1 Unterdessen strömten Tausende von Menschen zusammen, sodass es ein gefährliches Gedränge gab. Jesus wandte sich zuerst an seine Jünger und sagte: Hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer, das heißt vor der Heuchelei.	1 Then, as great crowds were standing so close that they were stepping on one another, he began to say to his disciples: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 Nichts ist verhüllt, was nicht enthüllt wird, und nichts ist verborgen, was nicht bekannt wird.	2 For there is nothing covered, which will not be revealed, nor anything hidden, which will not be known.
3 Deshalb wird man alles, was ihr im Dunkeln redet, am hellen Tag hören, und was ihr einander hinter verschlossenen Türen ins Ohr flüstert, das wird man auf den Dächern verkünden.	3 For the things that you have spoken in darkness will be declared in the light. And what you have said in the ear in bedrooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.
4 Euch aber, meinen Freunden, sage ich: Fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib töten, euch aber sonst nichts tun können.	4 So I say to you, my friends: Do not be fearful of those who kill the body, and afterwards have no more that they can do.
5 Ich will euch zeigen, wen ihr fürchten sollt: Fürchtet euch vor dem, der nicht nur töten kann, sondern die Macht hat, euch auch noch in die Hölle zu werfen. Ja, das sage ich euch: Ihn sollt ihr fürchten.	5 But I will reveal to you whom you should fear. Fear him who, after he will have killed, has the power to cast into Hell. So I say to you: Fear him.
6 Verkauft man nicht fünf Spatzen für ein paar Pfennig? Und doch vergisst Gott nicht einen von ihnen.	6 Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? And yet not one of these is forgotten in the sight of God.
7 Bei euch aber sind sogar die Haare auf dem Kopf alle gezählt. Fürchtet euch nicht! Ihr seid mehr wert als viele Spatzen.	7 But even the very hairs of your head have all been numbered. Therefore, do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.
8 Ich sage euch: Wer sich vor den Menschen zu mir bekennt, zu dem wird sich auch der Menschensohn vor den Engeln Gottes bekennen.	8 But I say to you: Everyone who will have confessed me before men, the Son of man will also confess him before the Angels of God.
9 Wer mich aber vor den Menschen verleugnet, der wird auch vor den Engeln Gottes verleugnet werden.	9 But everyone who will have denied me before men, he will be denied before the Angels of God.
10 Jedem, der etwas gegen den Menschensohn sagt, wird vergeben werden; wer aber den Heiligen Geist lästert, dem wird nicht vergeben.	10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven of him. But of him who will have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.
11 Wenn man euch vor die Gerichte der Synagogen und vor die Herrscher und Machthaber schleppt, dann macht euch keine Sorgen, wie ihr euch verteidigen oder was ihr sagen sollt.	11 And when they will lead you to the synagogues, and to magistrates and authorities, do not choose to be worried about how or what you will answer, or about what you might say.
12 Denn der Heilige Geist wird euch in der gleichen Stunde eingeben, was ihr sagen müsst.	12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you, in the same hour, what you must say.”
13 Einer aus der Volksmenge bat Jesus: Meister, sag meinem Bruder, er soll das Erbe mit mir teilen.	13 And someone from the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.”
14 Er erwiderte ihm: Mensch, wer hat mich zum Richter oder Schlichter bei euch gemacht?	14 But he said to him, “Man, who has appointed me as judge or arbitrator over you?”
15 Dann sagte er zu den Leuten: Gebt Acht, hütet euch vor jeder Art von Habgier. Denn der Sinn des Lebens besteht nicht darin, dass ein Mensch aufgrund seines großen Vermögens im Überfluss lebt.	15 So he said to them: “Be cautious and wary of all avarice. For a person’s life is not found in the abundance of the things that he possesses.”
16 Und er erzählte ihnen folgendes Beispiel: Auf den Feldern eines reichen Mannes stand eine gute Ernte.	16 Then he spoke to them using a comparison, saying: “The fertile land of a certain wealthy man produced crops.
17 Da überlegte er hin und her: Was soll ich tun? Ich weiß nicht, wo ich meine Ernte unterbringen soll.	17 And he thought within himself, saying: ‘What should I do? For I have nowhere to gather together my crops.’
18 Schließlich sagte er: So will ich es machen: Ich werde meine Scheunen abreißen und größere bauen; dort werde ich mein ganzes Getreide und meine Vorräte unterbringen.	18 And he said: ‘This is what I will do. I will tear down my barns and build larger ones. And into these, I will gather all the things that have been grown for me, as well as my goods.
19 Dann kann ich zu mir selber sagen: Nun hast du einen großen Vorrat, der für viele Jahre reicht. Ruh dich aus, iss und trink und freu dich des Lebens!	19 And I will say to my soul: Soul, you have many goods, stored up for many years. Relax, eat, drink, and be cheerful.’
20 Da sprach Gott zu ihm: Du Narr! Noch in dieser Nacht wird man dein Leben von dir zurückfordern. Wem wird dann all das gehören, was du angehäuft hast?	20 But God said to him: ‘Foolish one, this very night they require your soul of you. To whom, then, will those things belong, which you have prepared?’
