EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Es war zwei Tage vor dem Pascha und dem Fest der Ungesäuerten Brote. Die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten suchten nach einer Möglichkeit, Jesus mit List in ihre Gewalt zu bringen, um ihn zu töten.	1 It was two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and thescribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by some trick and have him put to death.
2 Sie sagten aber: Ja nicht am Fest, damit es im Volk keinen Aufruhr gibt.	2 For they said, 'It must not be during the festivities, or there wil be a disturbance among the people.'
3 Als Jesus in Betanien im Haus Simons des Aussätzigen bei Tisch war, kam eine Frau mit einem Alabastergefäß voll echtem, kostbarem Nardenöl, zerbrach es und goss das Öl über sein Haar.	3 He was at Bethany in the house of Simon, a man who had suffered from a virulent skin-disease; hewas at table when a woman came in with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, pure nard. She broke the jarand poured the ointment on his head.
4 Einige aber wurden unwillig und sagten zueinander: Wozu diese Verschwendung?	4 Some who were there said to one another indignantly, 'Why this waste of ointment?
5 Man hätte das Öl um mehr als dreihundert Denare verkaufen und das Geld den Armen geben können. Und sie machten der Frau heftige Vorwürfe.	5 Ointment like this could have been sold for over three hundred denari and the money given to thepoor'; and they were angry with her.
6 Jesus aber sagte: Hört auf! Warum lasst ihr sie nicht in Ruhe? Sie hat ein gutes Werk an mir getan.	6 But Jesus said, 'Leave her alone. Why are you upsetting her? What she has done for me is a goodwork.
7 Denn die Armen habt ihr immer bei euch und ihr könnt ihnen Gutes tun, so oft ihr wollt; mich aber habt ihr nicht immer.	7 You have the poor with you always, and you can be kind to them whenever you wish, but you wil notalways have me.
8 Sie hat getan, was sie konnte. Sie hat im voraus meinen Leib für das Begräbnis gesalbt.	8 She has done what she could: she has anointed my body beforehand for its burial.
9 Amen, ich sage euch: Überall auf der Welt, wo das Evangelium verkündet wird, wird man sich an sie erinnern und erzählen, was sie getan hat.	9 In truth I tel you, wherever throughout al the world the gospel is proclaimed, what she has done wilbe told as well, in remembrance of her.'
10 Judas Iskariot, einer der Zwölf, ging zu den Hohenpriestern. Er wollte Jesus an sie ausliefern.	10 Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, approached the chief priests with an offer to hand Jesus over tothem.
11 Als sie das hörten, freuten sie sich und versprachen, ihm Geld dafür zu geben. Von da an suchte er nach einer günstigen Gelegenheit, ihn auszuliefern.	11 They were delighted to hear it, and promised to give him money; and he began to look for a way ofbetraying him when the opportunity should occur.
12 Am ersten Tag des Festes der Ungesäuerten Brote, an dem man das Paschalamm schlachtete, sagten die Jünger zu Jesus: Wo sollen wir das Paschamahl für dich vorbereiten?	12 On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was sacrificed, his disciples said tohim, 'Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?'
13 Da schickte er zwei seiner Jünger voraus und sagte zu ihnen: Geht in die Stadt; dort wird euch ein Mann begegnen, der einen Wasserkrug trägt. Folgt ihm,	13 So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 'Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying apitcher of water. Fol ow him,
14 bis er in ein Haus hineingeht; dann sagt zu dem Herrn des Hauses: Der Meister lässt dich fragen: Wo ist der Raum, in dem ich mit meinen Jüngern das Paschalamm essen kann?	14 and say to the owner of the house which he enters, "The Master says: Where is the room for me toeat the Passover with my disciples?"
15 Und der Hausherr wird euch einen großen Raum im Obergeschoss zeigen, der schon für das Festmahl hergerichtet und mit Polstern ausgestattet ist. Dort bereitet alles für uns vor!	15 He wil show you a large upper room furnished with couches, al prepared. Make the preparations forus there.'
16 Die Jünger machten sich auf den Weg und kamen in die Stadt. Sie fanden alles so, wie er es ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Paschamahl vor.	16 The disciples set out and went to the city and found everything as he had told them, and preparedthe Passover.
