Matthäus 8

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Als Jesus von dem Berg herabstieg, folgten ihm viele Menschen.	1 After he had come down from the mountain large crowds fol owed him.
2 Da kam ein Aussätziger, fiel vor ihm nieder und sagte: Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du machen, dass ich rein werde.	2 Suddenly a man with a virulent skin-disease came up and bowed low in front of him, saying, 'Lord, ifyou are wil ing, you can cleanse me.'
3 Jesus streckte die Hand aus, berührte ihn und sagte: Ich will es - werde rein! Im gleichen Augenblick wurde der Aussätzige rein.	3 Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him saying, 'I am willing. Be cleansed.' And his skin-diseasewas cleansed at once.
4 Jesus aber sagte zu ihm: Nimm dich in Acht! Erzähl niemand davon, sondern geh, zeig dich dem Priester und bring das Opfer dar, das Mose angeordnet hat. Das soll für sie ein Beweis (deiner Heilung) sein.	4 Then Jesus said to him, 'Mind you tell no one, but go and show yourself to the priest and make theoffering prescribed by Moses, as evidence to them.'
5 Als er nach Kafarnaum kam, trat ein Hauptmann an ihn heran und bat ihn:	5 When he went into Capernaum a centurion came up and pleaded with him.
6 Herr, mein Diener liegt gelähmt zu Hause und hat große Schmerzen.	6 'Sir,' he said, 'my servant is lying at home paralysed and in great pain.'
7 Jesus sagte zu ihm: Ich will kommen und ihn gesund machen.	7 Jesus said to him, 'I wil come myself and cure him.'
8 Da antwortete der Hauptmann: Herr, ich bin es nicht wert, dass du mein Haus betrittst; sprich nur ein Wort, dann wird mein Diener gesund.	8 The centurion replied, 'Sir, I am not worthy to have you under my roof; just give the word and myservant will be cured.
9 Auch ich muss Befehlen gehorchen und ich habe selber Soldaten unter mir; sage ich nun zu einem: Geh!, so geht er, und zu einem andern: Komm!, so kommt er, und zu meinem Diener: Tu das!, so tut er es.	9 For I am under authority myself and have soldiers under me; and I say to one man, "Go," and he goes;to another, "Come here," and he comes; to my servant, "Do this," and he does it.'
10 Jesus war erstaunt, als er das hörte, und sagte zu denen, die ihm nachfolgten: Amen, das sage ich euch: Einen solchen Glauben habe ich in Israel noch bei niemand gefunden.	10 When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those following him, 'In truth I tell you, in no onein Israel have I found faith as great as this.
11 Ich sage euch: Viele werden von Osten und Westen kommen und mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob im Himmelreich zu Tisch sitzen;	11 And I tel you that many will come from east and west and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacobat the feast in the kingdom of Heaven;
12 die aber, für die das Reich bestimmt war, werden hinausgeworfen in die äußerste Finsternis; dort werden sie heulen und mit den Zähnen knirschen.	12 but the children of the kingdom wil be thrown out into the darkness outside, where there wil beweeping and grinding of teeth.'
13 Und zum Hauptmann sagte Jesus: Geh! Es soll geschehen, wie du geglaubt hast. Und in derselben Stunde wurde der Diener gesund.	13 And to the centurion Jesus said, 'Go back, then; let this be done for you, as your faith demands.' Andthe servant was cured at that moment.
14 Jesus ging in das Haus des Petrus und sah, dass dessen Schwiegermutter im Bett lag und Fieber hatte.	14 And going into Peter's house Jesus found Peter's mother-in-law in bed and feverish.
15 Da berührte er ihre Hand, und das Fieber wich von ihr. Und sie stand auf und sorgte für ihn.	15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.
16 Am Abend brachte man viele Besessene zu ihm. Er trieb mit seinem Wort die Geister aus und heilte alle Kranken.	16 That evening they brought him many who were possessed by devils. He drove out the spirits with acommand and cured al who were sick.