21 So geht es jedem, der nur für sich selbst Schätze sammelt, aber vor Gott nicht reich ist.	21 So it is with him who stores up for himself, and is not wealthy with God.”
22 Und er sagte zu seinen Jüngern: Deswegen sage ich euch: Sorgt euch nicht um euer Leben und darum, dass ihr etwas zu essen habt, noch um euren Leib und darum, dass ihr etwas anzuziehen habt.	22 And he said to his disciples: “And so I say to you: Do not choose to be anxious about your life, as to what you may eat, nor about your body, as to what you will wear.
23 Das Leben ist wichtiger als die Nahrung und der Leib wichtiger als die Kleidung.	23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24 Seht auf die Raben: Sie säen nicht und ernten nicht, sie haben keinen Speicher und keine Scheune; denn Gott ernährt sie. Wie viel mehr seid ihr wert als die Vögel!	24 Consider the ravens. For they neither sow nor reap; there is no storehouse or barn for them. And yet God pastures them. How much more are you, compared to them?
25 Wer von euch kann mit all seiner Sorge sein Leben auch nur um eine kleine Zeitspanne verlängern?	25 But which of you, by thinking, is able to add one cubit to his stature?
26 Wenn ihr nicht einmal etwas so Geringes könnt, warum macht ihr euch dann Sorgen um all das übrige?	26 Therefore, if you are not capable, in what is so little, why be anxious about the rest?
27 Seht euch die Lilien an: Sie arbeiten nicht und spinnen nicht. Doch ich sage euch: Selbst Salomo war in all seiner Pracht nicht gekleidet wie eine von ihnen.	27 Consider the lilies, how they grow. They neither work nor weave. But I say to you, not even Solomon, in all his glory, was clothed like one of these.
28 Wenn aber Gott schon das Gras so prächtig kleidet, das heute auf dem Feld steht und morgen ins Feuer geworfen wird, wie viel mehr dann euch, ihr Kleingläubigen!	28 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass, which is in the field today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more you, O little in faith?
29 Darum fragt nicht, was ihr essen und was ihr trinken sollt, und ängstigt euch nicht!	29 And so, do not choose to inquire as to what you will eat, or what you will drink. And do not choose to be lifted up on high.
30 Denn um all das geht es den Heiden in der Welt. Euer Vater weiß, dass ihr das braucht.	30 For all these things are sought by the Gentiles of the world. And your Father knows that you have need of these things.
31 Euch jedoch muss es um sein Reich gehen; dann wird euch das andere dazugegeben.	31 Yet truly, seek first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added to you.
32 Fürchte dich nicht, du kleine Herde! Denn euer Vater hat beschlossen, euch das Reich zu geben.	32 Do not be afraid, little flock; for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom.
33 Verkauft eure Habe und gebt den Erlös den Armen! Macht euch Geldbeutel, die nicht zerreißen. Verschafft euch einen Schatz, der nicht abnimmt, droben im Himmel, wo kein Dieb ihn findet und keine Motte ihn frisst.	33 Sell what you possess, and give alms. Make for yourselves purses that will not wear out, a treasure that will not fall short, in heaven, where no thief approaches, and no moth corrupts.
34 Denn wo euer Schatz ist, da ist auch euer Herz.	34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 Legt euren Gürtel nicht ab und lasst eure Lampen brennen!	35 Let your waists be girded, and let lamps be burning in your hands.
36 Seid wie Menschen, die auf die Rückkehr ihres Herrn warten, der auf einer Hochzeit ist, und die ihm öffnen, sobald er kommt und anklopft.	36 And let you yourselves be like men awaiting their lord, when he will return from the wedding; so that, when he arrives and knocks, they may open to him promptly.
37 Selig die Knechte, die der Herr wach findet, wenn er kommt! Amen, ich sage euch: Er wird sich gürten, sie am Tisch Platz nehmen lassen und sie der Reihe nach bedienen.	37 Blessed are those servants whom the Lord, when he returns, will find being vigilant. Amen I say to you, that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, while he, continuing on, will minister to them.
38 Und kommt er erst in der zweiten oder dritten Nachtwache und findet sie wach - selig sind sie.	38 And if he will return in the second watch, or if in the third watch, and if he will find them to be so: then blessed are those servants.
39 Bedenkt: Wenn der Herr des Hauses wüsste, in welcher Stunde der Dieb kommt, so würde er verhindern, dass man in sein Haus einbricht.	39 But know this: that if the father of the family knew at what hour the thief would arrive, he would certainly stand watch, and he would not permit his house to be broken into.
40 Haltet auch ihr euch bereit! Denn der Menschensohn kommt zu einer Stunde, in der ihr es nicht erwartet.	40 You also must be prepared. For the Son of man will return at an hour that you will not realize.”
41 Da sagte Petrus: Herr, meinst du mit diesem Gleichnis nur uns oder auch all die anderen?	41 Then Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or also to everyone?”