17 Als es Abend wurde, kam Jesus mit den Zwölf.	17 When evening came he arrived with the Twelve.
18 Während sie nun bei Tisch waren und aßen, sagte er: Amen, ich sage euch: Einer von euch wird mich verraten und ausliefern, einer von denen, die zusammen mit mir essen.	18 And while they were at table eating, Jesus said, 'In truth I tell you, one of you is about to betray me,one of you eating with me.'
19 Da wurden sie traurig und einer nach dem andern fragte ihn: Doch nicht etwa ich?	19 They were distressed and said to him, one after another, 'Not me, surely?'
20 Er sagte zu ihnen: Einer von euch Zwölf, der mit mir aus derselben Schüssel isst.	20 He said to them, 'It is one of the Twelve, one who is dipping into the same dish with me.
21 Der Menschensohn muss zwar seinen Weg gehen, wie die Schrift über ihn sagt. Doch weh dem Menschen, durch den der Menschensohn verraten wird. Für ihn wäre es besser, wenn er nie geboren wäre.	21 Yes, the Son of man is going to his fate, as the scriptures say he will, but alas for that man by whomthe Son of man is betrayed! Better for that man if he had never been born.'
22 Während des Mahls nahm er das Brot und sprach den Lobpreis; dann brach er das Brot, reichte es ihnen und sagte: Nehmt, das ist mein Leib.	22 And as they were eating he took bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it tothem. 'Take it,' he said, 'this is my body.'
23 Dann nahm er den Kelch, sprach das Dankgebet, reichte ihn den Jüngern und sie tranken alle daraus.	23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he handed it to them, and al drank from it,
24 Und er sagte zu ihnen: Das ist mein Blut, das Blut des Bundes, das für viele vergossen wird.	24 and he said to them, 'This is my blood, the blood of the covenant, poured out for many.
25 Amen, ich sage euch: Ich werde nicht mehr von der Frucht des Weinstocks trinken bis zu dem Tag, an dem ich von neuem davon trinke im Reich Gottes.	25 In truth I tel you, I shal never drink wine any more until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdomof God.'
26 Nach dem Lobgesang gingen sie zum Ölberg hinaus.	26 After the psalms had been sung they left for the Mount of Olives.
27 Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Ihr werdet alle (an mir) Anstoß nehmen und zu Fall kommen; denn in der Schrift steht: Ich werde den Hirten erschlagen, dann werden sich die Schafe zerstreuen.	27 And Jesus said to them, 'You wil all fal away, for the scripture says: I shal strike the shepherd andthe sheep wil be scattered;
28 Aber nach meiner Auferstehung werde ich euch nach Galiläa vorausgehen.	28 however, after my resurrection I shall go before you into Galilee.'
29 Da sagte Petrus zu ihm: Auch wenn alle (an dir) Anstoß nehmen - ich nicht!	29 Peter said, 'Even if all fal away, I wil not.'
30 Jesus antwortete ihm: Amen, ich sage dir: Noch heute Nacht, ehe der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen.	30 And Jesus said to him, 'In truth I tel you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, youwil have disowned me three times.'
31 Petrus aber beteuerte: Und wenn ich mit dir sterben müsste - ich werde dich nie verleugnen. Das gleiche sagten auch alle anderen.	31 But he repeated stil more earnestly, 'If I have to die with you, I wil never disown you.' And they allsaid the same.
32 Sie kamen zu einem Grundstück, das Getsemani heißt, und er sagte zu seinen Jüngern: Setzt euch und wartet hier, während ich bete.	32 They came to a plot of land cal ed Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, 'Stay here while I pray.'
33 Und er nahm Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes mit sich. Da ergriff ihn Furcht und Angst,	33 Then he took Peter and James and John with him.
34 und er sagte zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist zu Tode betrübt. Bleibt hier und wacht!	34 And he began to feel terror and anguish. And he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowful to the point ofdeath. Wait here, and stay awake.'
35 Und er ging ein Stück weiter, warf sich auf die Erde nieder und betete, dass die Stunde, wenn möglich, an ihm vorübergehe.	35 And going on a little further he threw himself on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, thishour might pass him by.
