EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Euer Herz lasse sich nicht verwirren. Glaubt an Gott und glaubt an mich!	1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me.
2 Im Haus meines Vaters gibt es viele Wohnungen. Wenn es nicht so wäre, hätte ich euch dann gesagt: Ich gehe, um einen Platz für euch vorzubereiten?	2 In my Father's house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going nowto prepare a place for you,
3 Wenn ich gegangen bin und einen Platz für euch vorbereitet habe, komme ich wieder und werde euch zu mir holen, damit auch ihr dort seid, wo ich bin.	3 and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you maybe with me where I am.
4 Und wohin ich gehe - den Weg dorthin kennt ihr.	4 You know the way to the place where I am going.
5 Thomas sagte zu ihm: Herr, wir wissen nicht, wohin du gehst. Wie sollen wir dann den Weg kennen?	5 Thomas said, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?'
6 Jesus sagte zu ihm: Ich bin der Weg und die Wahrheit und das Leben; niemand kommt zum Vater außer durch mich.	6 Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
7 Wenn ihr mich erkannt habt, werdet ihr auch meinen Vater erkennen. Schon jetzt kennt ihr ihn und habt ihn gesehen.	7 If you know me, you will know my Father too. From this moment you know him and have seen him.
8 Philippus sagte zu ihm: Herr, zeig uns den Vater; das genügt uns.	8 Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we shall be satisfied.' Jesus said to him,
9 Jesus antwortete ihm: Schon so lange bin ich bei euch und du hast mich nicht erkannt, Philippus? Wer mich gesehen hat, hat den Vater gesehen. Wie kannst du sagen: Zeig uns den Vater?	9 'Have I been with you al this time, Philip, and you stil do not know me? 'Anyone who has seen me hasseen the Father, so how can you say, "Show us the Father"?
10 Glaubst du nicht, dass ich im Vater bin und dass der Vater in mir ist? Die Worte, die ich zu euch sage, habe ich nicht aus mir selbst. Der Vater, der in mir bleibt, vollbringt seine Werke.	10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I say to you I do not speakof my own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his works.
11 Glaubt mir doch, dass ich im Vater bin und dass der Vater in mir ist; wenn nicht, glaubt wenigstens aufgrund der Werke!	11 You must believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe iton the evidence of these works.
12 Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Wer an mich glaubt, wird die Werke, die ich vollbringe, auch vollbringen und er wird noch größere vollbringen, denn ich gehe zum Vater.	12 In all truth I tell you, whoever believes in me wil perform the same works as I do myself, and wilperform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.
13 Alles, um was ihr in meinem Namen bittet, werde ich tun, damit der Vater im Sohn verherrlicht wird.	13 Whatever you ask in my name I wil do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 Wenn ihr mich um etwas in meinem Namen bittet, werde ich es tun.	14 If you ask me anything in my name, I wil do it.
15 Wenn ihr mich liebt, werdet ihr meine Gebote halten.	15 If you love me you wil keep my commandments.
16 Und ich werde den Vater bitten und er wird euch einen anderen Beistand geben, der für immer bei euch bleiben soll.	16 I shall ask the Father, and he wil give you another Paraclete to be with you for ever,
17 Es ist der Geist der Wahrheit, den die Welt nicht empfangen kann, weil sie ihn nicht sieht und nicht kennt. Ihr aber kennt ihn, weil er bei euch bleibt und in euch sein wird.	17 the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you knowhim, because he is with you, he is in you.
18 Ich werde euch nicht als Waisen zurücklassen, sondern ich komme wieder zu euch.	18 I shall not leave you orphans; I shall come to you.
19 Nur noch kurze Zeit, und die Welt sieht mich nicht mehr; ihr aber seht mich, weil ich lebe und weil auch ihr leben werdet.	19 In a short time the world wil no longer see me; but you wil see that I live and you also wil live.
20 An jenem Tag werdet ihr erkennen: Ich bin in meinem Vater, ihr seid in mir und ich bin in euch.	20 On that day you wil know that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you.
21 Wer meine Gebote hat und sie hält, der ist es, der mich liebt; wer mich aber liebt, wird von meinem Vater geliebt werden und auch ich werde ihn lieben und mich ihm offenbaren.	21 Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and whoever lovesme will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and reveal myself to him.'
22 Judas - nicht der Judas Iskariot - fragte ihn: Herr, warum willst du dich nur uns offenbaren und nicht der Welt?	22 Judas -- not Judas Iscariot -- said to him, 'Lord, what has happened, that you intend to show yourselfto us and not to the world?'
23 Jesus antwortete ihm: Wenn jemand mich liebt, wird er an meinem Wort festhalten; mein Vater wird ihn lieben und wir werden zu ihm kommen und bei ihm wohnen.	23 Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me wil keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shalcome to him and make a home in him.
24 Wer mich nicht liebt, hält an meinen Worten nicht fest. Und das Wort, das ihr hört, stammt nicht von mir, sondern vom Vater, der mich gesandt hat.	24 Anyone who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not my own: itis the word of the Father who sent me.
25 Das habe ich zu euch gesagt, während ich noch bei euch bin.	25 I have said these things to you while still with you;
26 Der Beistand aber, der Heilige Geist, den der Vater in meinem Namen senden wird, der wird euch alles lehren und euch an alles erinnern, was ich euch gesagt habe.	26 but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father wil send in my name, wil teach you everythingand remind you of al I have said to you.
27 Frieden hinterlasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch; nicht einen Frieden, wie die Welt ihn gibt, gebe ich euch. Euer Herz beunruhige sich nicht und verzage nicht.	27 Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is mygift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
28 Ihr habt gehört, dass ich zu euch sagte: Ich gehe fort und komme wieder zu euch zurück. Wenn ihr mich lieb hättet, würdet ihr euch freuen, dass ich zum Vater gehe; denn der Vater ist größer als ich.	28 You heard me say: I am going away and shal return. If you loved me you would be glad that I amgoing to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
29 Jetzt schon habe ich es euch gesagt, bevor es geschieht, damit ihr, wenn es geschieht, zum Glauben kommt.	29 I have told you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.
30 Ich werde nicht mehr viel zu euch sagen; denn es kommt der Herrscher der Welt. Über mich hat er keine Macht,	30 I shall not talk to you much longer, because the prince of this world is on his way. He has no powerover me,
31 aber die Welt soll erkennen, dass ich den Vater liebe und so handle, wie es mir der Vater aufgetragen hat. Steht auf, wir wollen weggehen von hier.	31 but the world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded.Come now, let us go.