42 Der Herr antwortete: Wer ist denn der treue und kluge Verwalter, den der Herr einsetzen wird, damit er seinem Gesinde zur rechten Zeit die Nahrung zuteilt?	42 So the Lord said: “Who do you think is the faithful and prudent steward, whom his Lord has appointed over his family, in order to give them their measure of wheat in due time?
43 Selig der Knecht, den der Herr damit beschäftigt findet, wenn er kommt!	43 Blessed is that servant if, when his Lord will return, he will find him acting in this manner.
44 Wahrhaftig, das sage ich euch: Er wird ihn zum Verwalter seines ganzen Vermögens machen.	44 Truly I say to you, that he will appoint him over all that he possesses.
45 Wenn aber der Knecht denkt: Mein Herr kommt noch lange nicht zurück!, und anfängt, die Knechte und Mägde zu schlagen; wenn er isst und trinkt und sich berauscht,	45 But if that servant will have said in his heart, ‘My Lord has made a delay in his return,’ and if he has begun to strike the men and women servants, and to eat and drink, and to be inebriated,
46 dann wird der Herr an einem Tag kommen, an dem der Knecht es nicht erwartet, und zu einer Stunde, die er nicht kennt; und der Herr wird ihn in Stücke hauen und ihm seinen Platz unter den Ungläubigen zuweisen.	46 then the Lord of that servant will return on a day which he hoped not, and at an hour which he knew not. And he will separate him, and he will place his portion with that of the unfaithful.
47 Der Knecht, der den Willen seines Herrn kennt, sich aber nicht darum kümmert und nicht danach handelt, der wird viele Schläge bekommen.	47 And that servant, who knew the will of his Lord, and who did not prepare and did not act according to his will, will be beaten many times over.
48 Wer aber, ohne den Willen des Herrn zu kennen, etwas tut, was Schläge verdient, der wird wenig Schläge bekommen. Wem viel gegeben wurde, von dem wird viel zurückgefordert werden, und wem man viel anvertraut hat, von dem wird man um so mehr verlangen.	48 Yet he who did not know, and who acted in a way that deserves a beating, will be beaten fewer times. So then, of all to whom much has been given, much will be required. And of those to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be asked.
49 Ich bin gekommen, um Feuer auf die Erde zu werfen. Wie froh wäre ich, es würde schon brennen!	49 I have come to cast a fire upon the earth. And what should I desire, except that it may be kindled?
50 Ich muss mit einer Taufe getauft werden und ich bin sehr bedrückt, solange sie noch nicht vollzogen ist.	50 And I have a baptism, with which I am to be baptized. And how I am constrained, even until it may be accomplished!
51 Meint ihr, ich sei gekommen, um Frieden auf die Erde zu bringen? Nein, sage ich euch, nicht Frieden, sondern Spaltung.	51 Do you think that I have come to give peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division.
52 Denn von nun an wird es so sein: Wenn fünf Menschen im gleichen Haus leben, wird Zwietracht herrschen: Drei werden gegen zwei stehen und zwei gegen drei,	52 For from this time on, there will be five in one house: divided as three against two, and as two against three.
53 der Vater gegen den Sohn und der Sohn gegen den Vater, die Mutter gegen die Tochter und die Tochter gegen die Mutter, die Schwiegermutter gegen ihre Schwiegertochter und die Schwiegertochter gegen die Schwiegermutter.	53 A father will be divided against a son, and a son against his father; a mother against a daughter and a daughter against a mother; a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
54 Außerdem sagte Jesus zu den Leuten: Sobald ihr im Westen Wolken aufsteigen seht, sagt ihr: Es gibt Regen. Und es kommt so.	54 And he also said to the crowds: “When you see a cloud rising from the setting of the sun, immediately you say, ‘A rain cloud is coming.’ And so it does.
55 Und wenn der Südwind weht, dann sagt ihr: Es wird heiß. Und es trifft ein.	55 And when a south wind is blowing, you say, ‘It will be hot.’ And so it is.
56 Ihr Heuchler! Das Aussehen der Erde und des Himmels könnt ihr deuten. Warum könnt ihr dann die Zeichen dieser Zeit nicht deuten?	56 You hypocrites! You discern the face of the heavens, and of the earth, yet how is it that you do not discern this time?
57 Warum findet ihr nicht schon von selbst das rechte Urteil?	57 And why do you not, even among yourselves, judge what is just?
58 Wenn du mit deinem Gegner vor Gericht gehst, bemüh dich noch auf dem Weg, dich mit ihm zu einigen. Sonst wird er dich vor den Richter schleppen und der Richter wird dich dem Gerichtsdiener übergeben, und der Gerichtsdiener wird dich ins Gefängnis werfen.	58 So, when you are going with your adversary to the ruler, while you are on the way, make an effort to be freed from him, lest perhaps he may lead you to the judge, and the judge may deliver you to the officer, and the officer may cast you into prison.
59 Ich sage dir: Du kommst von dort nicht heraus, bis du auch den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.	59 I tell you, you will not depart from there, until you have paid the very last coin.”