36 Er sprach: Abba, Vater, alles ist dir möglich. Nimm diesen Kelch von mir! Aber nicht, was ich will, sondern was du willst (soll geschehen).	36 'Abba, Father!' he said, 'For you everything is possible. Take this cup away from me. But let it be asyou, not I, would have it.'
37 Und er ging zurück und fand sie schlafend. Da sagte er zu Petrus: Simon, du schläfst? Konntest du nicht einmal eine Stunde wach bleiben?	37 He came back and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, 'Simon, are you asleep? Had you notthe strength to stay awake one hour?
38 Wacht und betet, damit ihr nicht in Versuchung geratet. Der Geist ist willig, aber das Fleisch ist schwach.	38 Stay awake and pray not to be put to the test. The spirit is wil ing enough, but human nature is weak.'
39 Und er ging wieder weg und betete mit den gleichen Worten.	39 Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.
40 Als er zurückkam, fand er sie wieder schlafend, denn die Augen waren ihnen zugefallen; und sie wussten nicht, was sie ihm antworten sollten.	40 And once more he came back and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy; and they couldfind no answer for him.
41 Und er kam zum dritten Mal und sagte zu ihnen: Schlaft ihr immer noch und ruht euch aus? Es ist genug. Die Stunde ist gekommen; jetzt wird der Menschensohn den Sündern ausgeliefert.	41 He came back a third time and said to them, 'You can sleep on now and have your rest. It is al over.The hour has come. Now the Son of man is to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Steht auf, wir wollen gehen! Seht, der Verräter, der mich ausliefert, ist da.	42 Get up! Let us go! My betrayer is not far away.'
43 Noch während er redete, kam Judas, einer der Zwölf, mit einer Schar von Männern, die mit Schwertern und Knüppeln bewaffnet waren; sie waren von den Hohenpriestern, den Schriftgelehrten und den Ältesten geschickt worden.	43 And at once, while he was stil speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came up and with him a numberof men armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 Der Verräter hatte mit ihnen ein Zeichen vereinbart und gesagt: Der, den ich küssen werde, der ist es. Nehmt ihn fest, führt ihn ab und lasst ihn nicht entkommen.	44 Now the traitor had arranged a signal with them saying, 'The one I kiss, he is the man. Arrest him,and see he is well guarded when you lead him away.'
45 Und als er kam, ging er sogleich auf Jesus zu und sagte: Rabbi! Und er küsste ihn.	45 So when the traitor came, he went up to Jesus at once and said, 'Rabbi!' and kissed him.
46 Da ergriffen sie ihn und nahmen ihn fest.	46 The others seized him and arrested him.
47 Einer von denen, die dabeistanden, zog das Schwert, schlug auf den Diener des Hohenpriesters ein und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.	47 Then one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck out at the high priest's servant and cut off hisear.
48 Da sagte Jesus zu ihnen: Wie gegen einen Räuber seid ihr mit Schwertern und Knüppeln ausgezogen, um mich festzunehmen.	48 Then Jesus spoke. 'Am I a bandit,' he said, 'that you had to set out to capture me with swords andclubs?
49 Tag für Tag war ich bei euch im Tempel und lehrte und ihr habt mich nicht verhaftet; aber (das ist geschehen), damit die Schrift in Erfüllung geht.	49 I was among you teaching in the Temple day after day and you never laid a hand on me. But this isto fulfil the scriptures.'
50 Da verließen ihn alle und flohen.	50 And they al deserted him and ran away.
51 Ein junger Mann aber, der nur mit einem leinenen Tuch bekleidet war, wollte ihm nachgehen. Da packten sie ihn;	51 A young man fol owed with nothing on but a linen cloth. They caught hold of him,
52 er aber ließ das Tuch fallen und lief nackt davon.	52 but he left the cloth in their hands and ran away naked.
53 Darauf führten sie Jesus zum Hohenpriester und es versammelten sich alle Hohenpriester und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten.	53 They led Jesus off to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribesassembled there.
54 Petrus aber war Jesus von weitem bis in den Hof des hohepriesterlichen Palastes gefolgt; nun saß er dort bei den Dienern und wärmte sich am Feuer.	54 Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the high priest's palace, and was sitting with theattendants warming himself at the fire.
