew what was within a man.