17 Dadurch sollte sich erfüllen, was durch den Propheten Jesaja gesagt worden ist: Er hat unsere Leiden auf sich genommen und unsere Krankheiten getragen.	17 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: He himself bore our sicknesses away andcarried our diseases.
18 Als Jesus die vielen Menschen sah, die um ihn waren, befahl er, ans andere Ufer zu fahren.	18 When Jesus saw the crowd al about him he gave orders to leave for the other side.
19 Da kam ein Schriftgelehrter zu ihm und sagte: Meister, ich will dir folgen, wohin du auch gehst.	19 One of the scribes then came up and said to him, 'Master, I wil fol ow you wherever you go.'
20 Jesus antwortete ihm: Die Füchse haben ihre Höhlen und die Vögel ihre Nester; der Menschensohn aber hat keinen Ort, wo er sein Haupt hinlegen kann.	20 Jesus said, 'Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere tolay his head.'
21 Ein anderer aber, einer seiner Jünger, sagte zu ihm: Herr, lass mich zuerst heimgehen und meinen Vater begraben!	21 Another man, one of the disciples, said to him, 'Lord, let me go and bury my father first.'
22 Jesus erwiderte: Folge mir nach; lass die Toten ihre Toten begraben!	22 But Jesus said, 'Fol ow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.'
23 Er stieg in das Boot, und seine Jünger folgten ihm.	23 Then he got into the boat fol owed by his disciples.
24 Plötzlich brach auf dem See ein gewaltiger Sturm los, sodass das Boot von den Wellen überflutet wurde. Jesus aber schlief.	24 Suddenly a storm broke over the lake, so violent that the boat was being swamped by the waves. Buthe was asleep.
25 Da traten die Jünger zu ihm und weckten ihn; sie riefen: Herr, rette uns, wir gehen zugrunde!	25 So they went to him and woke him saying, 'Save us, Lord, we are lost!'
26 Er sagte zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr solche Angst, ihr Kleingläubigen? Dann stand er auf, drohte den Winden und dem See und es trat völlige Stille ein.	26 And he said to them, 'Why are you so frightened, you who have so little faith?' And then he stood upand rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 Die Leute aber staunten und sagten: Was ist das für ein Mensch, dass ihm sogar die Winde und der See gehorchen?	27 They were astounded and said, 'Whatever kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obeyhim?'
28 Als Jesus an das andere Ufer kam, in das Gebiet von Gadara, liefen ihm aus den Grabhöhlen zwei Besessene entgegen. Sie waren so gefährlich, dass niemand den Weg benutzen konnte, der dort vorbeiführte.	28 When he reached the territory of the Gadarenes on the other side, two demoniacs came towards himout of the tombs -- they were so dangerously violent that nobody could use that path.
29 Sofort begannen sie zu schreien: Was haben wir mit dir zu tun, Sohn Gottes? Bist du hergekommen, um uns schon vor der Zeit zu quälen?	29 Suddenly they shouted, 'What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture usbefore the time?'
30 In einiger Entfernung weidete gerade eine große Schweineherde.	30 Now some distance away there was a large herd of pigs feeding,
31 Da baten ihn die Dämonen: Wenn du uns austreibst, dann schick uns in die Schweineherde!	31 and the devils pleaded with Jesus, 'If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.'
32 Er sagte zu ihnen: Geht! Da verließen sie die beiden und fuhren in die Schweine. Und die ganze Herde stürzte sich den Abhang hinab in den See und kam in den Fluten um.	32 And he said to them, 'Go then,' and they came out and made for the pigs; and at that the whole herdcharged down the cliff into the lake and perished in the water.
33 Die Hirten flohen, liefen in die Stadt und erzählten dort alles, auch das, was mit den Besessenen geschehen war.	33 The herdsmen ran off and made for the city, where they told the whole story, including what hadhappened to the demoniacs.
34 Und die ganze Stadt zog zu Jesus hinaus; als sie ihn trafen, baten sie ihn, ihr Gebiet zu verlassen.	34 Suddenly the whole city set out to meet Jesus; and as soon as they saw him they implored him toleave their neighbourhood.