55 Die Hohenpriester und der ganze Hohe Rat bemühten sich um Zeugenaussagen gegen Jesus, um ihn zum Tod verurteilen zu können; sie fanden aber nichts.	55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus in order to havehim executed. But they could not find any.
56 Viele machten zwar falsche Aussagen über ihn, aber die Aussagen stimmten nicht überein.	56 Several, indeed, brought false witness against him, but their evidence was conflicting.
57 Einige der falschen Zeugen, die gegen ihn auftraten, behaupteten:	57 Some stood up and submitted this false evidence against him,
58 Wir haben ihn sagen hören: Ich werde diesen von Menschen erbauten Tempel niederreißen und in drei Tagen einen anderen errichten, der nicht von Menschenhand gemacht ist.	58 'We heard him say, "I am going to destroy this Temple made by human hands, and in three daysbuild another, not made by human hands." '
59 Aber auch in diesem Fall stimmten die Aussagen nicht überein.	59 But even on this point their evidence was conflicting.
60 Da stand der Hohepriester auf, trat in die Mitte und fragte Jesus: Willst du denn nichts sagen zu dem, was diese Leute gegen dich vorbringen?	60 The high priest then rose before the whole assembly and put this question to Jesus, 'Have you noanswer to that? What is this evidence these men are bringing against you?'
61 Er aber schwieg und gab keine Antwort. Da wandte sich der Hohepriester nochmals an ihn und fragte: Bist du der Messias, der Sohn des Hochgelobten?	61 But he was silent and made no answer at all. The high priest put a second question to him saying,'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?'
62 Jesus sagte: Ich bin es. Und ihr werdet den Menschensohn zur Rechten der Macht sitzen und mit den Wolken des Himmels kommen sehen.	62 'I am,' said Jesus, 'and you wil see the Son of man seated at the right hand of the Power and comingwith the clouds of heaven.'
63 Da zerriss der Hohepriester sein Gewand und rief: Wozu brauchen wir noch Zeugen?	63 The high priest tore his robes and said, 'What need of witnesses have we now?
64 Ihr habt die Gotteslästerung gehört. Was ist eure Meinung? Und sie fällten einstimmig das Urteil: Er ist schuldig und muss sterben.	64 You heard the blasphemy. What is your finding?' Their verdict was unanimous: he deserved to die.
65 Und einige spuckten ihn an, verhüllten sein Gesicht, schlugen ihn und riefen: Zeig, dass du ein Prophet bist! Auch die Diener schlugen ihn ins Gesicht.	65 Some of them started spitting at his face, hitting him and saying, 'Play the prophet!' And theattendants struck him too.
66 Als Petrus unten im Hof war, kam eine von den Mägden des Hohenpriesters.	66 While Peter was down below in the courtyard, one of the high priest's servant-girls came up.
67 Sie sah, wie Petrus sich wärmte, blickte ihn an und sagte: Auch du warst mit diesem Jesus aus Nazaret zusammen.	67 She saw Peter warming himself there, looked closely at him and said, 'You too were with Jesus, theman from Nazareth.'
68 Doch er leugnete es und sagte: Ich weiß nicht und verstehe nicht, wovon du redest. Dann ging er in den Vorhof hinaus.	68 But he denied it. 'I do not know, I do not understand what you are talking about,' he said. And hewent out into the forecourt, and a cock crowed.
69 Als die Magd ihn dort bemerkte, sagte sie zu denen, die dabeistanden, noch einmal: Der gehört zu ihnen.	69 The servant-girl saw him and again started tel ing the bystanders, 'This man is one of them.'
70 Er aber leugnete es wieder ab. Wenig später sagten die Leute, die dort standen, von neuem zu Petrus: Du gehörst wirklich zu ihnen; du bist doch auch ein Galiläer.	70 But again he denied it. A little later the bystanders themselves said to Peter, 'You are certainly one ofthem! Why, you are a Galilean.'
71 Da fing er an zu fluchen und schwor: Ich kenne diesen Menschen nicht, von dem ihr redet.	71 But he started cursing and swearing, 'I do not know the man you speak of.'
72 Gleich darauf krähte der Hahn zum zweiten Mal, und Petrus erinnerte sich, dass Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und er begann zu weinen.	72 And at once the cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recalled what Jesus had said to him,'Before the cock crows twice, you will have disowned me three times.' And he burst into tears.
